Hello guys, this weekend i was lucky to make a trade from my old 5600x to a new 5800x3d . i upgraded my ram too.
I watched some tutorials and vids and undervolted the cpu .

PBO limits - Manual
curve opt - all cores
all core opt sign - negative
all core curv Opt mag- 30

TDC limit 70
EDC 100

precision boost overdrive Scalar - Auto



I ran cinebench 2024 for stability

72c top temp 100% all cores / 68c avg
878 pts multicore
93 pts singlecore

i have no idea if these settings and results are any good.

Advise, suggestions comments will be welcome. thanks

Did you test it on games or benchmarks at stock and then on these settings?

i remember that top temps in bf2042 were 81c i think. for some reason i struggle to make function msi afterburner after the swapping.
but just had time to test bf and MH world. temps are better and more stable frames

Got a "new" Crosshair VII Hero and the previous one was probably cursed. This works just like a motherboard should work.

I just don't see the Curve Optimizer menu anywhere? I'm sure that the cursed one had that. And I upgraded the most recent bios immediately when I put this together few hours ago.

Curve Optimizer should be in the PBO section along with Boost Clock Override.

Yeah it was just in a different place than where it was on my Gigabyte B550 board.

Yes it does! Under some loads my 5700X3D will only run at 3950 MHz with no negative offset and go to 4050 in other loads. Set a -15 offset and it goes to 4050 or 4150. Mine happens not to be 100% stable at -20 or more. This also drops power use by about 8W and no it's not running into the 105W power limit even at 0 offset so I'm not sure how the tuning works in this CPU yet. It's slightly weirder/less predictable than my 5800X3D. That said, it works great and I'd buy another in an instant.

Yeah it can help lower CPU temps and seems to help the CPU boost a bit higher and for longer.

Finally comfortable enough with the new system to start doing a little tweaking. Ive followed this basic guide to tweak my 7800X3D a little...

Ive read stuff about setting LLCs on the motherboard to keep voltages stable but I havent gone as far as that yet. I currently have it set to -20 since most 7800X3Ds should be able to hit that without much problem according to my research. I might tweak the voltage next and try undervolting a little for better temps.

Also noticing that these chips tend to idle higher than previous CPUs I have experienced. My 8600k would idle as low as 32-35'c where as this chip here idles 45-50'c. I also did some googlefu and found Im not the only one that has been curious about the higher idle temps compared to other chips.

Is there anything else I should be particularly worried about?


P.S - Temps did hit almost 80c while Heilos was burning in but I think PTM has settled now. Its also gotten a lot cooler here room temperature wise and im hitting 59-65'c while gaming.

I guess I could push a little more negative offset, IIRC -64mV was stable too. Need to try later.

Ryzen Master has never managed to give me stable or consistent CO values for some reason. Hopefully AMD "as a software company" now will pay attention to things like that and make it work properly.

I guess I could just increase the CO offset by one step at every boot. Damn, let's visit BIOS right now and put it to -21

Ryzen Master gave me -30 on my 5700X3D too but it's not stable in every test. -15 is dependable.

Check HWinfo. The idle temp you see is most likely the IO die, as that's what's costing you just shy of 30 W at times, even in idle. That's just the reality of running high speed RAM with a high SoC voltage on AM5 unfortunately.

Personally, I run my RAM at JEDEC standard 4800 MHz, which keeps my VSOC at 1 V, idle power below 20 W, and idle temp closer to 40 °C with the CPU fan turned off, or just above 35 with it on, not to mention an instantaneous boot compared to waiting up to 20-30 seconds on a black screen. The performance impact is undetectable with a 6750 XT which keeps me GPU limited 99% of the time.

What is a good ram test to see if my settings are stable?
On my 5600x i could run 3800mhz with 22/22/22/48 on the timings or 3600mhz 18/20/20/20/46 but if i tried cas 16 the pc said no lol.

On this new 5700x3d i set 3600mhz 16/20/20/20/46 and it booted first time and so far no crash but not pushed anything yet.

I will give them a try soon, and since my last post i did a few 3dmark runs on the CPU test and also a few firestrike ultra test and no crashes yet.
will test my rust server out when i set it back up as that used to make my pc crash with the 5600x and when it did not like the ram timings i set.
