OFFICIAL Star Citizen

Would anyone mind summing up for me how much of all this gamescon stuff is in-game? I've been out of SC for almost a year I think, and there is so much going on. I'm totally lost.

I'm currently looking at my X65-f and feeling like it needs new bolt on's.

Damn you SC!

I designed that new stick back in may......
yes you did!

well it also looks like my combo X55 + shield tablet (who is in RMA for fire hazardous battery :ohwell: )

None of it at the moment other than dogfighting. The social module should be in a week or two, FPS module in a month/two months along with multi-crewed ships.

Anyone want to try to beat Vanduul Swarm co-op?

There's a thread on reddit for people playing with others to get the Glaive - I just did it with them and they're getting people through wave 18 first attempt - note to get the ship unlock you only need to make it to wave 18 - if everyone dies wait until the game kicks you back to hangar and you can then get the ship (just grabbed mine and there's 360 left).

I just joined into a random match with two Merlins and a 350R, I was in a Super Hornet. Made it to 18 I was the last one alive. Got my ship :D

Gratz :D

Congratulations on those ships!

I'm an X65-f user, and this is my take on the top tier design.

It's still looks to be force sensing. The spring system doesn't look to have the throw of a full gimbal. What it does look to have is a small amount of throw with force sensing. Perhaps 5mm. This lack of throw was one of the big complaints of the x65-f.

The control panel still looks to have illuminated mode indicators and the 4 position mode switch is still on the throttle. It's the same as the X65 one just without the rear shroud and a new fixing system.

The throttle lock is not rendered.

There looks to be an additional mount for a smart phone on the control panel.

The main tablet looks to be 7", and will have it's own USB cable. A basic x65 uses all available button clicks for USB so a second usb is needed, They may do this with an internal hub. This would mean they would have to move the controller board to the stick, Add a usb hub, and run the PS2 cable to the throttle instead of the current in throttle controller. This means 2 cables on the stick and 2 on the throttle, 1 on the throttle might be a hard encased ribbon to the control panel. This would mean the control panel is no longer able to be moved to a better off throttle location like the X65-f's can be.

H3 on the stick looks to be back. This is the best hat on the stick, 4 way natural thumb hat. They have removed H2 for a track ball, I suspect that will be revised to a PSvita thumb stick.

It looks to only be slightly wider than an x65 but a lot deeper, and have more slope on the front to account for the screen, The throttle matches the style.

It should have.

Control panel:

4 mode indicators
4 buttons (assignable)
4 force selectors
1 safe button

Throttle:

4 4 way hats
1 2 way rocker
1 4 position mode selector
2 dendent rotaries with click function
1 click button
1 analogue stick (psvita style, nipple, or gimbal mouse, The render looks to be unfinished there)
2 throttles with 5% and 90% dendents.

Stick:
2 4 way hats
1 4 way POV
1 Analogue stick (psvita, ball)
5 single slick buttons.

btw anyone got the subprocess crash with the new launcher ? if yes then
just set your frequency audio at 24bits 96000hz instead of 192000hz, it's kinda shameful that the crash come from the music they used, not liking 192khz xD

i think i will make a Transport Tali (the other modules i will see later) and i got pulled over a P-52 Merlin ... sooo shiny could not resist ... not at 20$

also am i the only one who see that
3_3.jpg

when i check this
Retaliator-Top_v2.jpg Retaliator-Side_v2.jpg
(well seems not after reading a reddit post )

so now (for the moment)
Aegis Dynamics Retaliator base (+Cargo modules back and front) LTI, MISC Reliant LTI, Drake Interplanetary Cutlass Black, Kruger Intergalactic P-52 Merlin x2

edit: Cargo Tali seems to be interesting ... only 15 cargo cap less than a Freelancer and 5 manned turret (dual 007 Bull for all) now i wonder on the specs the cargo capacity of the base Tali is 128 does the 40 from the 2 cargo module add to that and make it a 168 cargo capacity ship? o_O

edit bis: well yes the cargo module add each 20 to the capacity so effectively 168 tho it's in the Q&A ... will watch for it :D

really like the modules concept and mechanics ...

no you are not alone in seeing the SR-71.

TBF I've not looked at the spec sheet for either the Tali or the Freelancer. They both have interesting concepts but I'm seeing more and more divergence from the original spec sheets with the more complete ships, so I gave up attempting to guess what is going to work best for me!

Even the Cutlass a ship that was almost set in stone if you looked at the site 2 years ago is now a totally different animal. I'm just going to wait and see, then play till I get the ships I want and the specs I want.

So with CIG handing out certificates to people at events if they purchased the ship at the event some enterprising fans made a blank template for the certificates. CIG then uploaded their couple of templates for the official certificates.

