I was trying to ditch iOS beta on my 14 Pro, threw it into DFU mode, got the software extracted and it had just started to load when iTunes crashed. It did that on my machine for about a half hour before I gave up and booted my son of his win 11 box. Same thing. iTunes is broken on 11 lol.

Last ditch effort before going to the Apple store, I installed 10. No problems. Even my games are running better.. I might have to dual boot for a comparo.

24H2 was working well for me outside of that.

For Windows 11, try the Apple Devices App from the Microsoft Store. There's also an Apple Music App there if you want a better native app instead of iTunes.

Oh I get it. :D It seems like I've been in that mode with all my hardware since, oh, April of this year. I can't seem to do anything right.

If you try 11 again, and they may even work on 10, the apps are worth checking out. Devices is backwards compatible so if you used iTunes to backup your phone, it works with Devices as well.

I have two 990 pro ssds in gen 4 4x4 mode. Before 24H2 copying a 75gb movie would be fast. Now my write speed is capped at 2gb/sec. Something is slowing it down. This is on a fresh install. Anyone else having slow write speeds in 24H2?

Has anyone seen this version of windows yet? Win11 Iot Enterprise... Does not require a fix, will install on any computer basically. 10 years support. 90 day trial available.
Can be purchased for as little as 198. And no, I don't recommend windows to anyone, but this one ain't bad. Also far less bloat and tracking crap:

Where? Certainly not from microsoft. You don't want to hear what they quote (quantity is involved).

FWIW it's been out for months now and I've been using it on a select 10 "bullshitfree" servers and workstations accordingly, my own machine included.

iTunes works just fine on Windows 11. You might have run into a bug, though. Apple recently updated iTunes, make sure you have 12.13.3.2 installed.

What Windows 11 24H2 changes is that it has Local Security Authority protection enabled by default. This will crash the Apple Bonjour service (as Windows will block mdnsdsp.dll), although this shouldn't be present unless you have older software like QuickTime installed for whatever reason.

It's parts of the kernel. You aren't going to get around the new requirements easily. Sorry.

Bare minimum 1500unit purchase. I looked into it.
Yes. Greymarket split up KMS keys are the only way to get smaller quantities and I am very much debating if that is even worth it.

I did try it (Enterprise) and I bought a stupid cheap Win 11 Pro key cause it's the same thing after all.
Just configure the windows firewall to not let the traffic going without your consent (you are supposed to remove everything which is green before doing it xD) or get a decent firewall and you are (not) good. No. You can't be good with so many things going through svchost.exe xD

I wish I can discover a good Linux distro but none exist yet. (YET !)

@theFOoL
You’ve been asking this question and trying to run this experiment since the first time the new 24H2 launched - the answer hasn’t changed. You can’t trick a LITERALLY different kernel version into booting on hardware it specifically has no support for. It doesn’t work. And never will. I know people have been huffing copium ever since the POPCNT requirement was announced, but it’s not some “one weird trick” by MS that is in practice just a single file or text doc line away from being defeated. It’s an actual, proven change to how kernel initializes.

In fact, microsoft is late to the party on this one. Linux(and everything based on it) made this transition a couple years ago. Apple did the same before that.

The short story is this: If someone has a PC based on a CPU older than Ryzen(AMD) or first Gen Core iX, the options will be Win11 IoT OR be stuck with 23H2 until support ends.

Mixing things up a tad there, Lex. 11 IOT doesn’t have the “supported CPU list” restriction, sure, but it’s still 24H2 kernel, so anything without POPCNT won’t boot either.

Edit: And yes, as you said, first gen Core iX (so Nehalem) on Intel and on AMD TECHNICALLY Barcelona and up (so K10 onward) already have the instructions, although in practical terms yeah, I wouldn’t go for anything pre-Zen.

I don't think that is correct. IIRC Intel is still producing CPU's without POPCNT specifically for IoT type devices. Can't remember where I read it, but I'm reasonably certain that it's a thing. Will concede to the possibility that I misunderstood.. Still, everyone should be on more modern hardware at this point as a daily driver type situation and should relegate older hardware to off-line retro computing duties.

I decided to give 24H2 a try on a clean install on a spare drive. Everything works fine except when I try to sign in on Outlook work mail through Firefox. I can sign in on outlook on any other browser just fine, but for some reason 24H2 borked it for Outlook signing in. Just gets stuck in a loop. I even tried turning off ublock origin and no luck. Weird. Can anyone repeat this to see if its just me? Try firefox on 24H2, with ublock origin, and try logging into outlook mail, official website, not an extension.

Other than that I have no issues with it other than I still prefer Mint Cinnamon.

Will concede to the possibility that I misunderstood.. Still, everyone should be on more modern hardware at this point as a daily driver type situation and should relegate older hardware to off-line retro computing duties.
Umm I updated but had to use my back up bc it just kept rebooting after the reboot after it was done installing the update from the USB I created
