Perfectly fine. Your "o" is not my "o" and that's pretty much that.

It's always a little amusing when people prove that their only reference for how things are, should be and should be done is...themselves. Even more perhaps when it pertains to something as absolutely crucial as how exactly computer games are played.
Add to that the gall to have this attitude with a Bethesda game that has a long history of mods. It's so ingrained even the development has mod capability built in.

That too, of course. Must not have seen any of the *many* interviews where Todd Howard heaps praise on the modding community and how Starfield has been built to be played for a decade and more - because of modders.

Content mods - aka new questlines etc, which does add playability to the game, just like in skyrim.

But removing all ship building limits is akin to modding in weapons and armor with stupid high values, which is just lame.

Suuure, 'cause you know for a fact that Todd meant just those mods and not the mods that you don't like.

How about you play your games exactly how you like to and don't bug other people about how they play theirs?

Reached lvl 51, and using no mods (cause mods are lame) i finished how my Frontier is gonna be

Replaced the PBO-40 autos with these

And got a new reactor on

Mobility took a slight hit to 91, but it's as good as it gets while maintaining the look of the original Frontier with the engines etc, which is what i wanted.

Once i reach lvl 60 (thus have all C class upgrades unlocked) i will build the ultimate C class ship with a ton of cargo space. Gonna use 6x of these engines https://inara.cz/starfield/ship-module/2010/ and accept a bit lower mobility (like 50), as i will use turrets - should be able to get at least 15.000 cargo space with that setup.

And liked how this place looked !

Good weapons there., but with an A class reactor you're very limited on what shields you can use. If you tell me that shields are lame as well, I'm going to have to ask what difficulty mode you're on and if you tried taking on both Hunter and Emissary in the Revelation dog fight, IF you've done it yet that is. :D

I had hit the max at 10 and wound up getting stuck in space and had to go back to my last save, so these are the ones I kept so I have room to pirate some more. I wish they would let you part out the ships you get and use the parts to build other ships through a hanger bay pad that you could add to an outpost.

I would run the Freestar collective missions and get the Star Eagle for free when you finish the main story mission.....

It's a good ship that can be upgraded pretty quickly.

Just updated mods after the patch and had some time so I took screens with the top off to show the hidden armaments. Btw I realize for myself that I think the funnest part is building ships and hiding stuff in them lol, so I think I need to raise that ship limit.

Yeah it was I, but as well as I had the thing equipped, I still had to drop down to Normal difficulty. I think next NG+ I'm going to side with Hunter or Emissary so I don't have to go it alone in that dog fight. I kicked it back up to Hard when I got on the planet, and even tried the attack vs negotiate ending of Revelation. What a mess that was, got lots of lag and a crash. Thanks for the help.

BTW, as you may have guessed I didn't actually try the C class reactor, I only thought about it, but once I saw how tall it was, I opted not to. I was just up so late I'd forgotten that.
Even C class comes in different shapes/sizes. Some are 2 units high, but there are low profile ones too :)

Why would i say that shields are lame... what im saying is lame is people modding the game, removing all restrictions so they have 10 shield generators etc. And yes, you are limited to A class parts with an A class reactor - that's the entire point.

As for fights, i took out the entire crimson fleet at kryx. Doing it with a fast ship (194 speed with sam as crew) is very simple - first get in range of them, then turn away and get to full speed - then hold space, and you can go backwards at full speed while shooting at them, and your speed ensuring that you can pick off 1 or 2 at a time. Rinse and repeat. Was easy enough killing all 40 ships that way.

This is what mine looks like at lvl 54.....

Your frontier looks cool, but it isn't really the frontier anymore :p that was the point of my build, that i wanted the overall build to remain the same, and make it as good as can be within those limits :)

Agree on parts btw, same for weapons - it was like that in fo4, dunno why they changed it. Crafting system is a downgrade from fo4 imo.

Really? I found the Freestar Ranger quests to be pretty good and the ship you get for completing them, the Star Eagle, is one of the best ships in the game. Its EM weapons make capturing enemy ships a breeze, its laser cannons eat shields almost as fast as the Shieldbreaker's auto-turrets and its twin missile launchers deal incredible hull damage. It also has shields that can withstand being outnumbered 5 to 1 against Crimson Fleet and it has a standard cargo capacity of 2.28Mg.

I've been using it as my main ship for quite awhile now and absolutely love it!

I really wish that we could make completely custom-designed ships though because I would totally build one that looks like this:

The perfect match for my name! ;)

I buy and sell ships all the time so I probably wouldn't even notice (unless it was Razorleaf, Shieldbreaker or Star Eagle).

I should try that because it sounds like a really fun way to play and, being Canadian, it's perfectly legal for me to do so!

More shields generator shouldn't be give more shield to the whole ship. Instead it should give multiple shield zones. (like star citizen)

I don't really care, as I enjoyed the 30-40 hours I played of the game, and I fully expect to get 100+ hours once the expansion comes out and I do a full playthrough patched up... but still surprising to see this... Baldur's Gate 3 is 100% going to win goty across the board for every site and magazine this year, no doubt in my mind now since Starfield has dropped to "Mixed" review rating.

A number of genuinely dissatisfied users + a huge review bomb will do that to ya. I doubt Beth is all that concerned, given the sales numbers. And BG3 deserves the win in any case.

Easy, was just musing after your mods are lame comment. I honestly didn't know one could go full speed backwards, regardless of the build. The most top speed I've ever built into a ship is 150 though. None of what you said though is relevant as far as I'm concerned unless you reveal what difficulty mode you're talking about, or what you spent on the ship.

And indeed those kinda mods are.

I suspect most people don't know that.

I always play on normal, unless a game is absurdly easy (like skyrim once you get to higher levels).

