New MSI GTX 1060 6GB Getting Lousy Fire Strike Score

aherm... 14k is a 1070 generally

this is a 970 level ;) 980 is 12k and indeed a 1060 is rather in between with a 10k average, but you confirm the driver issue (although that score is in the norm of other 970 on the 3dmark website, but for your score it's probably a run variance since 1060 and not 970)



never said the opposite :) nvidia drivers are crap ... i know that since i had my 980 back (~ 2yrs iirc)

also yep 1060 in between 970 and 980 as you can see in my quoted post.

tho as i said ... Firestrike should not be used to see "does my card do fine" since most high score in the GPU category you would seek, would not be stock, unless there is a filter per mhz Core/vRAM that would enable you to see differences between similar clocked card, that's why i wrote to Sasqui to downgrade the driver before even thinking "my gpu is bad i need to RMA" when it's likely behaving correctly but has drivers issues.

my driver are stable in any games i play, performances are top notch, but firestrike crash in the middle of the demo ... is there an issue with my 1070? likely not ... :laugh:

13-14K is GTX 980 / GTX 1060 for GRAPHICS. This score indicates if there is something wrong. It should also not vary at all too much even with different CPU's. I mean I use something much slower yet this score is spot on.

Makes sense, my 1070 has a 21.169 graphics score OC'd.

if only Firestrike crash ... and my games are stable i don't mainly care ... tho i will try stock later maybe.
 
mmhhh not even 12k, 7k and 9k seems like a normal run variance (well 9k anyway)
VALID RESULT
SCORE 10 561 with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060-6GB(1x) and Intel Core i5-6500
SCORE 12 059 with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980(1x) and Intel Core i5-6600K
SCORE 9 271 with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970(1x) and Intel Core i5-4590 Processor

Since all cards (TWO different 290x's), a 1070 and the 1060 were run in the EXACT same system, all other variables aren't variables. The two 290x's were within <1% of eachother and the 1070 performed as expected, on multiple runs, only varied by <1%. The 1060 on the other hand... is consistently shitty :mad:

I will run it in the "clean" box, the 3570k system in my specs, and see where it lands.

there is no other conclusion that GTX 1060 that you have is faulty (call it as you wish: faulty, broken, half-dead...)

You should try that graphics card in another pc , but i doubt that anything will change
also, try running any other test beside firestrike

Yea, my graphics score is 7,783, way far below what it should be, your GTX 660 is getting 6,203! Coupled with the card power draw in GPUz, it's pointing at a bad card. But might as well try in the other rig.

You're right, that Graphics score is way low. I just ran a GTX 980 system, and overall score 11,410, with the Graphics score being 13, 970. Close to being double, when the cards should score nearly the same. I think you might need to trade it in. Are other benchmarks backing up this trend?

Not yet. My lawn has turned into a meadow, so I probably won't get to more fuckstration with the card till later this week.

The TDP being at 495% even in idle either means a driver problem, or bad card. Nothing to do with Fire Strike.

Who has experience with a Newegg RMA? I've heard they suck lately :banghead:

In the case of this card, they have a replacement only policy. And the form to fill out about why the card is defective, yadda yadda. If they test the card, it'll appear fine. Albeit a little choppy in firestrike, no artifacts. They don't allow an image upload from what I saw on the return request page.

newegg does not test cards nobody tests cards they do quick visual inspection thats it

the vga replacement only has been a thing for awhile because miners where buying cards running them for 25 days and then returning them

btw, that pic was from a GTX1050, not like a Rx580 or any mining GPU.
