I think its pretty well matched with the crossfire setups if you check mine and wilhelms results we dont really have much of a oc on the cpu compared to them running crossfire and we are both at stock speeds on the graphics cards too while the crossfire users are overclocking i reckon with a good cpu oc and graphics oc we could match the crossfires easy.

For some reason 3dmark thinks my cpu is at 3.6ghz?? and it aint its at 3.2ghz 400x8 ?

It quick autodetects the frequency... by using the FSB x Max multi.. it used to think my e4500 was running at 4.5Ghz

It was this forum (techpowerup) and this benchmark the convinced me I needed a new PC. Finally got it running, and here are my results.

HD 3850 mildly overclocked. All other settings stock. Much better than my initial 1095 score with my old PC!

well i think cpu overclock has more of a impact on 3dmark than actual graphics card oc i will give it another shot with the card overclocked but even though i could get 3.6ghz i dont like the temp reading there spiking at 72c and i like to keep my cpu at 60c full load i really need to invest in some water cooling.

2. I'm not so sure about that. My 3DMark06 score (not posted yet on the front page of this thread, but it's 10320) comes right between Two guys with o'clocked processors - my proc is stock . However my overclocked GPU specs are right in the middle.

*3* ghost101 - E6300 @ 3.6ghz 3850 @ 843 Core 999 Mem 3dmark 11375
*3.5* nastyhabits - E6750 @ 2.66ghz 3850 @ 729 Core 855 Mem 3dmark 10320
*4* mitchy24 - E6750 @ 3.6ghz 3850 @ 715 Core 873 Mem 3dmark 10249

Just some food for thought from a overclock newbie.

the Overclock of a processor has a huge effect on 3dmark, the problem is that it doenst directly represent the graphical power of your machine. Thats why I look at 3dmark06 as more of a system test. But I think you guys should push the graphics and the proc as far as you can! Then you can move up in those results.

It made the difference of over 1000 on my system. Be sure to note that I have a quad though, that makes a huge difference

Thanks for the info. I'm still waiting for my proc cooler to arrive. I don't want do anything with the stock cooler.

Do you think pushing the memory will have much effect? While I've been a computer geek for years, I'm noob when it comes to overclocking. Sure is fun though.

That I havent seen much results on, I have moved memory timings and speeds while testing but it never made a difference of more than 50, so I credit that the differnces that take place everytime

i know your all going to call me a fanboi n stuff but hey...have you guys started this thread to hide you scores away from the offical 3dmark06 scores or do you lot post over there too?

i only ask as i can beat you all in this with dual core and come 3rd against the quads and 5th against the xfire setups, and i only have a single card and a 4300.

if you read the scores we are all in the other 3dmark posts too. And I know that you will beat most if not all in here, but that wasnt the point of this thread, its for 3800 series cards.
