i havent gotten the modded bios yet, and i'm not risking moddin3g 3the bios and f*cking it up :p so if someone could mod the bios, and if i can flash it to the card (preferably without bricking it)

i have noticed that some sapphire or powercolor cards have a green sticker on the back naming them "GTO" (i have it too)

Bios to try

I want to try with my Sapphire X1900GT

Overclocked to 650 Core and 725 memory with ATI CCC and it goes OK (watercoled).

ATI Tool says is a R580LE

GB_PIPE_SELECT: 0x6E4B

and my bios extracted with ati winflash.

Thanks

ATI Branded 1900gt
GB_Pipes = 0x6E4B
Devide ID 724B

Might be a longshot, but Im willing to roll the dice for more pipes. :)

Most probably you will remain with 12 pipes with these GB_PIPE_SELECT values but you can try. Here it is moded to 16 pipes BIOS.
Try with: atiflash -f -p 0 1900gt16.rom and with: atiflash -f -p -newbios 0 1900gt16.rom (in DOS mode)

Success

doing it yourself isn't hard at all...

1.) Download HXD Hex editor from here http://mh-nexus.de/HxD.htm#whatsnew

2.) At line 00000070 find the key "19". Change it to "18"

3.) Save As> "New.rom"

4.) Open new.rom with RaBiT2.1 found at http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/283
*You will get an error "Bad bios?" > Click yes and continue working on it

5.) Under "features" tab, change voltage to 1.2125

6.) Save As > New.rom > Yes to replace

7.) RE-OPEN new.rom with RaBiT2.1. Under features tab set voltage up by 10%. You can save the bios and reopen it to apply more voltage but its best to test the bios before adding more juice.

To edit your own bios to be read as 16 pipes.

Look guys, if you card doesn't mod to 16 pipes its because the remaining four pipes suck and are broken. I would think it's best to go back to your origional if your limited to 12 pipes...

do at your own risk! WooOOOoooOO

No chance for me :shadedshu

Using my HIS X1900GT R580LE (0x724B) GB_PIPE_SELECT = 0xAD4E

The pipelines remains at 12 .

Thanks for the HowTo Chron !

No... it is probably because we haven't figured it out yet. The 18/19 bit switch worked on the cards with the beta cores, probably because they used some of the same PCB architecture as the X1800GTO. The bios has been updated and it is not necessarily the same bit that unlocks the pipes.

Keep posting your fuse data and maybe Wiz can help us.

Oh thats cool.. Hey why doesn't this work: Take an X1900XTX bios and open it with RaBiT2.1, change memory size to 256 and change the memory timings to the same on your gt bios...

And that's precisely why it worked on my X1900GT. My core was an Eng Sample. :D

then the probability of finding one that unlocks now is slim to none...

Tofu, how much can you overclock yours? Go get yourself a VF1-Plus and a case fan for the vregulators and see what 1.55V can do. If the core is fine and you get that vga cooler I bet you could hit 775 easily.

Hi.

My X1900GT is still in the ATI place. Haven't heard from them since the day I brought it back to RMA. Before the ATITool GT Edition was released, I was overclocking on stock voltages; it hit 675 core 702 mem (12pipes), 625 core 702 mem (16pipes). My memory clock would have gone much farther if I had voltage control. As you probably know, VGPU limits memory clocks if it is too low, not enough juice goes to the ring bus mem controller for those crazy clocks.

Yes I bet I could hit 775 easily if I was on 12 pipes, not 16.

Open your bios up with RaBiT 2.1. Under clocks tab you'll be able to change voltages. Raise it by 10%, save it, then flash it. If you put a fan on the vregulators like I did with my x1800, running 1.55V is possible.

RaBiT doesn't let you change the voltage by more than 10% at a time so you'll need to save the bios, open and apply an extra 10% if you need more juice.

BTW, where did you get your card?
