The ambience felt a little familiar, then I realized Sarah Schachner worked on both games:
Wouldn't go so far as to say it makes my list of fave OSTs, but it certainly conveys the right mood. The MW2019 soundtrack is fit for purpose. She seems to be an excellent composer for that.

Can't get this out of my head today. The soundtrack for the original Paper Mario was perfect. I remember being 9, going to Shooting Star Summit, hearing this, and... wanting there to be more to do there so I could just stay. There are a few of them like that.
I'm pretty there are entire branches of vaporwave music out there that basically took this and made it a genre lol. Can't say I blame em.

One obscure game that has some great music is Pekka The Rooster 2. It's a Super Mario Bros derivative but actually a very enjoyable one.
What I noticed is that the individual music tracks match the atmosphere of each level perfectly. The beginner levels start off with really upbeat, fun music and then the difficult levels where you're guaranteed to die are very ominous.

I bought Command and Conquer Remastered this past weekend. Wow, the soundtrack is way better than I expected.
I missed out on this gem because I was too busy playing Age of Empires / Starcraft / Civilization II at the time. I figured I'd go back in time and see what all the fuss was about... C&C is simpler, but there are some cool parts to this game.
I used to think that Starcraft's soundtrack was really good. But this classic C&C soundtrack might be better. I'm sure the "remaster" is helping a lot: they had to re-cut the sound for this game because the original audio tracks were lost to time. It really does feel like the sound "hits" much stronger than the other remastered games I've played recently. SC / SC: Brood War seems to have a better story. C&C is very cheesy in its acting style and visual presentation. But this soundtrack really stands out IMO.
