Those who don't have to much just have to pay if they want to have a little fun in there life
Except you don't have to pay. Nothing says you MUST buy the Premium plan. You can just go get a cup of coffee or hit the head when an ad comes on - just like we do now with free broadcast TV or even cable TV (which is hardly free) when a commercial comes on.
I understand what you are saying but it is not about those who don't have too much or those who have more than they will ever need. It is about a business being paid for a product or service they provide.
Would you walk in to McDonalds and say, "gimme a Big Mac" and expect them to just give it to you? And if they didn't would you go tell all your friends McDonalds is just a money hungry bastard?
Depending on the source you believe,
YouTube has ~2,800 employees. We have to assume these employees have bills, rent, need to eat. Many surely have families they need to support. How is any company going to pay their employees without some means of earning revenue.
I see this from both sides. I am a consumer, and far from being a rich consumer. I sure don't want to be ripped off by corporate greed. But I also ran my own electronics repair and IT consulting business for years. I needed my company to make money to pay my overhead expenses, to make a living so I could support my family and pay my bills,
AND so I could make payroll and pay my employees from the income we made providing our services.
You would be amazed if you knew how many people came in, almost
on a daily basis, asking us how to troubleshoot their computers or repair this or that electronics problem -
expecting us to just give our expertise (and business and source of revenue) away
for free.
Again, would you just walk into Burger King and demand free Whoppers? Or go into Walmart and demand free toys then complain that Burger King and Walmart are greedy if they did not give you free handouts?
