More often than not you're watching 15 minutes of bullshit
15? I wish. More like 20, 25, or longer. :( I almost always never watch - even those from presenters I like. If I do watch, I slide it over to a secondary monitor and maybe catch what they say.

Kind of sensationalist to me... keyword is second hand, ie. used. It's always been buyer beware buying used crap. Threads all over about fake gpus from sketchy places etc etc.

Now if this came from a retailer, then yea its newsworthy.

This could have just been some dumb display sample someone resold and there may not actually be a vast criminal conspiracy of manufacturing of fake CPU's to this incredible level of detail and craftmanship.

Yeap, anything's possible. But this is just clicks for cash.

Ironically someone could probably resell this on ebay now honestly as a rare deepfake CPU collectors item for more than the actual CPU would have been worth especially now an internet celebrity has touched it. All Der8auer needs to do is add some laser etching and resell for a charity event.

They might show up in more European countries soon, who knows.
I've been seeing a lot of suspicious Amazon listings recently for 7950x, 7950x3d, 7800x3d, and now 9950x typically following a pattern of $100 below trending prices. Amazon seems to put's what I would consider suspicious and strangely named sellers operating in Canada. I constantly have to click the other sellers link to find the real amazon listing. Buyer beware and double check your seller/shipper folks!

Der8auer discovered a fake AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D that one of his followers bought from a second-hand platform.
The product looked authentic, but there was no chip module under the heatspreader.
It is unclear how many of these counterfeit chips are in circulation.

Bruce purchased a counterfeit Ryzen 7 7800X3D processor from Romanian second-hand platform OLX for 300 euros.
When the chip arrived, it was found to be non-functional. Bruce decided to take out a multimeter to check the product, and found that there was no power to it.
He then got in touch with der8auer, who subsequently purchased the counterfeit chip.

Weren't there fake AM4 CPUs in the past? Same IHS swaps

With todays manufacturing techniques, this really would not be hard to do at all..

Not even todays techniques.. counterfeit CPU;s have been a thing for a couple of decades now if not more..

Heck locked multipliers were created because of counterfeit products..