I've gone and taken the templates, made one for every ship and built a website for creating your own ship ownership certificates here: http://www.ueeshipregister.com/ - let me know if you have any suggestions or spot any bugs but quite a few people are enjoying getting ownership certificates for their ships.

That's cool!

would be cool to get a fake little VIN# generator. hmmmm

@human_error what is your certificate generator coded in?

Java EE on a WAS Liberty server. App is a single servlet setup with zero state so it's pretty efficient and scales very nicely (with the 300-400 people using it per hour it's not even touching the free AWS server I put it on).

VIN now randomly generates if the user does not provide one :)

AMD Mustang? :) I genned my 4 certificates, just because. Very slick page, thanks human :)

AMD Mustang certificate is there under "Mustang Omega" :)

Here's the entire multi-crew demo (not the livestream version) in all of it's glory.

Its cool until they start shooting. Those guns have no balls. They are all "pew pew" and I wanna hear some "Chug, chug, chug" like a "Ma Deuce" or something.

4:40 in.

well ... Bulldog are laser and laser should have no sound (even std gatling like the GT-125 Scorpion or the GT-220 Mantis would have no sound in space ) but if they had no sound that would be pretty borring (altho we don't know what kind of vibration a spaceship mounted gun would transmit in the cockpit and thus sounds... ) if we go by the standard laser maser noises, well that would be Star Trek Star War and such...
for ballistic ... well that M2 has a rather weak noise tho (even if a little amplified by the microphone)... i fired some of them but mounted on a 8x8 Mowag Piranha in the army they sound more like a pet pet pet pet than the bang bang bang bang you get in any war movie/serie :)

also only in movies and games the noise is like you ... "want" even a GAU 8 Avenger 30mm hepta barrel have a rather weak noise

notice that the noise is almost the same as the GT-220 Mantis :D

Well just to let you know that isn't an M60 in my video. Its a Browning .50 cal AKA "Ma Deuce" and until you hear one go off in real life you really don't have any idea the deep sound it makes going off. As for that A-10 video I have heard those go off also and that video doesn't really do it justice. It sounds more like a BUUUUURP when you are on the ground.

This is an M-60

Browning .50 cal

20mm

30mm

ok it's a Browning .50 (Browning M2 to be precise which the 2nd vids on that post show, and also the audio on that one is a tad better and show ho weak it sounds, ok still sounds better than a AR or MBR )i got that, i mixed the M 60 in the idea dunno why ... it's been already 14yrs for me ... ahah, well the M 60 for us is the equivalent of the MG 51 (which is a German MG 42 reworked) but i still heard a .50 up close and that browning would sound just like it in reality (same casing/lock/feeding system/trigger etc etc etc ) well in fact the one mounted on our Piranha 8x8 and on the M109 Kawest is a M2HB (oh .... i just got where the nickname "Ma Deuce" come ... ) well so i totally know how that gun sound in real (without earplug once ... and even like that it was not a sound i would qualify as strong and powerful )

even a quad 30mm Aden Revolver Canon shot from a Hawker Hunter (which pack near the same punch as a GAU 8, just ... less sustained firepower ofc) sounds weak for me ... ok i reckon i am used to hear a 3 burst 15sec M 126 155mm from a M109 Kawest in a live shot test (swiss variant of the M109 Howitzer and M109A6 Paladin after upgrade, roughly ) so anything sound rather weak in comparison

heck even the M61A2 Vulcan on our F/A-18C sound like a brrrrrttt (a type of "pet pet pet" but faster ...) heard at AXALP
ofc the live sound is a bit different than on video

how i feel in the Merlin....
in a reduced frame size tho  (and yes ... even on the swiss Hornet you have a hook, reminiscent of the carrier based one)

well the Mantis GT-220 sound almost like the M61A1 20mm so (being a 20mm Gatling it's a bit logical, altho the size in game is more of a 75mm one) .... no problem in SC sound :D (tho it sounds wrong for a Gatling ... unless it's a real slow one) Laser are pew pew pew logically ;) so they also sounds right

my fav sound (heard live that one is indeed a "BANG")
Solothurn S18/1000

but i get why you think like that for SC ... it's a game it should sound a bit more impressive

Thanks :)

My thanks go to discolando (aka Jared) from CIG who gave me the template for the info cards and let me create the site to generate them.

edit:
Oh and the social module is now in closed testing - people who are actively playing online arena commander are getting invites first while they iron out the last few bugs. One patch per day in that beta until it launches, hopefully very soon :)

it's going to be great when it all comes together

The map for the social module is beautiful! I spent a good half hour just staring at the city and the ships flying by.

you're in?

Anyone who played the game in the last 60 days has received an invite now. Next week it'll be on the live servers for everyone :)

Edit: Looks like CIG had a nice surprise for us!
