RX 7800 XT, RX 7900 XT and RX 7900 XTX right now are in stock! Why you are even looking at RTX 5070 Ti as a competition at this stage ? It's still very clearly a warm turd right now!
The 9070 XT is expected to be about as fast as the 7900 XTX and cost about as much as that RX 7900 XT, so it's still better than what we have currently.
It's mediocre, but it is at least an improvement over last gen and over what the competitor is offering, so not DoA.

RTX 50 Series effects people's minds way to much their high prices should not be set as the new standard because it's a true lie.

Yeah. My point is that people will buy it at that price, not that they should buy it at that price. The modern GPU market sucks, and that won't change until people start withholding their money until we get good deals again.

According to leaks/rumours, AMD apparently expected RDNA3 to be able to clock much faster than it ended up doing, which prevented it from reaching its performance targets. It was supposed to be able to reach 2.9GHz, but barely goes above 2.7 in practice and none of the GPUs go above 2.5GHz at stock (though some factory OC cards are faster). This clock frequency discrepancy can explain why AMD's initial announcement of the RX 7900 XTX indicated higher performance than we actually ended up getting.
This applies only to some gaming, but mostly it's about dual-issue processing, now sorted out on RDNA4. Also, some cards are better than others. In productivity workloads, such as Blender and LLM, and several games, my 7900XTX Nitro+ is in full swing, at 3.0-3.15 GHz. So, it's not about clocks that much.

Benchmark Scores It's a form of exhibitionism...;-), but fun in a way But showing off is triggering.............
At the moment here locally (The Netherlands) available:

  • (cheapest) Arc B580 = € 319.-
  • (cheapest) RX 7800 XT = € 489.-
  • (cheapest) RX 7900 XT = € 743.99
  • (cheapest) RX 7900 GRE = € 647.98
  • (cheapest) RX 7900 XTX = € 914.99
  • (cheapest) RX 9070 = not yet available
  • (cheapest) RX 9070 XT = not yet available
  • (cheapest) RTX 5070 = not yet available
  • (cheapest) RTX 5070 TI = € 1179.-
  • (cheapest) RTX 5080 = € 1503.-
  • (cheapest) RTX 5090 = € 3124.-
So depending on where it's ranking (performance wise) will be in the list above, I'll expect the price to be to blend in also. If not they might have some hard times with selling them and I pretty sure AMD is well aware of that.

Little footnote;
the prices above are all including local VAT and the cheapest available model of the specific types of card. If you have a preference for a specific brand and/or model it can easily increase to double that price :twitch:

I'll just wait untill there are plenty of reliable reviews and all the cards are on the table in a figure of speech ;).
I'm not a hardcore gamer (just casual on 3440 x1440 UWQHD) so this card should end up somewhere in the range that is interesting for my expectations.
However for me personally, price vs performance within a certain budget will probably be the decisive factor for an upgrade, no matter if it is camp red, green or blue.

There is one RX 9070 model available actually: https://www.amazon.nl/Sapphire-NITRO-RADEONTM-GAMING-DUBBELE/dp/B0DRPQPQQC
I ordered one yesterday night and it shipped out today.

Never mind, early adopters pretty much always pay extra to be one of the first proud owners of a new product ;).

Can't wait to see the (synthetic) benchmark results to get a general idea of it's potential and even more feedback of how it translates into everyday computing/gaming.

I hope it turns out to be a wunderful card and that you have a lot of fun with it. It will defenitly be a major upgrade from your RTX 3060 Ti.
