If you mean Licensed distilleries, by far. There is like 200 in England and Scotland.

There are around a hundred active in Kentucky, and rather less in TN.

We probably produce more by volume though, between Jack Daniels and Ole Smokey.

More perspective (I love these comparisons):

Population of Tennessee is about 7 million. 42,000 square miles
Population of UK is about 67 million. 94,000 square miles

UK is over twice as large as Tennessee, but has over 9 times the population.

More - England alone has 56 million people in 50,000 square miles.
So, England is a little larger than Tennessee but has 8 times the population.

Now I'm looking at pop density maps....
That's exactly what makes the UK/England (I mean, your personal space in it) feel small. There's way too many people/cars per square mile here.

Edit: Sometimes I wish I could live in Scotland instead. :(

Don't forget Ireland. They make a barrel or three of Whiskey there too. ;)
They don't have a convenient wikipedia page with a list of distilleries...

Although it looks like they had 32 distilleries as of 2019 of which 4 were in Northern Ireland, and up to 18 more planning to open.

This is the bread I was talking about before. Cut it in half, toast it, add goat butter, tuna steak (mixed with mayo/olive oil), and cucumber slices on top. Or sometimes I just make it with goat butter and eat it like butter toast. It is very lovely bread. Seems I am not alone in thinking this, considering the reviews.

Honestly I'd probably blame that on eating out and fast food in a general sense, a tuna steak on bread like that isn't that bad for you. Also, car culture winning out here like it did in America. One benefit of public transport, as much as I hate it, I am standing around, walking a lot, etc. I never eat out either, well, extremely rarely. So, nothing being fried in my diet probably also goes a long way.

Ciabatta and sourdough are the best kinds of bread you can find. Although, I prefer the fresh ones from the bakery section. I live by the creed of "bread in a bag is not bread". :D Warburton's Tiger loaf is sort of a halfway exception because it still has a somewhat crunchy top crust.

I blame it on car culture and the diet. Brits are probably the only nation I've seen that likes eating carbs with carbs (chip butty, wtf?). I'll also never understand what's wrong with some people getting in the car to drive to the toilet. It's like walking is an idea from the devil or something.

Britain is too small to have so many cars. People are lazy though, in my city the council put cycle lanes in certain roads but had to remove them as car drivers whined so much.
I might not have the best diet but exercise regularly which kind of makes up for it. I am probably fitter at 55 than some 20 year olds, and have a resting heart rate in the 40's/min

Hey man don't mix car culture with lazy people that use their car to drive down the road lol.
The car culture here is going to get destroyed at this rate with how stupid the government is, not to mention everything is now over inflated if you are into aftermarket parts.
Also the car culture is filled with boring german cars.

I'm not picking on the average English Joe's diet due to health concerns (that would be quite hypocritical coming from me, lol), but because it contradicts basic logic at times. I mean, take some soggy bread from a bag, put it into a toaster to crisp up a little, then pour baked beans on top of it to make it soggy again. What's the point? :kookoo:

As someone born in another country, I also find the lack of variety disturbing. I like eating out because I like trying something new and unique to each restaurant from time to time, but pub food is just pub food everywhere you go. Don't get me wrong, I'll never say no to a juicy steak or burger, or a Sunday roast, but if I make the effort to get out of the house and pay more than I would at a supermarket, then I'd like the chef to make the effort to create something unique to his/her taste for me. I'm not a big fan of chain restaurants for this reason (even though I like the fact that they offer the same quality everywhere).

Totally agreed. I don't know what's with German cars, honestly. Personally, I find them uninspiring and bland.

For people who don't work remote, how do you get packages delivered? My friend said they won't leave the package at the door by itself cause of thieves, so how do people who don't work from home ever get any packages if this is the case? This isn't an issue where I am from in America, at least not in my area.

Personally, I work nights, so I'm always home when packages arrive. Back when I worked days, like normal people, I used to ask for special delivery for my chosen day and time. When that wasn't possible (for example, with Amazon), I made sure to order my stuff on certain days of the week so that the estimated delivery would fall on the weekend.

How is this not an issue in America?

Thats the only benefit chain restaurants have, at least there is some consistency in quality and to be honest I haven't eaten at a pub in a year now.
I did eat at some fancy brazillian grill restaurant in Birmingham last year but mainly eat asian food(thai, viet, jap, chinese) as that is kind of my preference(being chinese I guess).

To be honest the average british joe food palette is boring, unless its ribs, steak, burger, pasta, pizza and battered fish. You will never catch them try anything else.

When I used to work in office fulltime and I don't trust my parents to be home, I get the packages sent to the office where the receptionist or warehouse worker will accept the packages.

I just live in a nice area, never had a package stolen once, sometimes they sit there all day on my front porch. lol

Anyways, I just read this, Windomere Lake has had massive amounts of illegal raw sewage dumped in it. Man, one of the most beautiful places in all of the UK, truly a shame anyone would even have the lack of morality to do this.

Thankfully, I can say the same, but this is quite rare, especially in my town, to be honest.

Wow! :( I thought water companies were closely tied to their local councils.

On another note, I just got an email from Openreach that my area has been added to their build plans for fibre line construction, and they'll let me know when they know more. Does this mean that I'll finally reach the magical and fantastical 50 Mbps speed to be able to watch Youtube while downloading a Steam game within the next 10 years or so?

Thankfully, I can say the same, but this is quite rare, especially in my town, to be honest.

Wow! :( I thought water companies were closely tied to their local councils.

On another note, I just got an email from Openreach that my area has been added to their build plans for fibre line construction, and they'll let me know when they know more. Does this mean that I'll finally reach the magical and fantastical 50 Mbps speed to be able to watch Youtube while downloading a Steam game within the next 10 years or so?
The cheeks of these companies charging us extortionate and increasing it every year for them to not do their job properly.
Kinda like me paying a "maintenance" fee every month for our estate to be "maintained", well my previous neighbour/tenant damaged "THEIR" slabs and they can't be bothered to replace them.
Its not like we like living in a new area with damaged goods right and paying it for it to look like garbage.

For people who don't work remote, how do you get packages delivered? My friend said they won't leave the package at the door by itself cause of thieves, so how do people who don't work from home ever get any packages if this is the case? This isn't an issue where I am from in America, at least not in my area.

Ive known people to have stuff delivered to them at their place of work while they are at work. Depending who you work for and where you work, this may or may not be ok. You would need to speak to management about it. If its something important and a one off, they may let you do it just the once.

Otherwise some companies will let you schedule your delivery or give you the ability to add a second delivery address or instructions in case youre not around. Some residents here have 'safe boxes' that blend in with their front yard where small parcels can be stashed out of direct view of someone who is walking or driving past.

I live near a post office depot here so if a delivery has failed multiple times (and it has because they deliver to a house around the corner with the same door number...) then they'll usually leave me a ticket telling me where to collect it or update the status of the tracking information online that they left it at the post office dept and to collect from there. Not going to work for everyone but its a lot safer than leaving it out in your yard.

Its normally Hermes that dont bother even trying to hide stuff. They'll knock, ring your doorbell. take a picture of your parcel chilling on the ground where they dumped it then move on to their next delivery without even waiting a minute to see if someone opens the door.

Look in your nearest recycle bin for an old magazine. Its what i did when I didnt have a mouse mat.

::EDIT::

Or maybe you have some table coasters lying around.
