Did ya get one? I forgot about the launch and they are all sold out...
I have to go to Denver which is an hour away to get one at MSRP. Did confirm there are plenty there. I can't get up there till this weekend though so we will see.

where AMD has better market share it was a paper lunch
Well, no. The bulk of the European shipping was 675 Euro (VAT included) for the 9700 and 815 Euro (VAT included) for the 9070 XT. At MSRP price (700 Euro VAT included, 9700 XT) there were a few, but real, because I got one.

Was it a perfect situation? No, not at all. Better than Nvidia? Yes. Because the 5070 Ti can't even be found for 1150 Euro (VAT included) right now.

You know what is strange... You nothing thinking about the price increase that will be slapped on us because there aren't any. Look at the prices of the local Bestbuy, prices up to $250 dollars over the MSRP. Nitro+ is looking like the wholesale. Do you think this card is worth $850? Hell to the naw naw naw. AMD and its patterners better cash in while they can before Nvidia stock replenishes. The best models should be more than $600 - we had this performance for $800 with the 7900 xtx. What's strange is Nvidia's 5080 & down the stack and AMD 9070XT & down the stack are offering the same performance at/or more than the performance we had two years ago. Excitement is dead.

I'm sorry but i'm seeing plenty of $600 9070XT's in your favorite MC right now so your whole argument goes out the window. And no. 9070XT is priced like the 5070 and 7900GRE and smacks both pretty hard. Nvidia is the one doing the sidegrading

LOL, your own link has best buy with a 9070XT swift at $600. Stop arguing man, you're scoring own goals here.

My local MC had 700+ stock as per one of the associates.

After 3 hours of being in line (and I arrived before opening...) I could snatch 1 card for MSRP.
Lucky to have an MC close by

ps) the box has an interesting element on it :)

I'm very tempted to drive to Micro center this weekend. 2+ hour drive but they have apparently over 200 9070xts of different flavors in stock. The 9070xt isnt as huge of a bump as I'd normally want but its still a tempting upgrade.
I'm in the same boat. The less than 1.5x improvement from going from a 6800XT to a 9070XT doesn't feel like enough, but FSR4 and finally usable raytracing is the tempting bit.

I think I'll end up waiting for UDNA/NV6xxx series. The next series from both AMD & Nvidia should come with better nodes and new architecture to improve performance & efficiency.

No on is saying there was no stock, there wasn't much and MSRP models numbers where insignificant. As far as MSRP it was a paper launch, and for total quantity it was a lot worst than the previous gen in my country, like a digit difference.

I'm hoping they will have some when I travel to Kansas City in couple weeks. Sadly they won't be $600 anymore, I'm guessing around $680-$730 for these base models. Inventory keeps popping up on my trackers, but sells out in seconds only for models that are $730+

Benchmark Scores 3050 scores good 15-20% lower than average, despite ASUS's claims that it has uber cooling.
No reasonably priced 9070 or 9070XT in Germany, at least nothing that I could click quickly enough. (I did not actively seek either though)

AMD's market share was reported to be at around 15% even before 9000 series launch.

HUB stated this, based on who knows what:

Those sad-sack "nobody will buy these because consumers will only buy Nvidia" posts are not looking too wise right now

And, heck, AMD did manage to create hype.

I think FSR 4 played major role in it. Nobody expected it to beat DLSS 3.

I have a theory based on the Hellhound price (that is the one I am familiar with).

I think the 9070XT was supposed to launch at $699 for the base models.
(remember "gamers buy sub $700 cards" sentiments from AMD? )
So the premium AIB models starts around +$50 compared to that (e.g. $700+$50=$750 for Hellhound).

But AMD in the last day changed the MSRP to $599. (I think someone mentioned AMD is asking many channels about what would be the best price)
And AMD decided -as compensation- to provide a $100 rebate to all AIB for the already produced 1(!) base (or maybe AIB can choose one freely but they all went with the basic SKUs) SKU of that AIB.

This is is why we see 1 SKU from each AIB for $599 (probably only valid for the current stocks of that base SKU).
And this is why the gap between base and premium SKUs feels $100 wider than normal (compared to 79000GRE, etc).
All of those base SKUs originally meant to be sold for $699 and probably after a few weeks we will see that the price will go "back" to that level for base models as well.

ps) oh no, TPU just mentioned prices going up:

Nvidia seriously screwed themselves hard. If Nvidia actually had stock at MSRP I think the 9070XT would have just been meh. Like ok yes it’s like 50-100$ cheaper but that’s not enough of a discount for people to consider switching. But if it’s 600$ for close to 4080 performance, and the closest Nvidia option (5070Ti) is 1100-1200 then at that point why would you not get the thing that’s half the price?

Will they though? If AMD and boardpartners see that lower prices lead to much, much more sales, they might be inclined to go for lower prices with lower margins to gain marketshare and stay relevant in the GPU-market.

AMD does make enough money with their processors to accept lower profit on single graphic card sale for the opportunity to raise their marketshare. Maybe they'll accept that trade-off for now.

I honestly would love that to be the case! :)

I saw a bunch of 25+ in stock at my local MC for a white Asrock Steel Legend which was $600. I'm doing a white build next so that's why I'm sticking with white. An hour later I refreshed and it was down to 2. So I went in, there was a line 20 deep. They were letting in 5 at a time. It was noon. After 5min, this model sold out. I left as I wasn't going to pay extra $200-$250 for a white XFX. I don't even know the differences and reviews right now are focusing on performance rather than coolers. There are still 5 in stock at $600 from Powercolor, Asus, Gigabyte, and Sapphire. A bunch of $750-$780 models are sold out. Maybe those cheaper models have bad coolers. I would like to see a cooler comparison to see what to stay away from. There are 25+ Red Devils which is what I currently have with my 6950. I have it on quiet BIOS and it runs quietly.

Stock is still there if you're not picky. I'll wait for a restock of white Asrock Steel Legend. I hope the prices stay the same but can't really count on it. AMD knows the next step up is a 5080 at double the price.

I honestly would love that to be the case! :)

MC's "Limit 1 per household" rule.

(Let's not get into how could I get around such rule. Let's say I play by the rulebook usually)

How does that work in person? Are you required to give your ID when purchasing these limited items? I don't have an account and always decline giving my phone # to set it up. I also buy with Apple pay so they don't get my CC #. How do they track it?

Just google it I am not good at explaining it ;-)

Probably forcing my wife to buy one with cash would work but as I said "Let's not get into how could I get around such rule"

Microcenter has plenty in Denver. Hour drive South for you and Hour drive North for me, unless Bestbuy still has some in stock at MSRP.
Best buy had bots steal em all and there's nothing in store (best buy doesn't carry anything in store for many years here, dying company, only TVs).

For these high demand and limited to 1 per household items, yes they will request photo ID. For items which are not in high demand, ID verification is not required.

I dont use apple pay so not sure how that works. Does Apple pay share photo ID/address/etc at the time of purchase? If not, I'm guessing a photo ID will be necessary.
