It won't let me edit my post above, so I have to post again.
I am playing the new expansion tonight, and this is the best common I have seen in many years... really should have been an uncommon, not that these designations mean anything anymore with this game, but eh.

In other news, I am enjoying the new expansion more than I expected, they gave us a free Jump Start with the midweek Magic event, that is kind of fun cause it's fairly balanced. Stuff like this is why I enjoy Arena, doesn't cost me a penny and I get to enjoy the new cards.

Edit: here is the new mastery pass card sleeve styles, loving the art on these

But that's seven whoppin mana, right... for one card up and a deathtouch effect. Its common because that's rather expensive mana wise. Four mana cards should already be big game impact, a single attacker with deathtouch isn't exactly that. You're also not getting deathtouch on a defender. You also don't have a body that actually attacks, yet.

There's a lot of cards in this category now that so many sets come around. Its always good to dissect them completely. What do they really give you in your game? Some keywords look real tough but their wording / the rest of the card then kind of mutes that effect a bit.

Could be good for Pauper format though. I rarely run commons in Standard Ranked.

Unfortunately, I know absolutely nothing about Magic (unless it's White Magic!), but that looks neat. Seeing that on cards reminds of the physical version of the card game within Final Fantasy IX that they released.

And... now I want to play through Final Fantasy X again. It's funny what seeing a picture can do. The awkward thing about that is I played it a couple years ago and "finished" it but then went on to do all the end game grinding stuff and never finished it (and I wanted to do that before moving on to starting X-2), so... I never reached that one. So if I go to replay X now, that means replaying it pretty soon, but I'd want to play it if I replay X-2, and I want to replay that too. Choices, choices. I still need to finish the pixel remaster of of VI and then I wanted to play VIII (recently replayed IX already, but I might even redo that one to dig into the Moguri mod). And all of that is on a back burner because I'm focusing on other stuff until... probably early next year at least? So by time I do get around to X again, maybe enough time will have passed I don't mind replaying it again.

Maybe just watch some story summaries of different parts of FFX, and then finish your end game stuff after that, then start X-2, that will save you a lot of time. I replayed FFX recently as well, but when I went from Deck LCD to Deck OLED, I forgot I had Steam Cloud turned off, and I reset my LCD when I moved to OLED model, so I lost like 60 hours of gameplay... was brutal. Not sure I will start back over any time soon, it's just such a major commitment, but I had fun though. I will eventually.

Also, White Mage is my favorite class in FFXIV at the moment, so I also like White Magic. Anyways, I wish you the best on your replays! I actually find getting cozy with Deck OLED is very fun for games like Final Fantasy, you should consider a handheld of some kind.

yeah, and imo it makes the game more enjoyable, because I was mostly just chilling in bed playing completely relaxed, so it was easier to just get lost in the story. Also, the back buttons on the Deck I would manually change to the bonus features like increasing speed, no random battles, etc. It was really easy to do too

anyways, back on topic for magic. couple hours until my new quest unlocks for the day, so looking forward to that. i have 140k gold saved up now, im saving all my gems and gold to enjoy the final fantasy crossover next year without paying a penny

I sort of have been considering a Steam Deck, as the smaller screen size and the lower resolution would be nice (there's still the 4:3 thing, but oh well), and it could be something I lay in bed and play, haha.

And yeah, I'm split on if I'll play X again or skip it and go to X-2. I definitely don't need to look the story up to refresh me; I remember it all. It was mostly seeing that picture in the article you showed that made me go "yeah, I want to play it again now".

Ya know, I have been watching this thread off and on for quite some time.

I've got a "pile" of these cards that I've had for probably 20+ years now.

Thought about selling them, but don't know where a good place would be to sell these at.

Hell, I don't even know if they are worth anything. LOL

OOld cards have a high probability of being pricey. A few examples from when I got back into it, shortly before the investors ruined the game, cards on the reserve list like mox diamond were only $35, now it's around $800. Same for lions eye diamond. My brother opened that in the '96/'97 and chucked it in a box with commons. Dumb cards I just kind of bought "just cuz" like Copper Tablet (beta) for $2 are now hundreds.

There's a big difference between 20 year old cards and 27 year old cards.

20 year old cards are like, Mirrodin (aka: year 2003). Which has $10 to $100 cards in it. Like... cool but nothing to go crazy over. (And even then, there's only ~10-ish cards above $20 in that set). If you've got an Isochron Scepter or something, yeah its a cool $15 to $20 if its new (though you'd might have to drop the price down to $8 or so if its only in fair condition).

27 year old cards like Original printing, Alpha, Beta (etc. etc) has $500 to $200,000 cards in it (dual lands on the $500 side and $200,000++ is obviously a top-end Black Lotus. Probably more common to find a $10,000 Black Lotus but uhhhhh, you probably don't have that one. And if you did, it probably isn't in tip-top condition to sell for over $10k).

The vast, vast, vast majority of cards are worth 5-cents or less however. You'd be looking for "money cards", which you'd have to look up. If you dropped a few pictures in this thread, maybe we can help you get started.

You definitely can sell them directly to some of these magic sites, no hassle. I forget what the best ones are.

I was recommended Card Kingdom I think at one point, but there might be better ones, I am unsure.

Hmm, I'll get them pulled out and get pictures of them.

I have 0 idea of what cards I have.

I'm thinking these are from mid to late 1990's though. Seems like that's when I grabbed these.

LOL, I don't even know why I've kept them for so many years. :p
Maybe foresight?

Haha, stinger608, that's legendary you’ve hoarded those cards for decades! Dust them off and take some pics, who knows, you might be sitting on a goldmine! Card Kingdom is solid, but eBay’s like a wild card in a game of chance.

I would avoid ebay personally, too many scammers there. At least if you do a big trade with Card Kingdom you know it will be processed properly, etc. On the other hand, you could just keep them and enjoy them for nostalgia. I don't have anything too valuable from my old collection, so I just kept mine for nostalgia.

I had an awesome Blue/Green Madness deck when I was in high school, but some kid offered me 75 bucks for it, and it only cost me $35 to build it. So, I made profit and sold it, but stuff like that I still regret, just cause it would be neat to relive some of those matches with my old decks.

one bad thing about magic arena, is that if you do a sealed deck tournament, cost of entry is 2000 gems, but even if you end up as champion, max you can win is 2200 gems, so 200 gems win for the champion, sure the few packs are nice, but packs are easy to get for 100 gold, its not really worth even doing sealed tournaments, the winnings are just junk, they need to increase it to 2600 gems or 3000 for first place winner, or leave it at 2200 gems but make it like 10 packs instead of 3. i just have no desire to do a tournament, its so hard to win, but even if you do i mean who cares. lol
