This is just Nvidia's new try to give us the Nvidia Experience junk.
Junk! That's a good word and most apropos!

They deleted the shield feature, why???I needed it.
They haven't updated the Shield in donkey's years and no new models have been produced or are planned. It sucks, but them dropping support for something they're not making is just how it goes.

With it being a web app when offline it's completely useless. We have student machines at work that have nvidia.com blocked and it makes us unable to use it at all. They have the studio drivers loaded for productivity apps. Looks like I will have to put in a request to get some changes.

that's not correct. it runs a browser, but the content is coming from your local machine. It does download some information from NV and stores it locally, like game detection profiles, profiles for game tweaks and of course the marketing texts. I tested it, and it works fine completely offline, check the relevant text in the review

I mean, it's no more a "web app" than any of the other Electron-powered abominations that people install every day.

Strange. For me the global driver settings are blank when used offline. I wonder if it requires at least one connection to download the needed panels.

It's good they're updating the app now as I just switched to an AMD GPU

It's been in beta for months, if that's what you were after.

Garbage. The legacy panel is what any driver panel should be, especially the UWP version - it’s out of the way, takes no resources, has a clean and concise UI and all the features one needs. Replacing it with a Chromium app is silly. What, just to make it look pretty? Please. I did test drive the App in beta and still have the opinion from when it was announced - it’s unnecessary. If it replaced GFE only - fine. But forcing it on people who never used any GFE features and just need a basic CP to control their GPU is ridiculous.
How is it out of the way if i have to kill the nv service to stop it from running all the time?
Oh that 29MB sure is sweet compared to 150MB on the new one. What will i ever do with that extra 121MB?
How is the new one not clean with concise UI?
The old one lacks all GFE features. I dont see AMD users complaining that they have one proper hub.
i spend how long in the control panel?
10 bit full RGB, 360Hz, G-Sync On, Shader Cache unlimited, close and exit for ever.
it works, it's small and includes nothing except of exactly what you need to setup your GPU/Monitors.
If you spend so little time there then why does it matter that they've updated it?
It's slow, the UI doesn't scale well with high DPI displays (or anything past HD resolution, period), and it looks outdated.
And it lacks dark mode so it's great to burn in my retinas and OLED monitor.
Going through the comments over here it's funny how no one misses the Radeon control panel from ATI days and uses modern AMD app instead without issues, but somehow NVCP is something no one should even try to replace in 2024.
Exactly. In few years no one will miss NVCP either.
Compared to what? Are you changing your video settings shortly before having to catch a bus?
Compared to modern control panels.
Here's one for you: it works.
Oh the horror. Now your system uses 150MB instead of 29MB. How will it ever fit into expensive and limited RAM now. /s
I had hoped Nvidia App would fully replace NVCP and GFE with this, but nope, we ended up with a 3rd app. Here is to hoping they keep adding features like undervolting and eventually it's one polished and speedy app for everything.

I'll leave the other two not installed and keep using NVCP.
Another one that failed to read the article.
Control app is more than enough for me.
And you can keep using it.
From what i can see barely any option from the NVCP has been ported over, only Video RTX no one cares about.

From this article i see no way to enable DSR, Anti-Aliasing, Anisotropic Filtering, FPS Limit, Texture Filtering, V-Sync, Performance Mode etc etc... nothing, it's all gone.

And this suppost to replace the NVCP... wow, i hope i won't live to see the day then.

Is it somehow haram for you to just go into Settings - Installed Apps and in the preferences for the NV CP click the Never on the Always run in the background dialog? Because that’s what I did and I never have to kill any services. It activates when I launch it and closes when I am done. The only NV process running on my PC is the core driver itself.

Rest isn’t worth answering, just nitpicking as Lex said.

Nitpicking by weirdos who like their XP era dialogs and think these should stick around forever. I have blocked lex. I have no desire to argue with morons.

