I've got a pre-release build of 24H2 and I think I'll be keeping that, unless the release build of IoT Enterprise also lacks the Recall bullshit, which this one does.

Zero issues.

It does not have:

- Microsoft Store (can be installed)
- Xbox Game Bar
- Copilot and Recall
- Modern apps (paint, calculator and notepad are still the Windows 7 one, for example)
- Lock on feature configuration - you can setup Windows Update, Telemetry, etc. all to your taste

I have not run into software compatibility issues in the almost ~1y i'm using it

Today, I agree, it is not media sensationalism. It is you, taking yet another opportunist, totally off-topic, bash at Microsoft. :( This thread is about a Windows 11 update.

If you are on windows 11, will/do you install 24H2? I have seen there a certain problems with it, so do you just stick to 23H2?
i was having issues with non-official ltsc 24h2, final 24h2 ltsc is stable as hell, highly recommend, updated 2 pcs with it and clean installed another 2.

Yeah, I started this line of conversation didn't I? Oh wait I was actually defending Microsoft with my comments about how RTM is worse than THIS on topic update someone said had a "keylogger". Then it spiraled out of hand on semantics that arguably don't matter.

It was back then.
The article actually supports my claims and basically argues they'll be removed when W10 is RTM and that its normal for a beta to selectively log keystrokes. That was true at the time. They were not removed at RTM however. Why are we talking in circles? Facts matter so I won't be accused of lying or sensationalism when all I did was state history. The latest update has it removed. Thats all that should matter.

I am not an MS basher.

Bill... I got nothing. I'm out.

No it doesn't. A true keylogger is malware. As noted by ZDNet, a keylogger is a surveillance tool that indiscriminately collects every keystroke on a PC and transmits it (usually surreptitiously) to a remote location. It is used specifically to capture login credentials like userids and passwords, account numbers and other personally identifying information and send that data to bad guys with the intent of using such information for malicious, nefarious, criminal activities.

The option to opt out was not provided because of what information was being collected. It was provided because of all the bad PR all the "media sensationalism" the viral reports created. I also note Microsoft admitted there was the possibility, slim though it was, it might inadvertently disclose some collected data.

Should, MS from the start have made it an "opt-in" feature instead of "opt-out"? Of course!!!!!!!! I never suggested otherwise.

However...
I am not an MS basher.
Yeah right. And yet, once again, this thread is about an update for Windows 11.

That's only on SecureCore PCs I think, like certain notebooks.

I would say it is pretty rare with most home users
It's uncommon, but I do built such systems from time to time. This is one of the many reasons I detest the microsoft account requirement crap. There are a number of people that want a PC that will, at all times, remain offline and there are many reasons for such needs.

I think we've established the versions of Windows available to the general public do not have keyloggers because such would be effectively HIGHLY unlawful.

That said and returning to topic, 24H2 does not have any keylogger functionality built into it.

I have upgraded 2 of my system to 24h2, my Ryzen and my Fx8350 system. Both are working flawlessly. Only thing i see is the fx rig takes about 10 or so my seconds to boot then it did with 23h2. But that system hasn't had a fresh install of Windows since win 8 when it was built. It has been upgrade over upgrades. lol.

Found this on Twitter, and that is a little disturbing, if right:
"Microsoft's latest update for Windows 11 (with Copilot+) includes a feature called "Recall" that you might want to disable. The Recall records everything you do. This means it stores information like your passwords, browsing history, images, videos, messages, and emails."

How to disable:
Dism /Online /Disable-Feature /Featurename:Recall

They heavily backpedaled on Recall because of all the backlash.

Uhhh thats not good. Especially for none OS drives. Id be pissed if all my data became encrypted. Good thing I have backups elsewhere.

I found about it doing that i first installed it in a VM to use ADK to build the 24H2 ISO (wim) i need, this fool encrypted a drive i had added (non-OS) that was shared with another VM (writethrough) and it messed the drive as hell i had to deactivate 3 times BitLocker bc i booter with the other VM with the drive attached (Win7 btw).
It never happened to me to encounter BitLocker activated since it exists !

Well, Rufus disables TPM that disables BitLocker and my true PC didn't biten by BitLocker.

24H2 looks to have broke Denuvo cracked games, somehow.

If you are on windows 11, will/do you install 24H2? I have seen there a certain problems with it, so do you just stick to 23H2?
I think you should wait until Microsoft offers it to you automatically. If you use your computer to work, do your research in case some software you use has problem with 24H2 (compatibility shouldn't be affected at all but... a little caution is not a bad thing).

There might be some issue if your machine doesn't comply with Windows' minimum CPU requirements (POPCNT instruction not supported in processors without SSE 4.2, IIRC), in which case forget about updating to newer Windows 11 versions.

Usual recommendations apply. Keep your important data properly backed up, etc.

Other than that, if Windows is installing the update automatically, I say to let it happen.
FYI it automatically enables bitlocker on almost all drives. make sure to disable that ransomware.
About this... it should be OEM only. But making sure it didn't do that costs nothing. Then again, all Windows installs I've ever done are not OEM-based so I guess that's a DIY advantage.

Looks like I'm on 23H2 on my both machines and doesn't offer 24H2 from Windows update.
I still have 23H2 on my daily-driver, but I did update the chipset drivers and I got the latest Adrenalin now, at 24.10.1.

Another build I have that's from components that I got from the early-pandemic, has 24H2, set to the Release Preview channel to get fixes sooner, because 24H2's first patch-Tuesday, was a botch-Tuesday for sure! So that means everyone needs to skip '2033 and go to '2152, which is a release-preview update that stomps on the big bug that the last two updates had!

24H2 is on the following hardware:

ASRock A320M/ac

Ryzen 7 3700X

16 GB of DDR4 SDRAM (2x8GB) (AData)

Samsung 970 Evo Plus 250 GB NVMe SSD

for ARL this update kinda solves a few things, aside from those, anybody here noticed any significant performance gains on gaming?

About this... it should be OEM only. But making sure it didn't do that costs nothing. Then again, all Windows installs I've ever done are not OEM-based so I guess that's a DIY advantage.
It is on every 24H2 installation.

I haven't gotten the Win11 24H2 yet. Is this perhaps because I use Win11 with TPM disabled?
