25 pages and I learned fuck all about the game.
What do you want to know?

Here is breakdown:
- runs like crap
- looks like crap
- mostly baron wastelands as planets, rather flat too.
- combat is OK
- flying is more of a chore than anything
- not really open world
- earth trees on plenty of planets
- mega cities consist of a few high rises where you can visit like 3 floors.
- Nova is a good location for a city
- contraband is fun to sell I guess.
- missions vary of all types so that's good.

This is quick breakdown that should give you an idea of the game.

Most of this can be summed up to a problem of scale, and I believe that is why Star Citizen has been in development hell for so long. Building an universe-scale game is quite the tall order, to that extent, I think Starfield does a decent job at simulating spacefaring while keeping things cozy. With DLC and mods, it should be a great game to experience in a couple of years' time.

I bet mods will be able to add planets, companions, more weapons, etc. - the game is much more exciting than bleak, and honestly a treat for anyone who enjoys Skyrim and Fallout 4.

It isn't a bad game. It isn't a great game either. It's a decent game though. Worth playing but not worth paying what they are charging for it.

Yeah, I do believe mods and the like will fix most issues but let's be real, why should we be relying on mods for something Bethesda should be, and charging for, doing?

Will it fix the root of the problem though? Mods made Skyrim something numerous times better, but they all are an improvement of a solid base. Judging from the comments and some streams, Starfield comes short in the very foundation of it. Also ridiculous how they can mess even a completely new franchise up.

I guess I was naive to expect Skyrim in space.

The AI, both enemies and companions is my no 1 issue right now. Makes the game kinda unplayable / unenjoyable for me. Its' worse than skyrim which is 12 years old. Realistically, they put 0 effort into this aspect, they just ported it straight from daggerfall or something.

Just remember the game hasn't been out for a week yet. And we all knew there would be numerous bugs and performance problems. Despite the constant game crashing I am still playing it an enjoying it. Games like this are about exploring and looking around and doing side missions. If you simply want to railroad your way through the first main mission then you missed the point and this game is not for you.

Strictly visuals-wise, that's what I thought on several occasions!
Washed out colours, weirdly unrealistic cartoony faces to name a few things. That on a game that's five or what years newer. On a newer engine.
I'm starting to be afraid what will they do to TES 6.

I have no crashes at all, desktop or the laptop. That's weird.

I played a lot today, this game has me hooked. Most games are too easy or too hard and this just nails the sweet spot for me. I got greedy and was carrying more stuff than I should, almost died 3x on one mission, but I sprinted (run out of oxygen fast cause i was over my eight limit but refused to ditch anything) so I got pinned inside a room then the melee enemies came, one grenade, then held off that wave, then i got an opening to sneak, only last 10 seconds, so I had to sprint, turn corners, sprint, barely made it to my ship alive, it was amazing lmao got a lot of loot too

I agree, the balance is very good. I wish I could find more ammo though for my favorite weapons. Tonight I am going to try and NOT BLOW UP an enemy ship and instead knock out the engines with the targeting computer, board it, and take it as a prize.

yep, i made mistake of buying a lot of ammo and then just not utilizing it right, turns out ammo is expensive as crap. so i am being more careful now, doing stealth melee sometimes too to save money.

my only main criticism of the actual game is i can't tell if this game supports multiple saves or not, or if auto save just overwrites my manual ones, cause i wouldn't mind having a main game save where i keep playing like i am now, but then a fuck around save where i enable console commands. but im afraid auto save will overwrite my important main save... so not going to risk it.

I didn't enjoy either Skyrim or Fallout 3/4 and like this so it really comes down to taste everyone's is different. Oblivion was the last Bethesda game I liked.

Yea, I bought a bunch of ammo and went broke. Defin pays to do stealth from time to time.

I didnt even think about the save game situation. I need something like you described because i want to manually save and then go and start blasting everyone that annoys me in Neon.

I feel like this space open world genre is so much harder to pull off than Skyrim.

The most successful games have a lot of depth - things that keep you coming back to the game, details inside the game world that are done well, that expound on previous details to make it feel like a real world/universe that makes sense or has some sort of artistic vision (Insomnia, the Ark). It's easier with fantasy/linear sci-fi because the lore is so much tighter, and the biomes are so few you can put a ton of detail into the environment.

It's almost impossible right to put any kind of depth into a procedurally generated set of planets - until we have an AI that can spend 500 million coding hours meticulously crafting unique and surreal planets to explore, then yeah that will be amazing, but right now I cant see having the variety and depth needed to pull it off.

I think Mass Effect did it best but like you're saying the freedom in that game was an illusion.

This games just a Bethesda rpg with space as a backdrop.

Were you intentionally going for a Johnny Depp/Jack Sparrow look? You aced it! I guess I can already tell you'll do a space pirate run for your first playthrough

On your crash issue is it just to desktop? I finally had a couple on my main rig and they all ended up being gpu memory clock based

It isn't a bad game. It isn't a great game either. It's a decent game though. Worth playing but not worth paying what they are charging for it.

Yeah, I do believe mods and the like will fix most issues but let's be real, why should we be relying on mods for something Bethesda should be, and charging for, doing?

Yeah it's certainly sold brillantly at least, apparently there have been at least 2 million beta testers across the PC and XBOX platforms.

@Easy Rhino I saved manually and auto save, and I go to main menu, look at load option or continue option, continue will just take me to my last save most recent on timeline it looks like, and manual saves with other charachters do show up when i look under the load area of menu, but there is lot of autosaves there too, not sure what the cutoff number of saves is, i see 17 combined auto and manual saves so far in mine... so will the manual ones of the other characters get overwritten at some point by an auto? that's what I can't figure out.

not sure why its so complicated to try and have two characters in this game :/ other than that i am having fun though
