Yep, it's why i went back to Windows 10 after 3 weeks trying to fix the stutters. It was a fresh clean install of 24H2 with the Media Creation Tool even, so that couldn't be the problem.

Hopefully a future update fixes Windows 11, otherwise it's going to be a problem.

Windows 10 is butter smooth, so it's not an issue with my hardware.

I even upgraded from 5600x to 5800x3d because of Techpowerup recomendations in order to ''smooth'' these stutter - same problem ,no fix ...

Damn. At least you got a kick ass CPU out of the effort. The advice I gave above might be worth trying, that of an install with a Win11 23H2 ISO. Make sure you turn off updates so it doesn't bork it up.

I been told it's related the aggressive handling for back and foreground apps in Windows 11.

In my case after a little while the game get's pushed to the background (not visually) and locks to 59 FPS (also observed in RTSS). When i alt+tab it resets and works for a ltitle while again.

I had a big list of things i attempted, and the last few things i could try was to disable C-States and the likes, i wasn't interested in going that far and reinstalled Windows 10.

Hmm. The 23H2 ISO is hard to find. Fortunately, being a software pack rat, I actually had the ISO in my 'downloads' folder under Win11 .

True. And I know I'm in the minority. It's the UI. Windows 11 harkens back to the Windows 7(ish) style of things. Windows 10 always came off to me as lipstick on the very ugly pig of Windows 8. I will never go back to that crap.

I mean, I prefer an industrial look if I'm being honest. XP struck me as ugly (other than the classic theme, which was great).

What you said above regarding 11 can also be said of 10. If you ask me, W11 is to W10 as Vista is to XP (64-bit support notwithstanding), this time with AI crammed in. Is it bad? No, at least not from a technical perspective, but Microsoft's done enough with it I don't like that it probably won't be going on my daily driver after W10 EOS. We'll see if annoyance wins over laziness.

Agreed for 8.0, but I maintain that 8.1, while not up to par, was at least usable.

Not really. The same thing has to be done to Windows 10, and in nearly identical ways. Very little difference. So there's that. Even Windows 7 needs some debloating and roping in. This is true of all versions of Windows, so the need to do it to Windows 11 does not stand out in that respect.

Let's agree to disagree on that point. 8.1 was as much rotting poo as 8, just a bit more refined.

I used Windows Blinds for a year or so but then defaulted back to native themes with the theming dll mods.

EDIT: Custom theming is still possible with Windows 11 as the system file mods still work as intended.

I suppose NT Lite could be used to modify the iso as well?

To what end............I guess since "normal" people can't get LTSC / LTSC IoT, are there other options or tools that could get close to it?

I've tried this. While it works, it's real pain in the giblets to use as you generally need to set it up and use it in fresh Windows install environment as it always seems to use the current install it's running on as a template, which is both stupid and annoying. Not worth paying for and there is limited usefulness from the non-paid version. However, ATM it's the only way that I know of to remove EDGE from 24H2 without breaking Windows Explorer, but even THAT is like pulling teeth from an uncooperative rhinoceros. Not worth the effort.

I tried integrating fresh Feb 2025 updates and its buggy for both 23H2 and 24H2. Windows 11 is the buggiest OS since Vista. New updates make it worse than old/current builds.

Call me weird, but I liked Windows 8. Well, once you installed Start8 on it.

As for W11, I’m getting used to it, but I did notice a big issue where I was copying a few hundred GBs from a SATA SSD to the native NVME, and out of the gate, I’d get 300-400MBs copy rates, then it slows to a crawl. Turns out to be a common complaint with big file transfers. The funny part was, it was WAY faster to copy 130GBs of RAW photos to a SATA SSD over USB3 via my 2013 Mac Pro than it took to copy those files onto the NVME storage on my W11 machine, all while system responsiveness went to crap. That’s MS. How do video content creators live with that? Probably on a Mac, I guess.

Interesting. Are you sure those 24H2 images with Edge removed are with Windows Explorer unaffected? See post 5684 to see what I mean.

BTW, those ISOs seem to be without any of the auto-activation nonsense, thank you for not promoting piracy in this thread.

What is the real difference between Windows 11 and 10 or 8? Other than UI shenanigans (which all versions have had to some degree)?
This is effectively a simple evolution of Windows since Vista. Kind of the same as The previous line of NT/2000/XP (and DOS-based ones alongside the NT line).

I agree that 11 is mostly fine except for a few annoyances that need to be fixed/removed upon installation. But I was also happy with windows 10. What didn't you like about windows 10? I still use it on my laptop. Sorry if you already explained.... there's kind of a lot of pages in this thread lol.

It has a 7300u so not officially supported but I'm only one gen behind and I've heard of it running on ivy bridge and what not so I'm sure I could get it installed if I wanted to using rufus. Just haven't felt the need. Its basically just my bedroom tv. But I used it on my main pc for quite a few years too.... Windows 8 was the only one I really couldn't stand.