I could understand rational arguments like features that have not yet been ported over or some sort of technical issue with the new app but so far most of the negativity comes from people with very weak arguments and mostly "feelings".
It's ironic that the people complaining about it being a web app or consuming a whole 150MB are likely typing these comments from software that is way newer and consumes way more RAM than 150MB. But Nvidia daring to phase out NVCP? That's where they drew the red line? lol.

Context isn't your strong suit. Function over fashion. Yes, yes. That's only logical and, you know, intelligent. But whatever, I'm a moron aren't I... :kookoo:

Aha, yes, I think it has to download those once. Good question, I'd assume that it should be trivial to bundle them in the installer.

Yeah, it needs to have everything included with the installer.
Yeah, given the release cadence, it shouldn't be hard including all the game profiles, too, so only newest unreleased titles need an online update

I don't like Experience and it's integrated, if there's a way to remove/not install it - fine.
I don't have a problem with 150MB, but that it runs constantly and lowers my scores in benchmarks.
I don't like junk like:
NVIDIA's app contains a miniature version of the Google Chrome web browser.
to run in the background on my computer.
Are these valid arguments for you?

The missed opportunity here is that, since Nvidia has already made it run on top of Chrome engine, they could have made it available for Linux, too. I mean, the Linux control panel is older than the one on Windows. And it only works with X.
But hey, maybe something for future versions. Right?

Maybe most people like that. Have you considered it?
I don't have a problem with 150MB, but that it runs constantly and lowers my scores in benchmarks.
Current driver also runs continuously. How often do you benchmark that a few background processes meaningfully affect you scores?
Those that properly run benchmarks kill all background processes anyway.
Are these valid arguments for you?
The ability to pick and choose what components to install via the installer is valid. The fact that it runs continuously and lowers benchmark scores is not.

Overclocking and Fan curves would be something I would want in the basic software.
I assume this isn't in NVIDIA's software, because AIBs have a range of components to choose from for overclocking and have their own firmware installed on their cards, hence why AIBs have 5x models for the same GPU chip, ex. Gigabyte having a RTX 4070 Aorus, Gaming, Aero, and Eagle. I'd also guess NVIDIA doesn't include OCing software because of warranties. And nor do all AIBs use the same fans.
So... AIBs all have their own software to manage the fans, OCing, and RGB. While at the same time sometimes the software also is used for their mobos, AIOs, PSUs, etc.

Unfortunately for you this is just a rhetorical trick and prejudice, you haven't achieved anything, and the only logical response to this is to simply point that fact out, that its a trick and the work of someone who has no training in informal reasoning. Nada. Your deliberately ignoring that with this new stuff comes encroachments. what control panel offers is fully sufficient for many peoples needs, you get to a point where modifying the app doesn't add any core features and just adds bloat and other problems. Remember Corsair software for their keyboards? they were so lite and powerful and now the new stuff is bloated toxic garbage, its the law of enshitification. So your argument here is invalid, as its based on the uncritical (shady on your behalf) presumption that the product needs to be changed, based on rhetoric alone instead of actual reasons and facts.
I have no desire to argue with morons.
Here again shows your complete lack of intellect, no credentials right? nada. My words here are not insults, they are facts or observations. Here you just repeated the same uncritical presumption, in addition to the ad hominem fallacy (a fallacy is an objective mistake-like getting math wrong) your insult is also a loaded language type fallacy, you have made an unwarranted assumption that is needed for your argument to work in the first place, but that assumption in addition to being prejudice is circular, it hasn't been verified because by its structure it cannot be. Thats what rhetoric merchants do, no skill, nada.

Control Panel works great for me and I have no desire to replace it. You can call me a weirdo, that perfectly fine, being a rational man I cant get offended by it, doing so wouldn't make any logical sense. If Nvidia wont to do some improving why don't they just start with getting the costs down, upping the warranty, Sorry team green I cannot afford a 4000dollar gpu. Man i swear there is so little incentive to get into PC gaming nowadays.:toast:
