I installed the "Solidigm NVMe Modded+Tunings" driver and gave it a go. Set up currently I have a 2TB Crucial P5 NVMe PCIe Gen 3 as my OS drive, an 8TB Samsung QVO SATA SSD installed internally, a QNAP direct storage box with 4x10TB HDD's in RAID 5 and just to test with a 500GB Hynix M.2 NVMe PCIe Gen 3 in a USB 3.2 Gen 2 external enclosure.

Unfortunately, after rebooting Windows started to hang and none of the icons on my drives would show up, just blank white icons. I could still access all of them except the Hynix. Event viewer shows errors from the 500GB Hynix in the external enclosure (Event ID 153) and my QNAP RAID 5 HDD DAS was being issued a reset at "RAID port 3" (Event ID 129) so I had to roll back to the Windows driver again. I did manage to run CrystalDisk Mark before and after on my 2TB Crucial. Seems like there is an improvement with the modded driver especially on the writes.

Thank you so much for reporting this and actually going through those bumpy road. I'm sorry if I caused any inconveniences regarding RaidPort thing on event viewer can be skipped and most of the time is false positive but IO operation thing can't be ignored unfortunately

I guess not all SSD NVMe work with this solidigm driver but that's a great improvements on RND4K in general

Thank you for that , I knew about it I have 2 PCs at my work and tested the latest or newer Solidigm driver on an generic HP SSD NVMe drive and it BSOD with "irq_not_less... something something" BSOD under any random use while indicating the problem to storport.sys file.

I am trying to fix it & use the latest Solidigm driver with my fixes but After testing for 4 days long without turning off my laptop, it unfortunately BSOD with this error "driver power state failure" when I wake the laptop from sleep or when I keep it at idle for far too long... it did two times.. one when it woke up from sleep & the other ones when I kept it at idle without anything running at the background, I will have to get back re-check and find out what is causing this that leads to this BSOD

Using MS Stock or Solidigm(the one posted in the Main OP) doesn't cause this kind of BSOD and completely stable on my laptop & 2 of my PC work I won't release a new Solidigm NVMe driver to the public unless I make sure that it is completely 100% stable

It might work for others without issues but the chance of having a BSOD is what worries me and holding me back into releasing the new Solidigm NVMe driver I will update the post whenever I am sure it won't cause issues. I fixed the irq & dpc problems with the new Solidigm NVMe driver but the BSODs during idle or waking up from sleep still not fixed... I will call it "W.I.P."

Thank you for your time reporting this and for your time testing it Looks like Solidigm ones[especially Solidigm+Tunings] are better in general on RND4K which we should focus on If you want Intel Solid State+Tunings... I will have a look about it but no promises though

Today I'm sharing this driver which Solidigm promises performance improvements & more responsive user experience made by Solidigm. I have modded the driver to work on all NVMe SSDs and any NVMe SSDs, as long as it's NVMe.. this will work.

They got a feature called "Fast Lane" where they explain how it works as I quote...

"The Synergy 2.0 NVMe driver. Version 2.0 promises even more performance than previous versions. Solidigm describes its improved NVMe driver as follows: "An Intelligent and Responsive Storage Driver Compatible with all Solidigm client SSDs, the Solidigm Synergy Driver offers a variety of user experience optimizations. Test before & after and decide if you want to keep using this driver or not Focus on RND4K read/writes, that's what the Solidigm driver are focusing for That's what is most important parameter for day to day usage. They are the ones that Windows typically uses [RND4K] in almost all kind of read/write operations.

• If you are willing to continue then please be careful and mindful on each step... especially when doing the Uninstall Instructions. Notice that using apps like [Samsung Magician, Micron Storage Executive, Crucial Storage Executive, etc...] with solidigm custom driver might cause issues.

Install Instructions:-

• Simply download the file from the attachment of this post.
• Extract the .7z file. [Use 7zip]
• Simply run setup.bat file & reboot!
• Enjoy!

