Low Cost Ram Replacement Suggestions

It's probably the RAM, I've gone through these kind of sticks in past like I mentioned earlier... they're mostly a headache. Pretty low bin stuff. Any of the aforementioned sticks in this thread would likely be a significantly better shot - that should tell something tbh.

The Ballistix I suggested can obviously roll back towards 3800 and at a possible 1800 IF, perform well. However the OP also obviously don't need to spend that much. There have been quite some suggestions in this thread, take a 3600 of the liking.

Yeah I mean why not try. Running slightly slower is much cheaper than getting a new set. However, if XMP once worked, and you have to tinker like that to get them right, you will be here again doing this when they wear more.

Most don't even check just set and game on which he has said performance was never there.

I was just seeing if either would post
Guessing the 3200 and it's default xmp timings failed to post
So increasing the cas might going from c16 to c18 timings might never know till he tries

At this point only another cmos clear would be needed and might do cmos clear first then try c18 typical primaries.

Cant argue any of that. My logic is more simple. If XMP is failing to run, its more the RAM IMHO.
Could be the BIOS, but along with funky things going on, Im not certain a CMOS clear would help if that last update was corrupted.

So I swapped to different slots on the board

Powered on and PC shut off 3 times than finally powered back on and BIOs reset to stock with RAM at 2666

I set it back to 3200 with new timings of 18-22-22-22-42 and saved. PC now booted and this time clocks and timings are right.

Going to test a few games

If not increase dimm voltage to 1.4v will post.

Sadly 18-22-22-22-42 might be the limit but you might try increasing to 3600 with these just increase dimm voltage a bit if no post.

Nope just tried the stock

16-20-20-20 with 1.4V and it failed to post

it booted at 18-22-22-22 but after loading 1 game PC crashed

I’m in those slots now

and so far I can get 3000 22-21-21-48 and it doesn’t crash but performance still sucks hard

Grab some cheap but not sucky 3600's, and save the OLoY's for a rainy day I'd say. There isn't much point in those kind of sticks with that kind of PC, to look at things from one way. Would also recommend sticking on 2 / 4 slots since this is a Zen setup.

With that arrangement it would be at c22 so I wouldn't be surprised

I would guess 1 & 3 were single rank board recommended but looking at the manual 2 & 4 could also be used but for dual rank mem you've already tried these slots

At some point the os could be corrupted as well.

A corrupt OS wouldn't cause system to not post as it doesn't even make it to the OS boot portion

Crucial ballistix 3600, they have great compability on Ryzen, also quite tweakable if you want to. If you want to spend a bit more and tune more Patriot Viper 4400cl19, they often cost little aswell and will run fine at 3800cl16 1.4V.

Thats whats being used in the 5800 build, runs at 3600 xmo.

Sounds like timings need loosening or vdimm upped. Or those oloys are overrated
