childish?
I literally have Pikachu printed on my Adidas Bravado shoes so this is definitely not an issue to me.

Also, if we're being THAT arsing about stuff I'd wager it's not irritating, nor is it childish at all. This is just one of the themes popular amongst the target audience, id est gamers. Doncha remember xXx_DemonLord_xXx that beat you 5 to 1 in that game?
'least it's implemented soundly enough for that to be actual designs and not optical migraines. My eyes don't hurt staring at those.

Minimalist design is what XFX are doing. PowerColor won't go bankrupt if one Chrispy buys'imself a GPU from XFX.

Blessed are the believers :D

The Powercolor mamooth cooler doesn't convince you that it is not only 220W ?

The custom Radeon RX 9070 XT cards are expected to reach even higher frequencies than 3.1 GHz and can consume over 300W.
AMD's Radeon RX 9070 XT GPU Rumored To Come With Great Overclocking Capabilities with TBP Reaching as High as 330W

The 7900xt also has great overclocking, can do 29k on Timespy GPU with a bit of tweaking, compared to 23k in the leak for the 9070... Can be had for £620 or so, and been as low as £599 in the last couple of weeks. 7800xt will do about 22k on Timespy GPU and is about £460 at the moment.

Only way the 9070 can make sense is if it's priced between £500-550 max.

The RX 9070XT 330w is equal to the RTX 4080 320w?
330 W is probably the Red Devil, not the vanilla 9070 XT. You're asking a question that no one knows the answer to until reviews are out.

I agree. Personally, I'm looking forward to the vanilla, made-by-AMD 9070 XT.

Except that's not a pretty woman, but a rather grumpy-looking one. I don't like dreadlocks, either. It makes one's hair look like poo (literally). Taste is kind of a subjective thing, eh? :D

Eh, come on, Origin can't charge real money for an AMD gpu system. Nvidia command the actual dough.

Be interesting to see what SI's offer 9070XT/9800X3D setups and who does the biggest mark up.

I also prefer a functional, minimalist look. Components just need to do their job well and run cool and quiet. All the visually exciting stuff belongs on the monitor screen.

Not to mention, "visually exciting" is a subjective term, too.

For example, I find this a lot more visually exciting:

Edit: That ASUS box is just sensory overload for me (I know because I had one).

Some people are nitpicking the name and it's childish. It's for marketing like OC Formula, Taichi, Hellhound, Red Dragon, STRIX, Pulse.

Anyways when a card has good cooling, that's what matters.

Remember people both nvidia and amd used blowers and everyone complained about those, maybe they both should go back to using them?

We don't yet know how fast or slow the VRAM will be on this RDNA4 card. The main reason the 7900 GRE sucks is its painfully slow VRAM. Can be overclocked, sure, but not every GRE has good VRAM chips.
Current data points to 19,5Gbps so defenetly faster than 18Gbps used on GRE.
However that's still a bit slower than 20Gbps used on XTX.
Obviously G6 cant match G6X speeds despite lofty promises by Samsung about 24Gbps G6W that never materialized.
Radeon RX 6800 XT (released more than four 4 ! years ago), RX 7800 XT, RX 7900 GRE and the newly launched RX 9700 XT are all in the same performance ballpark.
The same performance ballpark means that it doesn't matter which one of these you would prefer - they are all the same !
It seems that AMD hasn't improved the efficiency in the slightest, either !

15% is an average generational uplift these days. Not the "same performance ballpark" like you claim.
I already proved either in this thread or some other thread here that getting even 40% today is very rare.
<10% Bad.
10-20% Average.
20%> Good.

That's the reality we live in.

Doesn't compute.

At the same die size, roughly the same launch price and at almost the same wattage, 7800 XT outclasses 6700 XT by about 50 percent. The same can be said about 6900 XT VS 7900 XTX.
Ada provides up to double the performance per watt compared to Ampere. Sure, prices are horrible but that's because competition doesn't exist.

And given AMD GPUs are about 30% too weak to REALLY impact the market I'm fairly certain we need at least another +50% for RDNA4 to make a difference considering RTX 5000 series are to be about 10% better than Ada at the very least. Meaningless generation otherwise. Just a filler episode.

7800XT actually increased the die size, TDP and price vs 6700XT.
7900XTX also increased in effective die size and TDP compared to 6900XT while maintaining the same price.
Both of these also moved from 7nm to 5nm/6nm that helped.

But these examples do not disprove my assertion that 40% or greater is rare and 15% is more like average.
Especially as we're unlikely to see such big node jumps in the future.
Cards releasing this year move from 5nm (or 6nm) to 4nm and in the future there is 3nm and 2nm but performance advantage from switching nodes is getting smaller and smaller.
Ada provides up to double the performance per watt compared to Ampere.
That is the effect of moving from what was essentially a 10nm class Samsung node to a much better 5nm TSMC node. It's also the reason why 4090 was 41% faster than 3090Ti despite using a slightly smaller die at the same TDP.

I was just gonna say...

Considering that RDNA 3 was supposed to be a big leap with the chiplet design (which it kinda was with the 7800 and 7900 series, not so much on the 7600), and RDNA 5 is scrapped in favour of UDNA, while RDNA 4 moves back to a monolithic mid-range chip, I think it's fair to assume that RDNA 4 is a filler episode. The Rocket Lake of GPUs, kind of (I still love my Rocket Lake HTPC, but that's besides the point).

7800XT actually increased the die size, TDP and price vs 6700XT.
By a whopping $20 while offering +50% performance and +4 GB VRAM.

7900XTX also increased in effective die size and TDP compared to 6900XT while maintaining the same price.
Both of these also moved from 7nm to 5nm/6nm that helped.
What does die size matter if the price is the same while performance increases?

powercolor, can you please release this gpu with a water block? :) "liquid devil version"
They would only make that for a GPU that competes with top tier Nvidia - otherwise it would not make sense.

Boys, remember the days when ATI/Radeon still knew how to compete and make great GPUs... It all went downhill when AMD aquired ATI
The king ATI Radeon 9700 Pro followed by the last push of old ATI dev team inside AMD now Radeon HD 5870 & Radeon HD 7970, then the team dissolved inside AMD and It's been a shitshow since then:banghead:
