Yeah I find myself doing a lot of that too with a number of games. Once, maybe twice a year I'll devote a few nights in a week to this one game. TW Warhammer 2 is another one that has taken that spot now, since 3 is... well, still pretty weak, hopefully I can add that to the list as well some day, because moar factions and different campaign.i still play shogun 2 a little bit every year, it is the best one they ever made imo.
And going back to Shogun 2 now, I think I'm inclined to agree on it being the best one. Yes, better than Warhammer, because it has its own, much more refined balance to battles. The asymmetry is cool, but far less tactical. In Shogun 2 you're struggling to find that rock vs the scissors and use it at the right time. Positioning is far more important, ability use same.
