The TPU UK Clubhouse

I have never agreed with this analogy honestly, planes crash every month, but I am not in control of the plane. My tire pops at 65 mph on the highway, I am in control of that situation still (yes, this did happen to me, I did not panic, and immediately got over on the open side space of the highway). This analogy is also very context dependent, where sure some of your comment makes sense, for say London or Birmingham, but a small village in Shropshire, never had an issue in my life with anyone or any crime there.

For example, this guy snorted cocaine off a strippers boobs before piloting a commercial aircraft:

Also, there were 10,000 close calls in Wash. DC airport before the helicopter crashed into the jet in early January this year. How many fucking close calls do you need before you tell the military they need to do their training somewhere else? That level of incompetency baffles me.
That's what I mean... If a pilot does that, it's headline news on the Independent. If a teenage lad snorts some coke, steals a car and kills you and your passengers at 100 mph, it's just another day at the police station.

My cousin trains new pilots, and he told me that he is actually really worried about the future of aviation, the students he gets now are just very very different than in years past. I asked him, but yeah they still have to pass your course right, and he said they do pass, but they are just making more mistakes than usual so barely pass. Make of that what you will, lol
I train warehouse employees, and all I can say is that the same is happening everywhere. As companies are dropping pay, they don't realise they're also dropping in the quality of people they employ. Massively.

Make of that what you will, lol

The problem starts when you start lowering the bar and allowing people who shouldnt be in that profession INTO THAT PROFFESSION.

Standards should be set super high for a reason. 100-300+ lives are in your hands every time youre behind the stick of an aircraft.

There are less riskier industries where you can shoehorn people in and apart from money being flushed down the toilet. Nothing really bad happens. But being an airline pilot/ATC should be based on merit.

People are going to die.

Are you, perhaps, Father Christmas?
I'd gift myself some sun and warmth if so............

Yeah, Canada. Kinda wish I was there...

I do admit however, it is easy to feel there is greater risk, especially with the widespread coverage of some high profile accidents, so I understand your concern.

this do be true, and this is my main issue

try any of these?? lol
After reading that list, I'm very happy I never tried any of them.. :fear:

I disagree with no.7 Marmite. I actually happen to like it (call me weird). It has to be consumed in small doses, though.

That's the only one in that list the sounds like it would be reasonably edible..
If you haven't tried it, I guess you could imagine it as salt/savouriness overdose. Kind of like a concentrated, spreadable version of soy sauce. Toast, a thin layer of butter, and an even thinner layer of Marmite is the classic way of having it, with an optional slice of tomato. Make it part of your full English breakfast... Glorious! :)

I also had my cousins in England make me some traditional beans on toast, I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. never really understood it before, but the beans, bread, etc is all different compared to american versions. so yeah, that was nice indeed

probably not very healthy though. i really need to improve my veggie intake... i eat like im 15 still, sigh

So British version of Vegimite? I think I'll pass.. That stuff was nasty!

Oh, yeah, hard core pass!

Nah, I'll stick with Bangers & fried eggs.

That's how our Aussie friends describe it, yes. You either love it or hate it, there's nothing in between with Marmite.

Beans on toast sounds barbaric.

Introducing civilized food to the Brits.

Beans on toast is a budget staple how dare you.
Anyway...today..

There is only 2 things on that list that I would consider eating and that's the marmite and I would maybe try the Mincemeat omlette. Back in the 50's and 60's (yes I remember the 60's BUT NOT the50's :)) Bread and dripping were quite popular, I had it a couple of times (not by choice), it actually tasted OK but there was a reason why Coronary Heart Disease was a thing back in the day, in England at least ............

What is Bread and Dripping? (with picture)

And I like Beans on Toast, sometimes with some grated cheese :p

but there was a reason why Coronary Heart Disease was a thing back in the day

Its still a problem here in Hong Kong. A lot of foods are made with pig fat. Either that or diabetus because we have a high carb intake

one thing I love about Finland when I visit there is that they have something called Pulled Oats, the texture of it, etc can be manipulated in a lot of ways. for example, replacing beef with pulled oats in taco's and the right seasoning, is delicious!!! and very healthy to boot.

sadly, I can not find pulled oats in UK or USA. :(

Pulled oats is just Vegan protein but with it's own constitution/flavouring added to replace meat (for example), you can get plenty of different Vegan proteins in the UK but most of them are powdered. Vegan ready meals with protein meat substitutes just have increased constitution (along with flavouring) to try and replicate meat/mince.

I might look into it then, I don't know, pulled oats are unique though from what I understand.

Also, the taco bell in Finland lets you order a pulled oats taco (its amazing), I have made it in person and the finland taco bell one. lol

I'm just glad I can go anywhere in the world and get taco bell... mmm nacho supreme... and 1 hardshell taco to go please
