just got it for $359. can't beat that. i have a 512gb microsd collecting dust at the moment too. so i can just slot that in. that will hold me over for now until the 2230nvme drives come down in price.
I may have ordered one as well. :rockout:

Now to decide SDXC or replace the eMMC with an NVMe first.
My microsd card has 133mb write and worked way better than I thought.

I pre-ordered the 512gb deck before we knew it would be easy to replace the ssd. I wish I got the 64gb version because my 1tb fast sd card is nigh indistinguishable from the ssd in most games.

it can be a real pain in the ass to get some things working right on a 64gb variant, such as epic games store games. you really need a 256gb nvme in this thing. and then the microsd of course too

I am pretty happy I will have a 256gb nvme for cheap and a 512gb microsd. for the types of games I will be playing (some games I will be streaming with remote play from my 6800 xt desktop, its super easy to do and takes like two minutes) so all of that combined, very happy with my purchase.

Thanks for the tip. I think I'll try with just the sd card at first. Now to decide - 512GB or 1TB....

Support Sabrent, they are awesome. Get the 1TB Sabrent for $160 off Amazon and pop it in the 64gb model. I am considering canceling my 256gb nvme and doing that myself. YOLO

You get the better screen with the 512gb, that's a plus. :toast:

I agree, but if he only has money for the sd card now, then he should be fine until he can buy the m.2 drive.

did you not look at the pc specs? they can afford it... ;p

You can get the 64gb version and upgrade to a 1tb nvme for less than a 512gb version.

You can get a screen protector that has nearly as good anti glare while also protecting the screen and a 1tb nvme for less than the 512gb version.

I watched a youtuber compare both screens, and they said they liked the non-anti glare screen better actually. I guess the colors don't pop as well on the non-anti glare one.

yep I got the 64gb one, i canceled my order for the 256gb nvme actually, cause the seller looked a bitch sketchy.

i prob will just say fuck it and get the 1tb sabrent for 160.

@Mindweaver why did you pick the frostsheet over say IC Diamond graphite sheet or thermal grizzly's graphite sheet?

edit to my above post ^ i ordered the 1tb 2230 drive for $160, fuck it, lol - now just need to order the graphite sheet, just not sure what brand to go with.

also I meant the review I saw said the cheaper models had the better screen and better color pop, the expensive model of steam deck actually made the picture quality worse, but that is subjective opinion. i do know that pure glass makes colors pop better, so i am glad i got the cheaper model.

Hi there, i've slip with the spring sale and order one, i've watch a lot of review especially about the 64GB, since that's the one i've order, but if i install an ssd and install steam os in the ssd, is it possible to use the 64GB for games or other thing ? and is it safe to do so ?
EDIT : i've rewatch the valve video teardown and they state that the 64GB also use the M2 slot. I was thinking that eMMC was a chip buit in to the mother board. Guess i will stick with micro SD when i receive it and see how it goes. I've seen that shader cache is store into the main storage by default but there's software to clear them or store them in micro sd, it probably will not be a bother then.

I bought the Frostsheet because it's graphene where those are graphite, but honestly if I had to do it over again then I would just use good paste or use the IC Diamond graphite sheet due to how cheap it is over the frostsheet. Just remember if you use paste you'll have to replace it at some point where the Frostsheet and those graphite sheets won't have too. You can reuse the frostsheet on say a new steam deck down the road.

do you think the frostsheet produces better temps then the other two options?

I'd get the IC Diamond sheet. I had to wait a few weeks for my Frostsheet to be delivered. If your deck comes with the delta fan then I would replace it with the Huaying fan. It's an easy swap and it's way more quite. Valve is starting to ship Steam Decks with the Huaying but they are still shipping the delta fans as well. Here is the one I bought and it's the same one ifixit is using.

Same same, with the teeth kicked in, I went big because of the non glossy Screen only to put a Shiney screen protector on and it was then that I. Knew I Ffd up.

I mean its not end of world. Also, the microsd card 64gb is useless if you want to put like epic games store on your steam deck, it won't work unless you get a bigger nvme drive. for some reason epic games store has a glitch and won't let you select microsd card. so yeah. you still did alright in the end.

I keep my Steam Controller in a plastic bag with the batteries out. Uses AA, so I can keep it for life and use it.

That's where lithium everything gets it all wrong imo, so much waste.

I wish Steam Deck had no battery, and would plugin to the wall only. I'd love for it to be a bit lighter

I'm considering one of those JSAUX shell replacements for the back. If I am opening it up, I am going to replace the thermal pad/paste. Gamer's Nexus shows that Thermal Grizzley's Carbonaut performs better than the IC Diamond at 150w to 270w but perform nearly the same in at 95w. Either would be complete overkill at the Steam Deck's 15w. I like that. IC Diamond's is significantly cheaper while still being incredible overkill. I agree. I will probably get the IC Diamond.

The shell is having mixed reviews though. Poor quality manufacturing mostly. Some people don't like that the metal plate gets hot but I don't think I would mind that. Jsaux is proving to not be a good brand but I really like the look of the colored shells.

How well does GTA V run on a Steam Deck.
Just wondering...

2 hours and 12 minutes at stock settings.
3 hours and 20 minutes if maximizing battery life.

Yeah, I was really tempted to buy one as well, but I finally just decided not to get it because I would never see it with my Killswitch case. If you plan to get the IC Diamond sheet then I would replace the fan as well with the much quieter Huaying fan I listed above.

Other than upgrading the SSD I would say the fan would be my next best upgrade. I would go so far as to say I would just use paste and the new fan if I had to pick one or the other. You will just have to replace the paste at some point. Of course, Valve ships it with just paste. I think if I had to do it all over again I would just use some MX-5 paste (What I have laying around) and the new fan. :toast:

There is a game called Braid on Steam, its a really old indie game.

However, I was playing it on Steam Deck tonight and it looks absolutely gorgeous on steam deck, honestly this game was made for Steam Deck it feels like...

Highly recommend Braid to all of you, most of you probably have it in your library and don't even know it lol

I am honestly very impressed with the Steam Deck. I only had one issue my entire time with it and that was one of the "Great on Deck" games, Limbo - it loads but then its just a white screen and the white screen won't go away. Other than that, I have had 0 issues with it.

Best $360 I have spent in ages, the speakers on it sound so good too. Really impressed with all of it. Only thing that could make me happier is if it was it a 3nm APU and an OLED screen at the same resolution, I'd be fine if everything else stayed the same.

Not a fan of the art style for braid but the games look very interesting.

It's been a week since i got my deck and it's a really great piece of hardware and software. I've setup emudeck and it was a blast to play some ps1, wii or breath of the wild on it. I've not play a lot of pc games for now but it will be mostly light 3d game or 2d game. Most of the time spent on it was setting up, troubleshooting and optimizing thing with emulator. Time to play a lot now.

I wasn't a fan of Braids art style either, but on the Steam Deck with brightness at about 70% it looks insane! highly recommend you give it a go on the Deck