Uninstall Instructions:-

• Get back to Microsoft Stock NVMe driver through device manager 1st.
• Click on Driver Tab and then click on "Update Driver" and then click on "Browse my computer for drivers"
• Then click on "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer" and then select on "Standard NVMe Express Controller" and then click on "Next"
• Reboot
• Then remove it through Rapr [It's named solidnvm.inf]. Get RAPR from here https://github.com/lostindark/DriverStoreExplorer

I have made two versions of it...

• One is Solidigm driver without any modifications except making it work on all NVMe drives
• Second one got the name tag [+Tunings] on the file name. Also works on all NVMe SSDs drives. I have added modded tunings that Samsung and Phison uses on there own NVMe drivers like transaction sizes, interrupt coalescing times, interrupt parameters, and performance parameters like transfer size and number of I/O queues

Works great!

There is a way to slightly boost your ssd performance by disabling idle processor state from power settings. Easiest way to do it is by using PowerSettingsExplorer utility to enable this hidden option in current Power plan. Downside of this option is a lot higher cpu temperature at idle. At load, cpu temp does not change. It lowers system latency as well and I did notice smoother gameplay in TF2 on 100 player server and games with bursts of cpu load, such as mmo-s.

Although the write score is lower than before, write speed does tend to oscilate a lot between runs. 4k read got a small boost and latency did as well so it is a net increase in my book.

I have made & used the latest Soldigim version 2.3.0.1023, nothing else is touched
Test this out, and to everyone who wants to beta test it. Simply run setup.bat and after that import this .reg file and reboot.

What this .reg file do... is this makes sure that it got prefetch [Fast Lane] feature to be enabled on the latest Solidigm NVME version release and also enabled Dynamic Queues feature + InterruptCoalescing tunings + NvmeApst enabled.

Previous version (the old ones 2.2.0.1017) it was enabled by default but on the newer ones (latest Soldigim version 2.3.0.1023) they applied some kind of checking mechanism to see if you have Solidigm NVME SSD drive installed or not & after that they disable/enable features according to it. I simply found the keys inside .sys files & enabled it all after digging through deeply inside the .sys file

I have added lots of related prefetch [Fast Lane feature] options on it, currently I am using it conservatively but you can scale it up if you want to go higher then simply edit those values and increase the numbers of those keys below...

• PrefetchActivationRequestsNumber
• PrefetchStreamBufferSizeInkb
• PrefetchStreamsNumber
• PrefetchMaxRequestSupportedSizeInkb

Experiment those keys at your own risk, Currently almost 3 weeks in with those values implemented at "1" and completely 100% stable on all 4 systems [2 laptops & 2 PCs]

This is what is inside .reg file looks like... simply rename from .txt file to .reg file and double click on it to import the keys

Your first driver gave me the best results, but I also got the same error as @RootinTootinPootin.
The second driver is about 300MB slower in writing, but there's no error.

It happens even on solidigm SSD driver users , look at solildigm forums, the new version supposedly should fix it but you can still see it pop up by checking solildigm forums comments that it does report it from time to time. It is nothing serious about it & it is 100% completely harmless, I have had those errors before on Sk Hynix P31 Gold while using completely stock MS-InBox drivers. So it is more like useless reports or false postive one still works till now since 2020

according to solidigm developers the newest version driver those reports shouldn't happen but you still see users commenting that it happens, I have seen many & many comments like those for example

The setup.bat driver should overwrite and force update it to solidigm driver try it and check device manager... if it doesn't change anything then remove micron nvme storage controller driver and then re-run setup.bat again you should be golden

So I applied the new drivers and the registry file, from my initial testing, the write speeds on the optane kinda fell down a tad bit, while on my regular Gen 4 NVME's the read was a tad worse, I used to see around 80+MB on the read, while on the optane the random write speeds on the q1t1 were usually 300MB's, but overall, nothing too unusual and might be a run variance. (freshly formatted to 24H2, albeit the previous run was from 23H2)

Thank you so much for those tests and reportings! the slight decrease is because of the loggings that is running in the background that is made for Solidigm Synergy app. I plan to remove it on the next Solidigm driver release [Don't worry I'm not removing any safety stuff ] and will add a couple of small fixes that Solidigm Developers used to ignore doing it
