What's your latest tech purchase?

Do you need active? The "blue cube" USB adapters work wonders for IBM Model M's, as well as pretty much any PS/2 keyboard. Unfortunately they seem to be out of production. Look like this:

Not sure to be honest, I'm not entirely clear as to when you need one and when you don't.

Ain't no way I am spendning this much on a coffee machine....perhaps because I don't really drink coffee, but still :)

I don't either. I never could get past the bitterness. I just took to consuming caffeine straight.

My AM4 system went from a 3500X to this!

Happy New Year ya'all!

2.5" hard drive enclosure for time-machine backups (I already have a spare 500GB drive), I really wanted the USB C connection rather than USB Micro-B.

I bought a Lian Li A3 black and woodgrain. A full build next year (probably).

Really like how this case looks but am not so sure having the front ports so low is practical.
I'll throw it in the desk drawer and use usb cable extenders and power button extender. Like the one below so I never have to touch the tower.

Trying out these new Creative Pebble Nova speakers. Setup was easy enough. Sounds good initially.
The Nova speakers sound really nice. They have enough bass in them the subwoofer in the floor isn't necessary. They need a lot of room. They are partially blocked behind my monitor so I have to do something different. We'll see long term now if they were worth $229.00. I do like my Katana V2 sound on the flight sim. My only complaint is it 's slow to respond to sound input from standby power. Sound is great

Don't hate me but I was weighing the pro and con in buying a 4070ti/4080 super now with a nice super long 0% interest Vs 5070ti/5080 later in the year but I don't think the price difference can be justified.
Which the price difference was like
£800-£1000(40 series) Vs potentially £1000-£1800(50 series)

Picked up a zotac 4080 super on a super long 0% interest(I'll be paying that off sooner regardless) + 2TB Corsair Nvme drive as the 500GB WD Blue in the living room PC was getting full.
The 4080 super is replacing the 3080

Also bought another watch for Christmas.

Won't see these prices again , at least for awhile, installing today !

I didnt particularly want to get this but I plugged in my 1TB Samsung M3 Portable in earlier today and it was completely dead.

Cracked the case open to see if I could take the drive out and put it into an enclosure as I have two empty ones. Only to find out that the drive itself only has no other physical interface other than the USB Micro B port to hook it up to the computer... Great job Samsung.

I dont have any sizable storage that I can use to start loading up movies to for my 2 months away from home. This will go into an SABRENT M.2 NVMe Enclosure for the time being then get transfered to my laptop when the trip is done.

Nvidia's mass psychosis has their consumer base buying 1000 pound graphic cards on credit, but it's ok, it's 0% lol.

Do yourself a favor; return it. You have no business buying such trivial things with money you don't have, from a 3080 that has no problem playing games.

I recently acquired a 5800x for a insane price that's open box. I wasn't planning on upgrading from the 5600x anytime soon but I wasn't passing up the potentially amazing deal. Gonna retire the 5600x to an older system for the rest of the household to use. Will attach picture later.

What a pain not using the standard connector.

What a pain not using the standard connector.
That is what made those Seagate Expansion drives so good years ago. The USB inerface was flaky but the drive was a regular SATA.

I think around the time that I bought it. A lot of people were buying external drives and shucking them because they were cheaper than the drives intended to be used internally. This was obviously made this way to put an end to that.

Nah man, this is a (toxic) BS free thread.

@kurosagi01 ROCK that 4080!!!

It all comes down to whether the keyboard can also speak USB, or if it's totally native PS/2. Age usually determines this.

To replace a SF750 I bought in 2020.

Now I'll be ready for my 5090.

Should be able to reuse my custom cables as outputs are same as on the SF750, i.e GPU power from 2x 8 pin. Will get a new cable when 5090 arrives, as my 3080 ti has the older style 12 pin.