I don't know - alot, as it has been upgraded continuesly as i've leveled up. You can see the collective cost of all parts on a ship in the value - so the value is what the ship cost to build in its current form.

I don't see how what difficulty i play or what the ship cost should in any way invalidate any of what i said though... seems like a strawman argument...

Yeah... a tragic tale of "What could have been...", eh?

Yeah I got in the habit of doing a short nap and dropping off resources there to heal and lighten up after each quest, especially after collecting artifacts as well. For me it's Andreja waking up saying things like how amazing I am and how she can't wait to "learn" more next time! Which is perfect because I really enjoyed my Spider-man Remastered run on Amazing mode! I feel like telling her, "Yeah babe, I had a swinging good time too" (in my best Austin Powers accent), but it's just not a dialog option. :D
Yeah, Sarah says funny things like "Where did you learn to do THAT?....and please don't say Neon...".

Just tested with the engines i wanna use for my C-class ship, and i was indeed right that i would be able to do just over 15k cargo with 50 mobility - 17k cargo infact.

Obviously aint what my ship is going to look like, but just for testing purposes.

^^That's the Cabot cockpit right? It usually is the basis for large multi level builds but it actually looks good on this tiny ship. It reminds me of a a tadpole or something.

I don't see how what difficulty i play or what the ship cost should in any way invalidate any of what i said though... seems like a strawman argument...
Wow, now you're name calling just because I state the obvious? ALL I can say is try Hard mode, as I HAVE, and it's QUITE a bit harder than Normal in space. I'm doubting you would have survived that Crimson battle, as it would've taken far more than just tooting your horn to get by them.

You don't see it now because you've not even tried Hard, meaning it wouldn't be so easy to wipe out 40 Crimson attacking all at once on that mode, and obviously THAT was my point. What doesn't matter is having a horn. :kookoo:

Name calling? What? I think you should lookup what name calling actually means.

But there we have it "i play on HARD, and you dont, so anything you say is invalid" - was so predictable once you started mentioning difficulty. Tryhard ppl are always the same.

The ironic part is that you clearly didn't understand what i wrote - i didn't take on 40 ships at once - i picked them off 1 by 1, using the strategy i explained. But that evidently flew over your head.

Edit : and i just did the same on very hard - same exact thing. They deal more dmg, but using that tactic, it makes zero difference.

As soon as they engage fly away, get beyond their attack range, get shield back up to 100, then slow down a bit to get 1 ship within range and kill it. Rinse and repeat. But obviously only works with a fast ship.

Here is the latest ship that I pirated.....

I can now see why ever one likes this cockpit and the ship layout is pretty cool.

I came against a group of ships with 2 of those, and a smaller ship named something with II - sadly i thought the one named II was gonna be better due to that, so destroyed the 2 claymores xD would have liked that ship !

Oh really so "strawman" is a term I should relish being equated to? You were CLEARLY making it sound like you have dog fights down pat with you braggadocios "I killed 40 Crimson" carrying on, so naturally since dog fights can be one of the hardest elements of the gameplay in Starfield, I was curious as to what difficulty you were playing on. I didn't expect you to get your panties twisted over that, but now that I see how you dish out metaphors you fail to own up to, I guess it's not surprising.

And I'm not bragging about beating ANY dog fights on Hard, I merely tried the fight against both Emissary and Hunter, along with the Guardian, on Hard, but failed. I had nowhere NEAR the level of ship you're talking about, and I was just curious from what you said if it's possible to "buy your way out" of a tough dog fight with an elite ship. I'm having a hard time grasping how it's possible to go "full speed in reverse" though. Every time I've tried reverse the ship not only travels MUCH slower, it won't boost at all that direction, which I assume is because it's only using thrusters that direction. One would have to have as many engines mounted in the front of the ship as in the rear to accomplish that realistically, and then there's still the boost problem. It just doesn't make sense to me.

You make it sound easy to evade and snipe from a distance, but that seems to all depend, again, on the ship and parts you have. I've not yet been able to build a ship that can do adequate damage from that far a range, and as soon as I start shooting well out of targeting range, they speed towards me and overwhelm me. I DO have level 4 Starship Design now though, so I should be able to build a much better ship next time. I also have Piloting, Targeting, and Shield skills maxed, and have leveled up ship weapon skills some too.

I seem to recall reading in a guide somewhere not to bother with Ballistic ship weapon skills though, and stick with Laser, Beam, and/or EM, and Missiles, so I may have wasted points on Ballistic. It would be nice if you could reassign skill points. Honestly though, for the most part I've only had success at terrestrial fights on Hard, but I DID on the first NG+ playthrough at least manage the dog fight against The First on Hard before going to the Factory they were holed up at, but it took a few tries. I also know other than evading to a safe distance you can as well sometimes grav jump to another system in battles where they come in waves, as I did that once when my ship needed repair and I had no Ship Parts. You can even take the time to dock and pay for a repair, then head back to the battle, and it will pick up where you left off, with your progress saved.

I'm getting the hang of using the ship builder though, so that should help a lot. And I'm not here to bash anyone, so please, lets' not go there. I was just shocked by the "Strawman" comment. ;)

BTW, I was curious about the ship you showed above that's maroon with a split hull front? It looks similar to a ship I saw a guy use that was pretty effective for him, minus the huge cargo space. The Mobility and Speed stats are nowhere near the 100/150 I had on my upgraded Razorleaf though, so is that just a cargo ship? I'm tempted to do the Consulting quest for Stroud-Eckland again though, and this time insist on the bounty hunter ship the design crew leader wants. I went with the multipurpose option last time, and it had only two weapons. It was fairly fast and had a decent shield though. I'm a big fan of getting a free ship and upgrading it, especially if the hull is tall enough to work with a class C grav drive so I can use a class C shield.
