PowerColor has prepared its highest-end Radeon RX 9070 XT GPU in the "Red Devil" family. In a post on the social media platform X, PowerColor shared the below picture with the following words: "Every edge shines like a gem. Every second burns like fire. If power was in your hands, how would you use it?" The picture shows an interesting design with a black shroud holding a red acrylic core, which follows the design philosophy of Red Devil cards. On the backplate, PowerColor has embedded a Red Devil sign with a meshed plate on top of it to show the card branding. Suppose the previous generations of Red Devil cards are for reference. In that case, we assume that the Radeon RX 9070 XT Red Devil will deliver top-tier specifications and component selection for overclocking, meaning that this card will be one of the highest-end RDNA 4 designs that we will see. Of course, surprises are welcome, and we must wait for the CES launch to see more.

It looks big and heavy. Being on micro-ATX, I'm much more interested in more compact versions, like a Sapphire Pulse, or the made-by-AMD version. I hope they'll be a tad thinner.

Oh interesting, I didn't think the 9070 would qualify for a "Red Devil" level card, but maybe it has more grunt than initially thought.

Either way, good news, PowerColor make great cards. I highly recommend them based on my previous 6950XT and my current 7900XTX.

Everything qualifies as a Red Devil if you slap an oversized cooler on it with red accents and put it into a red box. It's the magic of marketing. ;)

if they know people will be happy to give them a premium, even if there is no need for this version of the card, they will absolutely do it. No company wants to leave money in the table.
It's actually a trend to release over engineered gpus in all classes.

Definitely. Everybody is aiming for the biggest and baddest monster of a card. Manufacturers would be stupid not to cater. And here I am, hoping for a solid, dual-slot little feather that will fit into my m-ATX case.

Curious how much OC can bring these cards closer to 4080. Lets imagine this was a super fun overclockable card, like the old days :D would be cool :D

Seems like will perform like cards from 2 years ago and be very inferior to 7900xt, which is already discounted to 600 or so.

Only thing that probably can save this launch, is if the cards are much cheaper...

Design probably gets obsoleted by a single/dual slot block.
I'm more interested in seeing that or Reaper/Hellhound than this thing.
Red Devil is a massive red flag for my workstation these days.

The Hellhound almost falls in your taste then. Sure, it's illuminated (backplate logo is lit as well) but it ain't RGB, however its shroud is pretty simple.

Below the Hellhound currently would be the Fighter, but its higher model is the 7900GRE. Rumours are that PowerColor will discontinue the Fighter and introduce a Reaper line for RDNA4, but I'm unsure if it fits below or above the Hellhound.

that wasn't so much of a problem if that stupid crap weren't driving prices up for everybody. This is not the right crowd for it, but in another community almost everybody complains about the same, no one can buy a good quality case without going insane on glasses and crap and off course we pay for it, this is just an example.

It's so boring when current gen are not losing its value especially nvidia. If RX 9070 XT will cost 600$ and will have the same raster as RX 7900 XT than it's just a pointless launch (prices are growing faster than performance)

5080 tie 4090 in performance and will be priced at around $1300/1400, with a maximum +50% performance gain from the 9070xt.
Why would AMD price its card less than $650/700?

Yet to be known. Could as well be about three times better at professional workloads. That is if I'm being optimistic about this AMD GPU. Also rumours about RT performance are to be checked. You never know how heavily AMD will underdeliver next time. I don't think it'll be better than 4070S, or Ti in RT.

At 64 CUs @ 3ish GHz it'll barely reach the slowest 7900 XT on the market at pure raster. Which is totally not remarkable enough for it to cost over 550. If the 64 CU rumour is false then I don't even know.

If I were in the market for a 9070 XT I'd buy this Red Devil thing however. Don't mind the looks (not a huge fan of obese GPUs but what can we do) and I know these have some excellent thermals. Overclocking is dead so whatever.

To me personally, 7900 XT performance is fine, so if I get that, with MUCH better idle / video playback efficiency, and MAYBE a tad more RT for 550, it'll be a winner.

And I'm saving till I'm rich enough to have at least a 4090 in my system. Jump to anything slower won't satisfy me.

If RX 9070 XT can match at least RX 7900 XTX than maybe yes otherwise who will buy it ? Smaller cheaper die also GDDR6 it only makes sense. nvidia already owns more than 90% of gpu market share.
