The TPU UK Clubhouse

I've only been to London about 3-4 times, but my conclusion is the same as ever: big cities aren't for me.

Where abouts in Hungary were you originally from?

From a town of about 50k people in the Eastern part of the country, where nothing ever happens.

Next question is do you own a Vizsla.
I don't, but I'm surprised someone from Alaska knows the word. Do you own one perhaps? :)

We had two of them when I was growing up (horse farm/Washington State). My soccer (football coach) was from Hungary and he sold us both of those dogs. The farm next to us had one that came out of the same litter as our second Vizsla. Those dogs would get together and run the cow pastures all day long. We never bothered to train them but they were great family dogs.

Off topic, but thanks to Netflix, Americans including myself are learning up on Chinese history. Netflix has about four or five really good series on the Qin Empire and one or two on the Han Empire. Those series are addicting.

Ive not see those myself but I will have to check them out eventually.

They're addicting. If you have a chance use wiki and read up on the Seven Kingdoms so you have a bit of background knowledge before you watch 'em.

Has anyone here ever had the battery of their G-Shock watched replaced let me know how much it cost them? Id be interested in where you got it done aswell.

A shop here just charged me £5 to do a battery replacement for my GD-100. He didnt do a proper re-sealing though so i'll ask when i go back there tomorrow.

same shop is also replacing the battery and glass on one of my other watches. £70 for a new rechargeable battery and sapphire glass.

No. I replace them myself, and only to a few of my watches since most are solar powered.
Which model are you paying £70 for?

As claylomax said, I replace them myself too.
It's cheap and easy.
For the O-ring, I haven't done anything special, just check if they were still "good".

Well for £5. I was happy to support an independent business here. (£1 = $10hkd)

I just wanted to know how much the same job would have cost me in the UK. Id probably be looking at £10-20.

Battery was a CR2025. I'll be doing the job personally the next time since any proper watertight seal is broke.

The edifice was a little tricky as I wanted new glass as well. Batteries for that are roughly £30 (CTL920)

How do you go about resealling? Do you use fresh rubber o-rings or dip the old in mineral or silicon oil to hydrate them?
I reuse the old o-rings, never dipped them in anything.
When did you get that watch? Was it second hand?
I'm asking because it's solar and was release in 2012; I have watches older than that with the battery they came in and work perfectly (one from 2005 on its original battery)

Brand new off eBay some 10-15years ago. The watch still runs but it's going into power saving a lot more even if I've left it on the windowsill on a sunny day.

The downside about this watch or older watches with the same features is there isn't a built-in battery indicator like a lot of modern citizen watches do

I've not had any of my G-shock watch batteries replaced yet but i've always had mine done at Timpsons which I signed up for their "lifetime" battery replacement service which is one off fee(price will depend on the brand) where I just show them the card + watch and they will just replace the battery when I need it.

I remember taking my Edifice solar watch down to Timpsons originally. As soon as I said it was solar. The guy behind the counter didnt even want to look at it.

Short of giving it to H.Samuel who gave me a quote of £300 or 600 for a battery swap because they needed to ship it back to Casio to do it. I was looking for a trustworthy watch specialist In the UK to do the sapphire glass upgrade along with a battery change for almost 2 years.

The only places that were trustworthy were the ones in the big city that worked on Breitling's, Rolex's, Omegas etc etc - all the stuff that Finance Bros in the city wear. I would have been laughed at and robbed if I walked in and plonked my cheap edifice on the table.

Ok.
Do you have time calibration on? The watch tries to update six times every night and if the signal reception is not good, it uses a lot of battery every time.
Maybe try turning off.

No way of turning it off. It usually does an auto sync every night between 12-2am. That wasnt the problem though as I did leave it by the window to catch some sun quite regularly. Make no mistake. I could have carried on using the watch as it was for probably another 10 more years but since I was in town anyway I decided to get it done.

Which is the most comfy little town in eastern UK?

I may come to visit there and drink all the beers from the pubs.

The snow is almost all gone here!!!!!

Rained for a while here in Finland, snow has melted a good while ago :)
I'm hoping the snow and the ice on the lakes will be totally gone in another week.............
