What's your latest tech purchase?

Last edited:
Kryosheet is for the CPU, not VRAM.

A most valid point

My latest project is building a white gaming build, since I have a white Intel B580. All prices include tax & shipping.

What has arrived (Aliexpress):
Huananzhi B760m-D4 motherboard $55
i5 12400f $97
VC-003 pro GPU sag bracket $5 (I thought I ordered the white bracket - I got an RGB bracket but if I don't plug in the 4pin cable it stays white)

What is currently inbound (Aliexpress)
Aigo 275P Sea View PC case - $31
Kllisere 32gb ram - $40
Teucer PSU extension cables - $17

Some things are more expensive on Aliexpress than Amazon, so
Silicon Power 512gb NVMe $31 (Amazon)

Still to order:
Thermalrite Assassin X120 fan - $20
Thermalright TL-C12CW CPU Fan (x3) - $22

Still deciding on a PSU, since EVGA seems to be shutting down.

Looks like the entire build will be just under $700 - with the B580 ($307 being the most expensive component.)

Why the hell can't they machine things so one does not need to squish stuff in?
Because everyone does things a slightly different way and BGA chips never mount at the exact same height on the PCB they're attached to due to variations in solder and application variables.

EDIT: Video cards used to have physically separate heatsinks for the GPU die and VRAM dies. It was really a great time as the solutions were a bit easier. These days, the tolerances require the thermal contact pads to be flexible, IE a bit squishy.

ust got a galaxy s20 plus!! 200 was my budget so this was the best thing

Needed 5g since 4g has been really bad here after the blizzard in January...

Needed either SD card or 256 storage n 6.6in display or bigger and Samsung.

Sucks this one doesn't have screen protector on it since it was "Amazon renewed"

So I bought a screen protector for it.. well be here 2 days

first mech kb

Electronic/contact spray cleaner in the actuators/pads didn't help?
sticky as in the plastic is sticky, i greased it with silicon lube after cleaning it with IPA. i also saw a lot of cracks lol, and the space bar broke in two. This kb is around 3 years old. Nothing worked. so i am like fuck it.

Another Samsung 990 Pro 1TB. For $104 after taxes plus free delivery later this afternoon from Amazon I couldn't turn it down. I'm doing a parts shuffle upgrading two PC's and needed a Gen 4 NVMe drive for one of them.

Nice router choice! That entire line is very solid. Great security, excellent network management options and yet not over complicated.

Most of the LEDs on the RT-AX58U V2 were not working, and this seems to be a common issue with this version.

I suspected a firmware issue but when I resoldered the LEDs they all came back to life.

- GPU clock max boost: 1850MHz

Card tested with Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition:

8600G+DeskMini x600 for my summer pc upgrade. I have borrowed(from work) 2x8GB 5600MHz Hynix A-die RAM sticks and I stole Lexar NM790 1TB from my another computer. I will upgrade to more ram and another SSD later, when I have money for it. Those borrowed RAM sticks were not in use, because computer where they came from was upgraded to 2x32GB 5600MHz ram.

There was also 2x8GB Samsung sticks. I don't remember what speed, but they were slower speed.

Felt like moving to a single chipset solution seeing as I'm on ITX anyway and it's less heat/latency.

"Old" X670E-I board will go into a client build whose work is paying for it, so basically free upgrade. This one has CMOS button which is nice, FHD BIOS and other minor improvements to PCIE and M.2 mounting hardware along with a networking update.

We'll see if I can push my RAM further.

It's not new tech, but I'm always on the hunt for VCRs, so I just acquired these three which have been gathering dust in someone's attic for Lord knows how long. I always need backups for the two that still work as I have a decent turnover for digitalisation work.
However, I'm not overly optimistic about these three.

We've had one of this Philips VHS reader, very close to the model shown on the photo !
The Sony is a French model, I see Canal + and Nicam on it ?

New kb came in. I guess its the F87 Pro even though the listing didnt mention it. I like the not so noisy keys. They are Leobog Space Crystal. 35g force low actuation stroke.

A Fiio E10k-TC amp/dac for my headphones
