I really like to dip my fish in apple sauce, not tartar sauce. One thing that is interesting, in America we buy apple sauce in giant jars, but here the only apple sauce you can find is in super tiny glass jars. I basically have to buy one of these for each fish meal I eat, because they are so damn tiny. :roll:

o_O:eek::fear::twitch::wtf:
I've done the lemon & lime juice thing, but apple sauce?!?

it was a habit I developed as a kid, my mom would give me fish sticks and apple sauce because for obvious reasons, most kids prob don't like tartare sauce, I do like it now to be fair, I generally switch between the two :laugh:

Ok, cool. Different strokes. I meant no offense of course. Just never heard of that one. I do like apple sauce and peanut butter toast sandwiches

Apple butter could be good, if it is not too sweet.

Over here, apple sauce is mostly used as garnish for a Sunday roast, mostly pork. It's not your main dish by any means.

Mint sauce is definitely the way to go for lamb.

Mint sauce is definitely the way to go for lamb.

Although I have also heard of horseradish sauce being served with it. Anything that adds some tang/acidity

Are there any good temp agencies in the UK? Looks like I may extend my visa and might look for work through a temp agency for some extra income.

In USA temp agencies can be hit or miss, not sure if it's same here or not. I know that after 7 visits since 2010, I do like it here though enough I want to be here for an extended stay, I have bonded with my friend, and the dog we raised together in 2022, I can't bare to leave her at this point. She is the best dog in the world, so yeah, going to settle down.

The one I was affiliated with for a while was called 'Manpower'

REED also do temporary jobs but Manpower used to be one of the more widely known ones.

Im not sure about others. Most job search sites will also have temp job listings. Otherwise there is always deliveroo/ubereats etc :laugh:

Nah, I am not doing any delivery stuff, I don't like driving much, even in America I don't like driving much.

Those will get me started thanks, I would prefer to avoid Indeed, etc. and just go straight to temp agency websites. Those meta job search sites are typically a waste of time in America.

Manpower used to deal in a lot of temping work back in the day. I'm not sure if they are big on it as they used to be

Also Its worth checking online if there is a branch near you. Quite often its easier to walk in and tell them the kind of work youre looking for rather than going via the 'apply online' search route. If i remember correctly. Back then there were different departments that dealt with different sides of the business. One focused on more corporate roles while the other was more about general temping like youre helping a big removals company move some stuff from one office to the next etc. Manpower used to deal with a lot of Royal Mail jobs aswell but I think RM has their own 'recruitment agency' deal with it

It depends on your area. In the Midlands, there's lots of agencies and lots of work, although you have to be careful which company they send you to work with. Some of them like firing temporary staff after Christmas and/or when business slows down and re-hiring them when it picks up. Some of them offer so-called temp-to-perm positions which means you automatically get a company contract with guaranteed working hours after 3-6 months of agency work. Those are the ones to look for, imo.
