I will give them a try soon, and since my last post i did a few 3dmark runs on the CPU test and also a few firestrike ultra test and no crashes yet.
Just to be clear,
Real gaming is better than any GPU 3D benchmarks in showing stability issues.

Why do EXPO profiles on AM5 always push SOC up to 1.25v for a mere 2000 FCLK?
Imo, this is lunacy & just adding unnecessary heat to the CPU.
This morning I'm testing two EXPO profiles in 2 different rigs & they both do this even on the latest bios & AGESA release.

Going from like 1.1v to 1.25v on SoC voltage will add maybe a few watt. Under 5W
Same thing on AM4. Jedec profile works with 1.0~1.08v and when you enabling XMP the boards are shoving up to 1.2v SoC if not more.
I've lowered mine to 1.1v

Its the universal way to ensure stability for all CPU/board/DRAM combos out there... or so they think it is.

Yeah, I get that, but in tightly fitting areas like CPU sockets & transistor density compacting more & more with each generation, the laws of physics dictate heat has to go somewhere even if the electrical energy used to measure is just a few watts. I've noticed dropping SOCv for 2000 FCLK to something like 1.13v with LLC adjusted reduces temps by up to 5C under full load conditions. Thus enabling the PBO mechanism to improve its performance.

Anyone experimented with low latency ddr5 and a sync'd fclk? I'm wondering how it might impact some of am5's bandwidth issues. My bet is it would be worse, or obviously they'd be advising it, but are there any actual benches that have tried like ddr5-4000 or ddr5-4200, etc? Sorta gotta a brain worm telling me to try it.

My Crosshair VII has an annoying bug, its LEDs don't turn off on standby. What I mean that it forgets that I've disabled them after one reboot.

What that means (7800x3d here) ?

Phase in AMD cTDP to 105W option for particular processors.

configurable TDP, like on most Ryzen CPUs

105W (142W) won't be relevant to your 7800X3D, that's for sure, it can't even reach 100W..........unless your 7800X3D was fabbed on Intel 7

Probably useful for most if not all 2CCD AM5 CPUs (either 170W (230W) or 120W (162W))

That specific update is to give the option for the 9700X to have a 105W setting that doesn't need to be manually configured.

It's in response to the opinions that default 65W (88W) that the 9700X ships with limits performance. It's really just pushes that CPU out of it's optimal efficiency curve.

Perfect,

and what about, for my 7800x3d, that i set Core Performance Boost to OFF, and have DOCP disabled too, can i use DOCP anyway and it will work if Core Perf Boost is OFF ?

It's verry less hot and i don't see perf diff with this "Boost" option (is auto O/C infact, as description says) OFF or ON. It's with a 4070ti btw.

CPB off = 4.2GHz

I don't see what CPB has to do with DOCP/XMP/EXPO. They don't require one another.

7800X3D doesn't even run that hot. I mean, sure, if you enjoy wasting money on performance and not using it.

Oh, but i don't see anything, perhaps the last game that uses Path Tracing and such ?.. i can reenable it anyway, it's easy, but i play not just and only high end games, there is a few that push my CPU, like Baldur Gate 3 (?) but i'm done (twice) with it.

OS you advise me to enable CPB for demanding games !? OKay.

What i seen is that when enabled it gets hotter at idle, and anyway it never reaches more than 79° (limit is 89 btw) ON/OFF in hardest tests i could give on my PC... perhaps it's more power eficient with CPB OFF btw ?

I didn't say anything about demanding games. CPB is just AMD's equivalent of Turbo Boost. If you enjoy limiting your CPU to base clock and completely disabling boost clocks for no reason, then sure, do it to your heart's content.

Of course it's going to be technically "more efficient" at base clock, every CPU ever with any form of boost is like that.

That's like saying my car is more efficient at 1500rpm than it is at redline 6000rpm, therefore I'm going to impose my own rev limiter at 1500rpm because I like the sound of the word "efficiency". Except even more ridiculous than the car analogy, because while 6000rpm all day long will probably harm your engine, boost clocks 24/7/365 will not harm your CPU.

Wanted to see if anyone encountered this - decided to update the B550 chipset driver and all went well except that the Power Provisioning failed to install and (apparently) also removed the version that was already there, including the Provisioning Package itself in Win 11 settings. After a reboot I decided to re-install and this time all went well and the package returned. So, uh, that was a tad weird. Some speculations I’ve seen suggest that AMD considers the PPS obsolete for Zen 3 on Win 11, hence the strange behavior. Any truth to that?

Noticed something funky on 3 different installs of 24H2. Linpack Xtreme no longer works.

I am dual booting with 10 and it works just fine there. Something is different.

OKay, i'll reenable it and look if i see anything change, there is only games on that PC tbh (100%).
Definitely give CPB another shot and see if it makes a difference in your gaming. Just keep an eye on the temps, though. If it runs hotter but you're not seeing a big boost, it might be worth sticking with it off for those less demanding games.

24H2 is hot pile of mess. For some reason it borked my Mouse and had to get a new one. Now it has auto Wallpaper refresh meaning your display is now connected to the Internet. I actually had to reset Windows to get it to work. It only went black instead of totally losing mouse control after the change though.
