Ok I thought so, I'm good then.

And it is around 15MB in storage for 1 50MP photo?
I haven't taken many shots using 50MP and even less so the 200MP (yup, S23U) shots. The largest I have 50MP stands at ~13MB, 200MP at ~26MB.

No idea, didn't check it. Not that I care much with a 512G unit (preorder bonus upgrade :D, but I wouldn't care even if I had a 256G one, which is S23U lesser possible option).
I do remember, though, reading complaints about how huge Android reports the S23U system partition to be, and it turns out that there's a lot of GiB/GB conversion shenanigans involved. The larger the storage, the bigger the partition appears to be to compensate the conversion (as Android wants you to believe that 512GB number). Still bloated if the numbers didn't have such compensation, though.

Okay where I live I can only buy the Exynos version locally and I seen a lot of reviewers saying they had issues having a full day on the S22 and screen time about 5-7 hours this is what I am afraid off because I use at the moment is shy of 6hours on average sometimes a lot more and my iPhone 12 Pro Max after the iOS update 16.5.1 has gotten me really good battery life again.

My thoughts are in the spoiler.
I am thinking about going android again because I am tried of the iPhone's high price tag and lack of being behind USB-C and EU's new law that's comming on easier battery replacements.

The current iPhone 14 Pro Max 128GB is like £1.118 / 1.423USD and the next 15 will properly be more even with a phone contract I am tired of buying this much for a phone.

The S22 128GB is like £461 / 587USD the 256GB model is like £496 / 631USD this is without carrier contract and an attractive price I was looking the S22+ because of the 6.5inches but not at the price tag of £795 / 1.012USD for the 128GB and 256GB model but it's more than I really want to pay.

Lost I like Samsung's 4 years version update that should be on Android 16 (If battery holds up) and 5 years security which is top I know it's not the same as the iPhone but at half the price what is there to complain about?

No sales on S23 available? It was on sale here for like, months.

5-7 hours SOT seems about right if you use the device normally (no hypermiling the battery, 120Hz). There is a big difference in efficiency between the 8 Gen 1 and 8 Gen 2 and S21/22/23 has a relatively small battery. Exynos is unimpressive even against 8 Gen 1, so unless it's incredibly cheap, I wouldn't even bother.

Don't fix what ain't broke. 12 Pro Max is still more than powerful enough. Don't expect two of the worst SoCs in recent history to be any better (8G1 and Exy2200).

I am in europe and we only got the Exynos variant and if I am gonna import it, it won't be worth it.

I don't like the camera on the back of the S23 but I do on the S22.

Phone cariers got it on sale but with their subscriptions I get the 256GB variant for less money and the carriers only got the 128GB model.

It's not about the performance, I want a solid phone and I know I will be wanted USB-C when the new iPhone launches but I won't be paying £1000+ for a smartphone this time and Samsung's Galaxy S22 with their 4 year Android update which is Android 16 and 5 years security updates is really good for the price.

Always the newest Samsung Ultra
Eww no thank you. I haven't changed iPhone for about 3 years already because it was a fine phone and design didn't really change.

I like the normal S22 and S22+ but the plus variant is too overpriced here and the regular I believe will be a good change even with's only 6.1inch screen.

i was so scared that Samsung would only carry the crappy Exynos version in India. Glad to see they kept the snap dragon one, its so much more efficient. Even with the teeny battery it gives me better life the the A51 i had

It's not about the performance. It's about the dismal efficiency and battery life, and the half-finished RDNA2 GPU that nobody optimizes for.

Samsung is no different than anyone else. By the time you actually get the update, the next Android version is nearing release.

I'm also glad this gen is a SD exclusive. It's painful watching Europe get waterboarded every year by Exynos. 8 Gen 2 is 100% worth the hype, the battery life is honestly incredible for its size.

I hear you. The difference in endurance from my former Exynos 9825 Note10 to my current SD 8G2 S23U is abyssal, truly leagues apart, further aggravated by the sheer battery capacity delta.

Make no mistake though, using the Note10 wasn't bad at all (apart from battery) and I really liked it: svelte, light, powerful, a sexy piece of tech, it truly looked like the business.

I feel like the 9825 vs SD855 matchup was one of the fairer pairings that Samsung has given itself, barring the usual Mali optimization problems in 3D load. Solid choices for the Note10.

Regular size S21/22/23 doesn't have much mAh to work with, so when SoC is garbo like last gen it really hurts. Which is all the more points in the S23's favour, pretty crazy to see it coming out on top comfortably against 8G1 (even 8+G1) phones with as much as 20% more battery capacity. Then there's the Pixel 7a that gets half the endurance out of 117% the battery :shadedshu:

Thanks bro! :D

I picked the 128GB and didn't look at the 256GB version actually at first, because I assumed it cost more ofcourse ,sadly it was not much more then the 128GB version at my provider.
Oh well I already ordered the 128GB version and it arrived today, I could get 100 EUR cash back promotion from samsung, if I had sent back my new phone and waited for my money in return and then waiting for the 256GB version to arrive I might have been too late to get the 100 EUR cash back...

