It's been a while since I've been there, how does the TV permit thing work with internet streaming? Do you still have to have one?
Basically you can watch internet streaming on a "TV" without TV license needed as long as its not a "live" stream.
No, unless you're streaming the BBC channels.
You do need a TV license to watch BBC channels + their BBC iplayer thing yes but also...
Example:
1. If I wanted to watch a live premier league match(football match, its not soccer get that out of here) via Amazon prime on my "TV" I would need a TV license.
2. The same can be said about watching any of the WWE livestreams that get broadcast on Netflix at 2am in the morning, that requires a TV license to watch it on my "TV".
3. The Mike Tyson Vs Jake Paul on Netflix, if I wanted to watch it "live" I would need a TV license
You can watch those live on your monitor or phone though as that doesn't fall into the silly definition of "TV", broadcasting it from your phone/PC to your TV isn't "allowed" either but how would they know..

Watching online
You need to be covered by a TV Licence to watch live on streaming services - such as ITVX, Channel 4, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, Now, Sky Go, YouTube, Netflix and Freely.
You don't need a TV Licence if you never watch live on any channel, pay TV service or streaming service, or use BBC iPlayer*.
This includes recording and downloading. On any device.
Watching YouTube
You don’t need a TV Licence to watch videos or clips on demand on YouTube.
But you DO need a TV Licence if you watch TV live on YouTube. An example of this would be watching Sky News live. But it isn’t just live news or sport which needs a licence – it’s any programme which is part of a TV channel, shown or transmitted for everyone to watch at the same time.
