Yeah you can build a PC with a custom loop that you can use indefinitely, I bet it's pretty amazing to game at 10 fps 10 years down the line on that PC for example but hey at least that loop you built still works, cool.

Every part of it except the GPU block would, yep. Swap in a new block with a new gen card, reuse the CPU block - good to go.

A product performing well when it's brand new, wow, shocking. Obviously the value proposition is there when compared to custom loop costs, as I've stated from the beginning, but that value degrades over time, whereas air cooling is as good as the day you bought it after a quick dust and a custom loop will perform indefinitely with maintenance.

E-waste.

You are very opinionated against AIOs. If you are so confident on your points explain to me how my Cooler Master Nepton 280 still works fine today? When we live in a World of 32 core CPUs one would realize that some people do not want huge heatsinks that have 140mm fans vs the ease of an AIOs. I would be willing to be bet that most AIOs that have AM4 support have a higher propensity to support AM5 mounts as well and regardless of what you say AIOs do have their place.

There are definite reasons to try an AIO. E-waste they may be in time, but so are motherboards, CPU's, GPU's and PSU's.

Installing a custom loop can lead to issues; most of us have had some form of disaster, recoverable or otherwise, and that's people who ought to know better. I mean, damn, we had a thread about custom loop mishaps. So for a normal person who isn't into tech, an AIO is just as relevant as a custom loop is to a hobbyist.

Yep most these price point cpu only loop kits include cheapest blocks and parts so these are more ewaste than anything and average 4-500.us
Quality water blocks cpu wise are north of the cost of a quality air cooler.
And as you say gpu blocks are not universal ever, so upgrading gpu is more waste seeing people are more likely to upgrade them more than mother boards.

RMA replacement sold as new rma replacement sold in less than 24hours so hardly ewaste.

Get a good 360mm or 420mm AIO and the 13900k will be fine..
But man, you really need 128gb of ram? Is it for work? Because for games, 32gb is more than enough this days..

I do 3d animation with cinemad4d and octane render engines for fun but also just said why not lol

Full custom loops are like $300-500+ to get started. But they last forever. Still have all my fittings, Pump, rez and rad from 2009. Using it right now.

The point that's being made is that air coolers perform fine, will still perform consistently at the same level five years later, and have zero points of failure aside from at worst a fan replacement, making that the ideal cooling solution for the average joe, and if you want to liquid cool for whatever reason doing a proper expandable, modular loop is the best option for longevity and performance.

Motherboards, CPUs, even GPUs last for decades, and a good PSU will last upwards of ten years.

None of that is waste - the used market for GPUs exist and they don't magically stop working when you decide to upgrade. A well cooled GPU which is the definition of one that's been in a custom loop will last even longer than an air cooled one. Plus you still have that brand new unused air cooler that is typically bundled with any waterblocked GPU sale.

The AIO manufacturers and sellers love the idea of a cooling system that costs peanuts to make, and if/when they eventually do fail, if it's in the pathetically short warranty period, typically two-three years, then they have the margins to send you a replacement - like yours that failed after 30 months.

I'm seeing a lot of "why would you care that the cooling system lasts indefinitely when the parts will be obsolete" type comments. That's the point, the cooling system is transferrable to any future parts you'll own.

Go for a decent air cooler, and also an air cooled card, unless you want to end with a really expensive paperweight in 3-ish years when the pump dies with little to no way to repair unless you build a custom liquid loop.

No, but that’s how my AIO went. 1 year of solid service, and down hill after that. It couldn’t cool my brothers quad after I was done with it at year 2.5 or 3. That is why I don’t promote AIOs. But to be fair that is how I treat my systems, and their cooling.

No, but that’s how my AIO went.

I've had an 120mm AIO on my 1080 for like 2 years, constantly under load 200W+ most of the day, I used it for AI, compute, etc. Still cooled it the same after all that time, I even sold it with the cooler.

See why this might not be the best line of reasoning ? AIOs sometimes break and fail over time but so do a lot of things. This is why it's nonsensical to hate on them when they clearly work just fine for the vast majority of users.
