Long story short I'm trying to find a 32GB DDR4 kit for my main rig to replace the RAM that I have as my current RAM is performing absolutely horrible and causes system crashes if not set to XMP. Weirdly if I test the RAM there is no errors what so ever but my gaming performance lows is horrid seeing dips as low as 30 FPS from 120 FPS. I tested everything and the only thing I can point to is RAM being the issue.

My setup:
Ryzen 7 5800X
ASRock B550 Pro4

Get 3600 to run Infinity Fabric at a 1:1 ratio. I wouldn't buy sticks that can't at least guarantee 3600 with that CPU to be honest.

Hi,
I'd likely just go 3200c16 for least cost. c18 is just not good to be nice.

The Tridents are older models, without RGB, but they're still a sharp catch (literally). I dig the design and have had forms of them for many years (still got some after selling). Those are obviously not the infamous B-Die Trident-Z, but they're still nice. The Patriots are nice as well, I got some B-Die of that design here waiting for the Z690...

Hi,
From your current memory 3600c18 should give you a hint why you should not get more c18 it's just not any good unless we're talking about 4000

Kind of why 3200c16 is sort of blah to

Yeah I was looking at them from a design perspective and price. Obviously you're getting cheaper Hynix bins or such with those. I'd say it's more of being bad and at CL18 with the OLoY kit. Think timings being all over the place and RAM not being able to do specified speeds. My Neo Forza for example were claimed CJR dies, but they're probably not / absolutely horrible for timing adjustment. Hence why I just plugged them to my mom's PC. :)

Not exactly low cost but, these rock:

They're no longer produced, but you can carry them towards Z690 and get good results in the future. I recall clocking mine towards 4500, but CPU was limiting... like there was more to be had.
Don't ever plan to switch to intel

What happens if you downclock the memory, or run at XMP?
If i downclock system runs but 1% lows is still really bad same as XMP

If i set manually to stocks clocks it crashes

Hi,
Think you'll have better luck with the 3600c16 kit.

Even though it's not b-die

Games love low latency and 3200cl18 just doesn't cut it. As others, I'd recommend getting a set of 3600cl16 - at minimum - and tweaking the timings. Crucial Ballistix are great value and almost guaranteed to run on any Ryzen config.

I built a b550 Steel Legend setup with 5800 oem, crucial ballistix Red 3600 32GB gaming (got the ram and mobo at micro center) XMP runs perfect

Good part is no additional heat that is associated with RGB (none to deal with on the ram)

Oloy 32GB DDR4 (2x16GB) 3200MHz CL18
As far as "low cost" goes, Patriot Viper Steel kits are some of the best in the business.
I happen to have a post just about the specific quirkiness of those: https://www.overclock.net/threads/a...0-besides-xmp-profiles.1798106/#post-28977880
If you need-need 32 GB, then the 4400 kit is very good at running in 4x8 - otherwise the 4000 16-16-16 kit is piss-easy to get 3800 1T GDM Off (best-performing AM4 setup) to behave on.

The issue on AM4 is that "performance stability" has a heavy tie-in with dialing in SOC/IOD/CCD voltage correctly, which is a very boring process featuring double-digit restarts.
Supposedly, Y-Cruncher for 2.5 Billion Digits is a good metric for dialing in the "optimal" set of three voltages for a given FCLK.
lots_of_pi.png

As the Pi calculation scales with both memory timing efficiency (how well they all perform together), fabric stability, and its results are also quite consistent from run-to-run.
to make it a little more consistent by using a high CPU priority, you can run it with a .bat file as so:
Code:
@echo off
cd /d %~dp0
y-cruncher skip-warnings priority:3 bench 2.5b

It's highly unlikely that your board/CPU will require the same set of voltages, but here's what my 5800x liked on the b550 Unify-X;
1075.png
(which is somewhat different than what it liked on the x570 Phantom ITX, but at least this board consistently performs with these voltages instead of requiring different voltages on different power-ups)

Reply to your 1st post as Ive not gone trough the whole threat so my semi drunk two cents be of any use: I would suspect the performance hit coming from software instal( conflicting monitoring software) , a BIOS update , or a BIOS setting the skewed the POST initialization setup.

Some other point: your RAM is either good ,[non abused but coupled very low quality control (low balling it, Corsair Vengeance)]; .

I suspect the RAM is fine; what did you use to test it?

I would test the pair and then swap then around and test again, that way if there is a part that can't be tested (because the program resides there) one covers that also.

I tend to purchase secondhand RAM with lifetime warrantee off ebay and then test the hell out of it; if it fails any tests I can fall back on the seller or the lifetime warrantee. This approach saves money but does mean quite a lot of work as the tests can take time and the RAM may need replacing.

I never updated specs in that. The RAM I have was once Overclocked at 3600MHz but it didn’t run properly so I went back to stock

the actual kit is Oloy OWL 32GB(2x16GB) 3200MHz but I was wrong CAS is actually 16-20-20-38

Check this out on @Newegg: OLOy 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Desktop Memory Model ND4U1632161DJ0DA

It’s extremely low quality. Thaiphoon can’t even determine what Micron chips are being used

every memory test I could run plus different games.

I’ve tested in different slots and as single sticks.

I bought the RAM new from Newegg I believe about a year ago.

Hi,
Think you should go with the neo
3200c16 or 3600c16 which ever the budget allows

Might not even be micron chips, taiphoon is pretty outdated as well

Hi,
The timings on the set you linked to are not typical c16 timings at all
Typical hynix & micron is 16-18-18-38
Those you linked to are 16-20-20-38 which is really weird.

Look at the tag on the sticks to verify timings.

Without pull them what other method works for determining ICs

Idk if hwinfo64 or cpu-z can read them.

I've always been on the err when a new product out of no where pops up, oloy being just that...
