Which console would you choose?

ps4 needs backwards compatibility or i am not bothering.

You go ahead and develop backwards compatibility to run the PS3 on an x86 system. It's not feasible, nor is it necessary. If you have PS3 games, then play them on your PS3 - or use the cloud service Sony will be utilizing to play PS3 games.

I would really like a WiiU but the games they have announced are not that great (besides new Zelda and Mario). I have a modded OG Wii with HD cables (420P) and I hardly ever play it :(

I heard Gran Turismo 6 will be released for PS3 so i'll be sticking to PC & PS3. I picked up a PS3 simply for GT5 :o

why would i go ahead and develop something for a for-profit company if i am not being paid? :nutkick:

also, why have 2 consoles cluttering up my living room when i can have 1 that does everything? :slap:

and the cloud service is not going to run ps3 games nearly as well (if at all) as running it from a ps3.

i guess i will have to wait for the ps3 to be completely useless before upgrading.

I don't even know where my wii is last time I saw it it was in my attic somewhere, I am also thinking like that with the WiiU but nintendo does make solid consoles with low failure rates, which is why I am hoping they will pull something out of those asses of theirs and gets more third party support.

But you can't, because they don't make it, and it isn't going to happen. It would be stupid to spend the time and resources to do it as well. There's barely PS2 or Xbox emulation on a PC yet that works flawless, and you think they're gonna make the 360 or PS3 work on the next gen systems? Yeah.

Have you used Gaikai or Sony's online cloud services before? How do you know how it runs? OnLive runs games fine and this uses the same concept, so what is the issue?

PC but if I had to pick one I'd go Xbox.
Mostly because I've enjoyed the xbox more then Sony and Nintendo. Think they will have a better selection of games and features and so on. I'm not a fanboy. I have owned everyones consoles and actually loved my PS3 for my media and was the last console I sold off out of the 3. Even though the Xbox has had a rocky start I think it will end up being the best. (to me)
Also the xbox has the best controller and the PS? has the worst.

I don't care whether you're a PS3 fanboy, Xbox fanboy, or Wii fanboy, or no fanboy at all. State your honest opinion, if you had to choose one, which console would you choose this year? (Note: If you only play on PC, then chose which one you would choose IF you were going to buy a console. :))

Here are the detailed specs of each (from the IGN website):

Your system specs is hilarious:roll: but anyways I will be getting a PS4 :respect:

i havn't used those services before so i am definitely being a bit of a douche about it. i guess i will just have to wait and see how the cloud service works before i judge.

So he's "checking out other forums" again... any takers on how long it'll be before he comes crawling back again?:roll::laugh:

I'm curious how many people here value backwards compatibility and how much they value it. How many people played PS1 and PS2 games on their PS3, XB on X360, GC on Wii, etc. and how often? Did it change much as time went on?

I actually have a few PS1 and PS2 games that I played for a while - and while I don't play them consistently, I do like to go back to them. For instance I completed THPS3 again a few months ago because I fucking love that game. I also have Driver 2 which is my favorite game of all time and I still like to go back to every now and then. This is why I've held onto my 60gb.

I like how almost every post has been like, Consoles are dumb, PC FTW!!!!

If I had to pick, I would say Xbox just because I know no one's voting for it; and also Halo and Forza; and the PS controller is worthless. PS4 does seem to have alot of blantantly obvious advantages if I were to be totally objective I would have to probly say ps4

Yep I also did the exact same thing

Shame I haven't played GT5 that much. I haven't turned on my PS3 in over 6 months :ohwell:

They will all sell, they will all make money, they will all shape gaming future, same as always

PC gaming is only growing because consoles in the past year ( or so) have shown the age ALOT.

It happens everytime!

Now WTS. Intel just needs to buy nVidia and be done with it.Them 2 together are the gaming kings in the PC gaming world.

PS3 games will supposedly be playable on PS4 using the streaming technology Sony acquired when they purchased Gaikai, it's just that it wont be available from day one.

Checking out other forums... Let me know when erocker has gone bugged other people somewhere else. Be back soon. By the way, did you know moderators can ACCESS ALL YOUR PERSONAL INFO and log into your account and change your info? erocker keeps changing my signature. He's changed it three times already.

Yup, that's why they are called moderators, they can moderate the use of foul language or non appropriate images on ppl's sigs, that's their job :)

I would probably go for PS4, as I love JRPG games. Besides it has Naughty Dog studio.
XBone's exclusive titles are too similar to PC games.

thats one of the reasons I look at PS4 also, if you play JRPG, its the way to go, especially if you play imports like Tales of Xilla 2(just beat it and its very good) and whatnot.

for me personally, xbox exclusives aren't even worth looking at. Aside from Crackdown which I enjoyed but is not worth owning a console for, nothing they had on offer for 360 was anything special imo. I don't expect that to change with one. PS3 I had Infamous, MGS, Demon's Souls, Naughty Dog, Heavy Rain, GT, and more. I owned both consoles for about an equal amount of time, and then sold my (3rd) xbox to replace my (1st) broken ps3. haven't looked back since.

I also can't stand the amount of advertising on Xbox, and One will be worse i'm sure.

PC FTW but I like consoles too!

Considering I have two 360's, two PS3's and a gaming rig.

I'll have that PS4 please! Maybe two of them.

Why do you have multiple consoles? It seems like alot of people have more than one PS3 or 360. Is there any reason for it?

most likely is probably multiple rooms or locations, but also i know people will keep a second that they don't update so they can play copied games.

At this point during the generation, it's cheap enough to have multiples (incase you might like exclusives on both). For people who get both at launch, thats an easy one, it's for people who have more money than they know what to do with it, so they just buy anything they want.

does anyone still have their launch PS3(mine lasted till last year) or 360 though?

Oh ok. That makes sense; one of my life questions has been answered! lol...

Edit:

I know 2 people for sure that have original 360, and at least one that has his original PS3. The bluray drive just died on it tho. On the 360, the one guy bought his launch week and its still just fine. He had to do a slight mod for cooling when it got so hot the mainboard warped once tho lol. Still all original hardware tho

Probably not many with the 360 (maybe some that seen light use), I remember a gaming magazine going to E3 (I think 4 - 5 years ago) and asking people there if they had their original 360, they found 1 person who did. And the console had only been out like 2 years at that point.
