Who knows, maybe I will get one.

RTX 5000 is effectively the same generation as RTX 4000. Same perf/watt, same even in their blessed RT and DLSS, no meaningful hardware features outside of silly frame gen. Nvidia has proven they are at the mercy of TSMC fab improvements like everyone else.

I'll pass on this whole fake new gen, and wait for RTX 6070/6080 in time to take down next-gen consoles (PS6/Xbox5) in 2-3 years, which will actually be on a new lithography by then.

This probably also means the 5070 Ti is slower than the 4080.
It should be slightly weaker than RTX 4080 by current rumors. Still it's better deal than the RTX 4080 Super right now (if the price is right)

So the RTX 5000 series is expensive, very expensive, draws a lot of power like V12. Sometimes it looks like a tweaked version of the RTX 4000, just squeezed. What's worse is that prices have increased for the fastest model and nothing justifies 2000$, not for gaming. It's the fastest card, but the game requirements don't stand still. If the poor performance of the RTX 5080 is confirmed, it's closer to the 4080 Ti. Only this one had more memory... so in fact it's not even really "Ti". Which more than once had performance practically like the Titan.
Nvidia may have the fastest card, but more because AMD gave up fighting for the leadership and it gains growth mainly from DLSS, FG. While the performance increase might be acceptable for the 5090, it will probably be embarrassing for the 5080, it's a 4080 facelift, not a new series, there's nothing here that's worth $1000 outside of the MFG and those are FE MSRP prices anyway, there should be a refreshed XX80 worth, say $800. PC gamers may have cards in stores (that to be seen), but the prices are like from the cryptocurrency madness (2k$ for 5090 and AIB prices :banghead:).

There is/was but not in RT.
If you didn't play just a few games that were worth turning on RT, then the 7900 were quite attractive cards. Especially since the launch price of the RTX 4080 is a bad joke. And even so, the performance of the RTX 4080 in 4K with RT without DLSS, FG was pathetic - 30 frames for $1200, so the 7900 for $1000 and 20 frames is not better.
However, this shows the hopelessness of the situation and the completely inadequate price of the cards or their performance to price (71% increase over the RTX 3080).

I totally get that but if AMD wanted to they could for sure kill the 5080 by just making a monolithic RDNA4 card the size of the 7900XTX and they aren't even that competent in my book...

I guarantee you AMD is kicking themselves right now.
AMD ? Home PC GPU ? For Gaming ? AI, AI, AI...

When was the last time ? People were buying overpriced RTX 40 Series like a crazy without even thinking twice. If this will continue the same way with RTX 50 Series situation with RTX 60 Series will be even worse p/p wise.

As soon as we got wind of spec’s it was obvious that was going to be the case. Gotta leave room for the 5080s/5080ti for $1499msrp ($1699 starting street price).

The whole lineup will see minimal improvements, and price v. performance won’t move. Not really much purchasing incentive if you ask me, very few games need more than 4070s class performance for the large majority of consumers.
You mean $2500 because stores will get a total stock of 5 units.

No one cares about gamers anymore, too much money in AI customers, they can keep prices high and still sell every single card, even AMD enjoys this to a smaller extent.

This is the AMD Instinct OAM platform. The MI300A APU version houses 1,824 GPU processors and 384 Zen 4 threads. The staggering amount of engineering required to connect 8 together with a superfast, coherent interconnect is mind-blowing. The platform runs the most powerful supercomputer mankind has ever built. So its not so much incompetence of non-Nvidia GPU makers but rather the ignorance of its customers.

If AMD customers are ignorant, that is on AMD marketing, not the customer. Do Your Job, AMD.

1080 Ti held its own vs 2080 , not super , 5080 will be about the same , the jump from 3090 to 4090 , for a 100 dollars more , 3090TI $1999.99 , for me it's not a question of money , but common sense , next gen is a big question mark , competition is needed , as long as my current gaming needs are met , cost notting to drop from full RT .

I'm not nvidias enemy :) but RTX 20 and RTX 40 series are complete crap in comparision to GTX 900 Series or GTX 1000 Series. And RTX 50 Series aren't looking too great either. For me the only way out looks like RX 9070 XT "if it's" really 30-40% faster than the RX 7800 XT. As good as RTX 5070 Ti is it still "probably" will be overpriced in comparison to AMD offering.

"new leak"???
For god's sake, this has been obvious for the past year, to anyone with a functioning brain and a basic understanding of the computer hardware industry.
Nvidia wants to be allowed to sell the RTX 5080 in China, therefore it will have similar or lower performance than the RTX 4090D.
The RTX 5080 was leaked about half a year ago as having 10752 CUDA cores, on effectively the same manufacturing node as Lovelace, so it couldn't realistically be much faster than the RTX 4080 Super (10240 CUDA cores - so the 5080 should be faster, but with only 5% more cores and a node that's only about 10% better, it will still be way behind the 4090).
Anyone who thought the RTX 5080 could have higher performance than an RTX 4090, is an idiot.
Idiots being wrong isn't really news, but I suppose it's an opportunity to gloat "I told you so".

I TOLD YOU SO!!!

"new leak"???
Well, I expected 5080 to be 5% faster than a 4090, not as it turned out and 5070 Ti 5% slower trying to position it closer similar to how 4070 Ti was at 3090 level.. But who knew Nvidia will have the audacity to push 50 series as a 4x frame gen patch with faster memory.

The 5xxx series feels like a skippable one if you already have a 4xxx card (or maybe even a higher end 3xxx card).

Inevitable with how quickly the release cycle has gotten, it's like the yearly Madden or Fifa there's only so much change that can be squeezed in to a small lead up time.

Kind of like an iPhone.. you don't buy one every year, you buy one every two or three years. If you do buy yearly that means you are just an enthusiast.
