It was this test I was most anxious about running with my new config. Just hammering every single thread for 10 minutes sounds so mean to the cpu. Plus I was afraid it might shatter my belief that I didn't lose that much performance with the recent changes.

But anywho here's what it looks like with the new limits, which have the goal of reducing transients/reducing risk of degradation/delaying its inevitability, while not going overboard like I did the first time.

Ah I remember what the 1260 was now, I was trying to emulate the 12900k. Since they weren't dying.... yeah you could say I got swept up in the panic.

Impressed by the 7800x3d multicore score. I mean, you pretty much give up extra cores and high frequency for that cache, and still your multicore is in the same ballpark as my 14700k, where you'd think its design would have the biggest advantage... Meanwhile you're getting the absolute best gaming performance. And I'm getting... the what 3rd - 5th best, depending on the game. Wait, now there's the 9950x, I wonder how that works in there.

Either way, damn 2022 me... buying lga1700. Well at least it comes with the anxiety pack. Never know if today is the last day your cpu will work, it really keeps you alert, on your toes and ready to conquer to the day!

No jk I'm just drunk don't listen to me. So thats about average for the 7800x3d isn't it? Maybe a bit higher? There's not much tuning involved when it comes to the 7800x3d, right? So it comes down to what, just cooling capacity? AM5 and x3d is pretty alien to me.

I just clocked my 13700K to 5.1 and got a score of 756 multi core, I reset my bios to run at 3.4 stock and got a score of 1110.

I was being a bit stingy with 1.115 volts. No blue screens, no WHEA errors, no throttling though.

If you want it to dip v-core on a load but keep a lot of that performance, go to digi-vrm tab and select CPU LLC lvl 1. It'll droop and should be able to keep it cool.

Think I found a slightly better configuration that still doesn't break any of intel's rules and while keeping my vcore always under 1.4 ( or it could just be margin or error...). Actually I broke one intel rule, I brought my memory back up from 5600 to 6000. I mean... it can't be stressing the imc that much, right? There's people running over 8000! (Also still no offsets available without unselecting intel profile and downgrading ucode+turning CEP off, so yeah... I'm not doing that). I still want safety>performance. And CPU package temp max was 86.

and... only 70 points lower than breaking every rule in the book. Not so bad, I suppose? About average for the cpu, yet with pretty strict limits on it, and on a b board.

My humble non-gaming rig includes a locked i9-13900F, RTX 4070 Super, 128 GB ddr5 5200 mt/s, Samsung 990 pro system drive, Thermalright Frozen Notte liquid cooler, ROG Strix Z690-E mobo (bios set to Intel default settings, 0x129 microcode patch applied). Nice, cool, quiet Photoshop workhorse that looks like a gaming rig with its snazzy Phanteks G500A case around it

Yeah! There ya go. 3100Mmhz IO 3100mhz mem 4800 + a 25 to hit that 1300 score. Very nicely done indeed.

Whatcha using for cooling??
Thank you, custom water loop :)

This scores are after this:

Whats going on with your memory channels? Since its ddr5 and you have two dimms, shouldnt it be 4x32? Or am I missing something?
It's 2x32GB I've never used 4x32GB.

So you only have one dimm? Each ddr5 dimm is 2x32 bit channels so two dimms should be 4x32. DDR4 was one 64 bit channel. So if ddr5 was only one 32 bit channel, that would be quite the downgrade.

See here's my two dimms, four channels

This is the Windows install from my previous build with the 7900x, when I reinstall with a clean 24H2 I can take a look to see if there is a difference. I just need the time and desire to do it :D
