I do consider this users error, I'm just amazed.

I only touch PC components (CPU, mobo, GPU when my case is laying on the large side (motherboard tray is position paralelly to table's surface). It is the only way to do modifications which does not stress the components.

Once I saw how one dude was installing twin tower CPU cooler while the motherboard was in upright position to the ground. There were 2 screws to fix that tower to the base. He was tightening that small screws in order to bring tower to CPU's surface and fix it. Using that 2 small screws to sit bring closer and sit that 1000g tower cooler ...

And it only takes putting the case on the side to do that absolutely comfortably and not stressing anything.

That user is one lazy dumbass.
Same, I know Microcenter has a service where they build the PC for you. I believe Bestbuy might have a similar service. I used it one time with an extremely busy schedule. I was pleasantly surprised of the results.

Update. Small form factor build vs full tower 360mm aio performance using 9800x3d and 7800X3D by PC world. Some games throttle although I believe it could be the gpu as well.

Still can't believe how far down the gaming performance chart the new Intel 285K is. It's shocking lol. All that R&D, newest and best process node and complete design and they end up in 11th position...View attachment 370490

Who even game at 720p in 2024?? Do they exist at all?

In reality it does not matter if you have a 12/13/14/15th gen intel or even a 5800X3D, they are all equally fast in 4K with a 4090.

Even my 65W Ryzen 7900 is only 1% slower than my 13900K in this resolution.

But yes, i agree the 285K is a real bummer from Intel.

4k dlss set to ultra performance? The 5090 if 50% delta performance gains will probably have the same delta at 1080p as the 4090 has at 720p.

CL36 is a bit slow for Ryzen and other issues. Would like this whole review to be redone correctly with:
  • Windows 11 24H2
  • DDR5 6000 CL30 RAM
  • VBS disabled

8 cores is a bit on the low side. Should have been a 12-core from the get go. 8 power cores and 4 e-cores.

Gaming is a very short term. It will become bottlenecked as soon as a game which requires 9 cores appears.
I swear games use what resources are available? Hyper Threading? 5800X3D is still a beast and is 8 cores. See a pattern there?
That will be slower because two chiplets with very slow interconnect speed between them, read ultra high latencies..
Both chiplets will have 3D v cache and they've had a generation to iron out scheduling bugs. I see both 9900X3D and 9950X3D being monsters with higher clocks and correct scheduling.
Did you know recently GN discovered their 7950X3D had a scheduling problem since launch got it fixed and beat the 7800X3D? Look it up...

The problem, that prevents the 7950X3D to beat the 7800X3D is not the scheduling (yes, for some users it was an additional problem), but the added latency of the 2CCD.
And that is not fixed. In gaming, 7800X3D is still faster.

Go and watch the GN video and then come back and apologise. Thanks! :)

Yeah, you wont find it, because it does not exist. Not now, not ever.
I apologise for not finding something, that does not exist. My bad.

So yeah, it is still not beating it.
4-5 examples of the two cpus performing the same, and 1-1 win for each.

If you test a bigger number of games, the average always, once again, always favors the 7800X3D.
Because the latency is still there because of the 2 CCDs.

Core parking problems are pretty old news.

GN just reported their own test number corrections.
Their own old vs new stats.

Okay. I can't debate without wanting to murder people so sure, whatever you say.

i noticed some data inconsistency in the game test results. take 12400f, for example, which was lower than 5600x during its first review but higher in this 9800x3d review, did they re-test all of them or something

Yeah, but who game in 1080p on a 4090?

I guess no one.
Those graphs show the raw CPU gaming power. So, for upcoming games and more powerful GPUs the buyer can easily decide what to select.

Yes,

But for now, and most probably also for the upcoming Blackwell GPU's, it really does not matter much as long as you have one of the latest generation CPU's from AMD or Intel if you game in 4K, which is what a high end GPU like the 4090 and upcoming 5080/5090 is meant for.
