My Seasonic manual states: The PSU is for integration into a computer and not intended for external or outdoor usage. You are supposed to build a computer with it. You are not expected to use it as test equipment, to move the cables a lot, to plug the cable in dozens of different GPUs, to plug and unplug the cables from the PSU many times, etc.

what? that just means you should use it for a PC and not to power your toaster. You absolutely can plug different gpus, test, etc...

No. It is the same as all other things. You put your consumer kitchen appliance into a restaurant kitchen, and it will be dead in a few days. You plug a weak plug in many GPUs and you will destroy it.

All products have their intended use. For example, PSU intended for testing would never come with modular cables and it would come with a test jig for measuring the condition of connectors.

what is testing? testing is running a game or a benchmark. What is the difference to what you do as a gamer?
is anyone testing how to power a tesla with a PSU?

You know, this has never before been a problem…

suddenly as nvidia launches some shit gpu all cables become single use plastic straws or something. Can’t make this shit up.

Well, we do now know why was this a problem for DerBauer, if the cable he used was faulty or marginal from the begining or not, and how used and abused it was.

There are always problems with new things and there are probably a lot of marginal cables around, that work only because the power draw of the cards with which they are used is not extreme. 5090 will reveal these weak cables once it is more available.

Perhaps all 5090 should ship with a clamp meter? :D
