Don't mess with Von Scwalbe - he's a taco fundamentalist.

well, the beef in taco bell taco's in america is questionable. if it's home made or higher end place, I am happy to go with beef. for taco bell, at least in finland, i will do the pulled oats option. @Ruru if you have not had taco bell in finland yet, i highly recommend the pulled oats options at taco bell

me too @Count von Schwalbe lmao

You either love it or hate it, there's nothing in between with Marmite.
Yeah, I'm on the hate it side of things.

Dammit now I want tacos for lunch.

Real ones.
Yes! TacoBell for lunch today! Yum!

Questionable? How so? I love it! It's tasty and reasonably healthy. The oats thing doesn't bother me at all. The flavor is what counts and it's still good.

Hell, I haven't still tried even Burger King even though it's been here for years. :laugh:

I had a McDonald's in the Artic Circle in Finnish Lapland when I took my Grandaughter to see Santa in December 2015, at the time it was supposed to be the only fast food restaurant in the Artic Circle but damn, on that day it was minus 37 degrees.

I'm just glad I can go anywhere in the world and get taco bell... mmm nacho supreme... and 1 hardshell taco to go please :roll:
Sorry, not in my country ! ;)

Anyone live in Birmingham here? The whole bin situation is insane.

Crazy the basic gist I think is obviously the typical bin people got a pay cut while the higher ups salary remain unchanged or something? I don't really understand the full story but that wouldn't surprise me at all as council sure love to make the bottom of the barrel employees feel like sh*t all the time.

It goes a lot deeper. You basically have a lot of people in high up positions that keep opening empty job positions that don't go anywhere for their mates or just to tick boxes to show that they are hiring from a certain demographic to pick up bigger grants and the like. Eventually the money runs out one way or another.

Obviously I'm skirting around the issue but it's not something that is allowed to be discussed in this clubhouse.

It's illegal in the UK to positively discriminate (i.e. give a person with any protected characteristic a job over someone else, unless there are specific grounds and both candidates are equally scored in an interview process). You can promote awareness of minorities, but you can't legally award them a job over a more qualified candidate. Illegal, plain and simple. You can give preference to said person where two (or more candidates) score equally in recruiment, but you also need to prove why that should be the case. Quotas are also specific to a business or unit (based on internal stats) - they are not mandated by government. It's been recorded, though, that diverse workplaces (of equally skilled people) create better outcomes for business (usually because small cultural differences are exported to the market, therefore widening sales opportunities.

What you're referencing, generally, is unfair practice which you'll see in all areas of employment, public or private. In fact, in private circles, who you know works very well. It's similar to when people mistakenly cite H&S gone mad. H&S hasn't gone mad - it's very sensible. It's the idiots in charge who chose to misinterpret, or impose their own ideas over the actual remit of H&S.

The UK has sensible employment laws, it's the lower down minions who are usually to blame. Unfortunately, once one of them gets to the top, it's very hard to topple them, because they wont employ people more intelligent than themselves for fear of being discovered.

Well I hope they can come to some agreement soon, starting to look like eeee old days with them footage.

this dude recorded himself speeding and driving crazy in the past, it finally catches up to him and he kills a 18 yr old girl who was in another car. UK sentences him to 5 years in prison, probably serves what 2-3? this type of shit is such bs, I remember driving when I was 16 and 17 and I respected the laws. Even if I hadn't I was old enough to understand punishment system and how it worked. this is why it's only going to continue to get worse in the UK, there are no real consequences for your actions, so people feel more brazen to act like idiots - should be 10 years minimum no early release. what a joke.

Can be said about a lot of dumb fake influencers trying to do dumb things in public to see how far they can get away with.

exactly, another reason the punishments need to be increased. reap what you sow.

That's not just the council. That's every company out there, unfortunately, especially the big ones.

The difference is that Birmingham council workers are backed up by the trade union, which means they're in a position to negotiate pay and working conditions. Most other industrial workers aren't.

I agree completely. This country has been getting harder and harder to live in for honest working people, but easier and easier for a*holes.

My trip here has more or less only just begun and my laptop has completely died. First It BSOD'd and now It powers on but the fan spins at 100% and nothing else happens....

Frustrated Fainting GIF

could stand 30c ambient Temps back at home but 27c and 87% humidity was a little too much for it to take..I was just in the middle of browsing the internet aswell.

Sigh.... I invested so much extra money on building it up to be the ultimate 830 G5 aswell.

The lord giveth and the lord taketh away.

::EDIT::

Ok... NVM its back.

GORDON'S ALIVEEEEEEEEEEE

But now i dont trust it to stay alive.

I gave it a few slaps. Told it to behave and it booted up after multiple attempts.

::Edit III::

Nope. It just died again...

I went through all this with my 2070, but learned that if a piece of hardware has died, it has died, even if it doesn't always look like it. :(

Yeah. I think this laptop is on borrowed time at this stage. Ive just installed some newer (and the latest) drivers but I cant rule out that its not the 21H4 update I did last month that is messing with it.

I have two ram slots in this laptop. If it crashes again. Im going to pull one of the memory modules or switch them around and see if there is any change.

::EDIT::

Driver update seems to have calmed it down.

::EDIT III::

Yeah it's cooked. Not even windows update will install anything other than the basic display driver after removing the previous intel display drivers. However intel driver packs still work but they still crash randomly and cause issues with things that need hardware acceleration

I'm going to try stay off it.

::EDIT IV::

Laptop didnt boot this morning so popped a stick of ram out and it booted straight away. now to see if it will start behaving funny again.

Laptop is alive again. It turns out I was using an old program called WUShowHide (WindowsUpdateShowHide) that would hide certain windows updates and I hid the drivers that Windows update would force me to download even if the driver that was already installed was newer than the one being pushed.

Well Im now running a 2023 driver (31.0.101.2121) and things seemed to be running smoothly again. I had 101.2135 installed when the crashing started.

This is confusing to me as I've been running 101.2135 for a long time and all of a sudden my laptop started to randomly crash. It could have been a windows update on 24H2 that was causing problems.

Surfed the net some. Managed to sit through a few movies and still no crash.

You don't need a program for that. It's only a switch in the registry. :)

Youre forgetting that im not that smart.

I know there was a way to do it via group policy editor but thats about it. WUSHOWHide was simple and straightforward.

I was having a moment of nostalgia a few moments ago and it dawned on me, one of many things I miss about London is the shop down the street from my flat that sold wonderfully yummy custard tarts..

We just don't have those kinds of things stateside.

I’m not a born and bread Londoner but there are few things I miss about it: clotted cream, proper pubs, smell of the tube in the morning… ok I might got carried away with the last one ;)