Anyway, I'm fine with the 128GB version, installed my apps and updates today and that including the android 13 OS , it's only using 34,4GB (which is nice),
I have 93,6GB free storage space left for photos and more apps if I want, I mean, till today I was using a S7 with 32GB storage... So I'm good.:)
Actually the correct storage should be 119GB for a 128GB phone? Oh well...

Samsung promised 5 Year updates and 4 new android versions , I'm good upto at least 2028..:D

Thanks bro!

The main difference is that the 128GB doesn't get UFS 4.0 like all the other models do. I have a huge music library and lots of pictures, there definitely is a difference there. Still, if you just use phone for phone things, it'll be fine. I hear some preorder owners got automatically bumped up in storage, but I wouldn't know, I waited for a sale.

Yeah I found out later, it's ufs 3.1 .. Anyway it works fine for my usages.

Also found this:
Ice Universe points out that while Samsung doesn't produce a 128GB UFS 4.0 chip, a company called Kioxia does. However, Mr. Universe notes that in testing, the Kioxia chip has not been able to deliver the performance expected from UFS 4.0 chip. So as the tipster writes, "Even if it is used, the performance is not up to standard and it cannot be called UFS 4.0, so it is reasonable to use UFS 3.1 for 128GB."

Anyway I happy with it and it's a nice upgrade coming from a 2016 S7 32GB.... :)

I am just tired of iPhones costing £1000+ so considering android next time also getting usb-c and such.
Fwiw the next gen will supposedly have usb-c. I can’t imagine they won’t comply with replaceable batteries either, but that’s a few years off

Eww no thank you. I haven't changed iPhone for about 3 years already because it was a fine phone and design didn't really change.

I like the normal S22 and S22+ but the plus variant is too overpriced here and the regular I believe will be a good change even with's only 6.1inch screen.
one life and you saving :D

I am here to consume, not to cheapskate until in grave. Would always changed to the most expensive iphone too.

A couple of years yes and knowing Apple they will try to posepone and delay it. I don't get why EU doesn't have the balls to say no because if EU had to skip a generation well Apple would lose money on it so that would make them reconsider.

It's not really cheapskating you get almost same promises as Apple do they do 5 years iOS updates if the phone can do it and Samsung do 4 years on the Galaxy S line up and for half price that's not bad.

I am tired of spending the £1000+ even paying it off a little at a time to the carriers because the carriers here have bundled different services like tv channels, music, book reading and hearing with more which than ends up in £35-47 a month I know it's with Free talk, sms/mms and 1000GB data but seriously I don't need all this right now I got Free talk, sms/mms and 60GB data with 15GB data in EU for only £13,78 a month.

The same goes for internet services here bundling anti-virus software and more to raise their already bad prices :banghead:

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra - Bought about an year ago. For about 400 USD 128GB Version. Because it does have expandable storage - no problem with it. And of course has a large screen 6.9.

You should of course buy what you want, but I can’t imagine why they would risk losong such a huge market for any period of time. The usb-c mandate won’t be enforced until the end of next year and, supposedly, iPhones will have usb-c this year.

Regarding batteries, first, I think most people are confused about the law. There’s no mandate for pop-in batteries, but just batteries that are user replaceable by a “layman” and can be done so with common tools or specialty tools that are available for retail. All Apple has to do is get rid of the glue, otherwise they are in compliance, especially if the (regular) 14 is any indication of future designs.

Moreover, Apple kind of gets a bad rap in terms of repairability. Sure, soldered parts and glue are bad, but almost all devices that prefer form over function do. Apple is no savior in terms of right to repair but they are so far complying with all laws that have been passed, even by individual us states, before enforcement happens.

Just want to emphasize that kind of again before I get dumped on. Apple makes all sorts of poor design choices in the name of portability and aesthetics, particularly in terms of their computers with soldered ram and ssds and often underwhelming cooling. But, except for those situations you need a hair dryer, I haven’t found them to be much worse to repair than any other manufacturer (admittedly have never touched a fair phone or element laptop, and it’s been awhile since I’ve seen a Clevo or that other OEM).

For me it costs 13e/month, unlimited everything and 26GB roaming data included monthly. 4G is able to reach speeds of 600M, seen about 450/70 often. Yes I am stupid, paying 25,90m for 1000M fiber at home. Used to share connection for PC thru USB... mby I will return to old habits and use the money for some flights instead, 26e×12 is often 4x 2way flights Turkey/Greece/Spain/Canary Islands/etc
