So, dogs are killing loads of sheep and other farm animals in the UK, and they want to use DNA testing kits to track down the animals doing it.
My guess is some of these dogs are just strays so it won't help anyway, but even in the event they are not, its not like there is exactly a large dog dna database with address location to draw from (they can't even keep track of the bully xl dog problem...) so my question is, why waste time training police and developing DNA test kits for dogs, when there are far simpler and cheaper solutions.
A) 3 solar panels in the corner of a field with a Jackery battery and a 360 degree specially designed camera with instant phone notification if it detects movement of an animal, farmer can then pop on some infrared vision goggles if its night, or sunglasses if its day, and neutralize the invasion, and save the sheep, and become hero of the farm of animals - glorious and mighty!
B) laser fence system that sends notification to phone if at a certain height only - the laser breaks contact, so the height of your average dog, that way rabbits won't trigger it.
C) bring back the old ways, and have protection dogs on site - and preferably train them to cuddle with the sheep, for the cute photo ops of it + on-site security at no extra charge! hell that beats Garda World sleeping on the job anyday!
D) I don't know, I feel like this is enough other options and cheaper than the DNA program, which I am not convinced will see results.
E) Contact your Australian/Canadian/Kiwi cousins and ask them how they protect their farm animals, since apparently 2000 years of animal husbandry the English have not figured out how yet
