prices are crazy in france
I have a theory based on the Hellhound price (that is the one I am familiar with).
I think the 9070XT was supposed to launch at $699 for the base models.
(remember "gamers buy sub $700 cards" sentiments from AMD? )
So the premium AIB models starts around +$50 compared to that (e.g. $700+$50=$750 for Hellhound).
But AMD in the last day changed the MSRP to $599. (I think someone mentioned AMD is asking many channels about what would be the best price)
And AMD decided -as compensation- to provide a $100 rebate to all AIB for the already produced 1(!) base (or maybe AIB can choose one freely but they all went with the basic SKUs) SKU of that AIB.
This is is why we see 1 SKU from each AIB for $599 (probably only valid for the current stocks of that base SKU).
And this is why the gap between base and premium SKUs feels $100 wider than normal (compared to 79000GRE, etc).
All of those base SKUs originally meant to be sold for $699 and probably after a few weeks we will see that the price will go "back" to that level for base models as well.
ps) oh no, TPU just mentioned prices going up:
