Hi, i try to build a new pc only for gaming and why not a little bit of streaming (1400-1500€ ), Problem is i don't know nothing about this.

In search for some gpu, i find the 6950xt attractive but the card seems huge and power hungry. In the other hand some friends advice me to pick the 6700 instead and buy a real good cpu with it (ryzen7 78003d)
Like i said it's only for gaming (1440p mostly 4k if possible). So do you think 6950 xt is good and i should buy that with a cpu that fit in my budget? or buy the 6700 xt less expensive and use the saved money to buy the super good cpu?

Thx.

6700XT will easily handle pretty much anything at 1440p coming from former owner and current owner of a 6950XT

6950xt is not quite enough if you crank all settings to high in 4k , 6750xt or 6800xt is a good choice in 2k

Ah i see, can you tell me what cpu you run with the 6950xt ?
A 5800X3D but I ran the 6700XT mostly on a 5600X there was some overlap.

I only decided to upgrade again from the 6700XT because I moved from 1440p to 3440x1440 so I basically lost all the performance I had gained from upgrading from a 5700XT. I really only wanted a 6800XT Nitro but a buddy found the Red Devil 6850XT for like $50 more so I couldn’t refuse.

Since I have an old Freesync monitor that does 3440x1440 75Hz, I'd figured my spare 3900X and RX 6900 XT (was from my main rig) would more than suffice, so I'd gotten an X570S mobo and 32GB RAM (only needed to buy these two, and yes, a CPU cooler in the TR PA 120 SE.....I had everything else). For 1440P UWD gaming, the 3900X and RX 6900 XT combo does a pretty good job, I can basically run DSR and Calisto Protocol maxed out and they still ran at pretty playable framerate.

Edit - My honest opinion is, IF the RX 6950XT is within budget, why not? Or, if OP can wait, then wait for the RX 7800 XT and see what it brings to the table....but, as someone had pointed out, the RX 6800 is a good compromise between the RX 6700 XT and RX 6950 XT, and should be able to hold its own at 1440P gaming.

In my opinion you should get the 6800xt or the RTX 4070 (non-Ti), depending on the games you would be playing, check reviews here and then decide. Not sure about streaming and which would be better here. If emulation is not one of your priorities, even a 5800x3d (esp. rpcs3) would do, if its available at a cheap price compared to newer 7000 series cpus or Intel equivalent. A stated budget would have been great for recommending parts. 6800xt is power hungry you would need a good psu, say something like an XPG core reactor 850w on the other hand RTX 4070 can do with even a good 650W, an XPG Pylon 750w would be more than enough and also cheap. If only single player AAA games are your poison than @ 1440p and esp 4K and 144hz these graphics cards might not be enough, you might have to use dlss/fsr or lower settings a bit.

It depends on your needs. I have a 6750 XT, but with my 1080p 60 Hz monitor, even this is overkill. If you play at 4K, you might not even find the 6950 XT enough in some situations.

To OP: 6800 XT. 6700s are weak at high resolutions, and 6950 XT is very expensive (at least where I live it is, standing whopping 30 percent more expensive than 3090 lol).

You will still be capable of fitting a great CPU considering your budget and your graphics accelerator won't suffer from it being in the active phase of obsoletion.
what cpu you run with the 6950xt
i7-11700/Ryzen 5800X and higher is more than enough, especially if you run 3440x1440 and higher resolutions. Basically, 1080p gamers want a mediocre GPU (a-lá RTX 3070/RX 6800) and a top-notch CPU. 1440p gamers want a really capable GPU (aka RX 69x0 XT/RTX 3080 Ti) and 4K gamers want the best GPU possible (7900 XTX/4090), yet they will be totally fine with a CPU of i5-11400 range (if they don't do anything CPU-heavy on their PCs of course).

Appropriate for some, not enough for others, overkill for me. Heck, even a 6500 XT is enough for most of the games I play.
IMO it's either fast enough or not, the former case being an appropriate GPU and the latter being an inappropriate one. Overkill? If you don't use the whole nuclear plant for running Minecraft RT-less at 480p it's fine.

Move to 3440x1440 ultrawide. Bonus points for having the two-screens in one-without-bezel thing then.
Its fabulous and in due time you will find you're barely using the 'additional 4K height' because that's really the only major difference. And some 400 pixels in width. In any case, this resolution can display two full height windows side by side, and in a game like Diablo 4, you will have your skillbar/health/mana UI centered with the minimap moved to the edges so your center view is fully focused, its glorious.

Ultrawide support in most games is perfect and in the worst case you play at 1440p.
And performance wise, you're right in between 4K and 1440p resolutions, making it very comfortable to drive. In the worst case scenario, you drop to 2560x1080 and you're effectively below 1440p requirements.

Many people want to chase maximum pixel density... I would suggest you find the optimal pixel density for your setting/room and view distance. 4K is placing the bar very high for all future GPU upgrades, and it barely pays off. More certainly isn't always better.

Ultrawide support in most games is perfect
Yeah, well, whilst it's not untrue, the Mustdie itself looks awful on such monitors given you use 100% scale factor and ride your front side bus from 2 Roman salutes (like a reasonable person whose display is that big) away from your display. And it's still extremely unpopular in software developers to make their products scale well.

This is why I don't ever use 3440x1440. The complete absense of 34" 2560x1080 low latency monitors is driving me nuts and giving me cancer.

OP, don't ever consider a 6700 XT if you go for 3440x1440. It's not quite enough already for such resolution.

That's solid, not sure if its 1600 solid though. I think you can build it slightly cheaper. The card is less than half the rig's price, and for 800 you can defo build a 5800X3D as well, which is a LOT stronger.

Agreed, if 3440x1440, I would certainly opt for the 6800XT or better. I have substantial headroom on a 7900XT as it is today. I also suffer a MASSIVE CPU bottleneck on my ancient 8700k with it :) So for reference, if you go to that gpu perf level, get that 5800X3D at least or you waste frames. I will too.. eventually.

PC GAMER | AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8x3.80GHz | 16GB DDR4 | RX 7900 XT 20GB | 1TB M.2 SSD what do you think of this for less than 1600€ guys? Should i buy it?
The CPU is OK.
RAM is borderline OK, you'd rather buy additional 16 GB.
7900 XT is good for anything which is not three figure Hz 4K.
IDK how much space you need but 1 TB SSD makes sense at least.

Check this PC if the motherboard is fine and especially if the PSU is good. NEVER EVER SKIMP ON YOUR PSU.

And 1600 bucks is very much for that. I'd say $1300 is fair for such a PC.

MASSIVE CPU bottleneck on my ancient 8700k with it
Thank yourself for having an 8700K and not an FX-8350 at least :D

I want to play all the latest game (Diablo/Hogwarts legacy/Star wars/ Total war/Cyberpunk....)
If you want to play the latest games, and your budget allows a 6950 XT, then I don't see where the question is.
