"CEO Jen Hsun says that the first products will be "layered on top" of the current-generation "Ampere" products, so they don't cannibalize the sales of current-generation products."

Bah hah hah ahaha... f-you Jensen. Go sell your overpriced mountains of Ampere to your favorite customer, the miners. If you want anyone to buy Ada, you better not price it higher than Ampere launch.
wait...........wasn't the ampere launch 3x over msrp?

Speaking just for Nvidia, the cards are all still very expensive at least in the EU, especially considering they are all end of live products and supposedly there is a lot of stock and not many buyers.
I don't get nothing that is happening but i would not buy a new 3000 series card, and this Nvidia approach to pricing does not inspire confidence to me at least for the pricing of the 4000 series.

The only normal response by gamers to Nvidia's plans to trying to continue selling Ampere for close to MSRP even though new generation should bring big price / performance increase is to boycott both of the lines, old and expensive Ampere and new and more expensive Lovelace. Let them sit on a very expensive stockpile and wriggle their hands.

The only normal response by Nvidia to such market behaviour is even greater disrespect to gamers and a desire to change the whole buyer demographic, perhaps to crypto miners, if possible.

So no more gamer protection, not even half arsed. No more drivers that kind of prevent mining, but in reallity they themselves post a solution to circumvent that. No more LHR, "lower hashrate" cards with limitations that could be bypassed anyway...

And Data solutions is overtaking Gaming anywas, so so long, suckers...

If people don't buy their products they will be forced to lower their prices at some point but something tells me they can take huge losses in the gaming market for at least 1 year before thinking about lowering their ultra greedy prices.
I think that's happened a bit. I know a lot of people who were on 10x0 cards who skipped 20x0 cards and couldn't get a 30x0 cards. During that time for creative work they moved on to mac studios and bought consoles. I don't think they are coming back.

Currently have a 3060ti...really wanting to upgrade to a 4070. Hopefully by the time they release they will be atleast somewhere near MSRP. If not may just pick up AMDs comparable 7000 series card. Assuming they're not crazy overpriced as well.

I just snagged a 3080ti a couple months ago (still over MSRP but less than it had been) and so I'm satisfied for awhile (had upgraded from a 2080ti). I'll likely wait until near the end of the 4000 series cycle (2 years from now, give or take) and grab a 4080ti or 4090.

I really, really, hope they don't just pile the 4080 and 4090 on above the 3090 and 3090ti and make them exorbitantly priced. I would rather see them put the 4090 above 3090ti, sure, but put the 4080 below 3090, etc. I doubt that will happen, however.

Imo, the only way they will move 3090/3090tis after ada releases is to drop prices significantly, like 3-400 below their current pricing. They aren't dealing with internet crippled johnny of 5 or 10 years ago. People are savvy af now when it comes to clamping down on the best hardware deals to buy. Ngreedia knows this and will draw out ADAs release accordingly. Otherwise, their AIBs get it right in the pooper. They are stuck between a rock and a hard place with no easy out to be seen.

I think the real glut of Amperes lies in the 3080 and 3070. That why the 4080 and 4070 won't get released until later in the year and there's a possibility that they won't get released until Q1 2023.

They always stall the 4070 release. Stalling the 4080 will only make good business sense. The problem they are faced with is there are fewer and fewer people that will/are going to be willing to buy a 1k+ gpu that's going to be crushed when ada releases. It was a hard sell before ada, after it releases, they will be lucky to sell any 3090s at their current pricing. They will have to sweeten the pot bigtime. I have no idea how but they will have to do something to spur sales before ada and rdna3 release.

Well, there's always "this is as cheap as it will get, the next generation must be priced much higher because new expensive fabrication / supply chain disruptions / understaffed factories." And the price hike with added inflation rise could be unprecedented.

And then RTX 3070 for 570 EUR and RTX 3080 for 800 EUR will suddenly sound attractive, even though we should be able to buy them at that price in 2020. Remember, 800 EUR in 2023 will be a lot less than 800 EUR in 2020 (although for most of us it represents exactly the same chunk of income).

Its almost time to buy a GPU guys. I'm still on 1080ti and it sucks balls having to keep waiting thanks to Ngreedia and bum AMD to get me something that competes with my own card for the same price I paid for it.

Ebay now has $600-800 RTX 3080's and lower for 3070ti's.

I need to hold out to just build a new PC and get up to speed with new tech at the right price when the economy is down and I still have the cash that didnt purchase $1000 gpus.
