  • zalman 9500cpu cooler
  • vantec 3 fan fan controller
Performed Mods:
I painted the inside and back of case a flat black. replaced thermal compound on chipset and sb coolers with ceramique t o improve cooling. I remove the stock fans and got some higher rpm and bright blue led fans for front and side. 9500 and cpu are both lapped. I get about 32c idle and 45 load at 1.5v at 3.35Ghz.
Basically a last attempt to stay in the am2/amd area before i lose faith in amd and go to intel. I must say it's quite a rig i get about 91-100 fps in cod4 multiplayer at max settings 1280x1024. I kinda owe it to the TPU forum browsers as the 5000 be was a christmas present that my gf got because she asked you guys and you guys helped her out, so for that i thank you all.

Thanx guys, yeah she's a keeper, i should'a put a pic of her up here as the reason for my recent successes being mainly 26 hours of cod4 in the last 3 days lawl. I would like some feedback on the case and general performance as well. I've scored a 11k 3dmark, 16.7k 3dmark05, and about 134-135 aq3.

my current overclock is as stated but with an htt of 1195-yes it's stable, just a small voltage increase that's all.

the cpu idles 32 and loads about 48-55 depending on room temp
the nb is about 30 all the time
mcp sb is 30 all the time
8800 goes from 47 idle to about 60 load on stock cooling.

anything that may help out the cause is welcome please bash it if you have to just help me improve.

i can post at 3.5 and even bench at that but i can't run it stable at that for the life of me it just won't do it. I can't throw any more voltage at it either seems to be the limit for the chip which seems about right given the reviews

you tried pushing the multi higher? 16X220 maybe?

multi.

yeah i tried see the problem is my mem does 1066 at 5,5,5,15, 2t, and my cpu does 3.35 stable
so i couldn't get the mem to run at 1066 because i could reach a clock high enough and no matter what divider i use i need to have mem that will do in the 1120 range, i'm considering buying a kit of tracer 1066 mem and using that so i can get the higher clocks. my corsair is d9 chips but they don't clock as high as crucial's. the cpu does a great job at 3.35 and i wish i could go higher but i fear i may need some better cooling at 3.5 i can post run about 10 mins of orthos cpu stress test but i gotta get it 1.56v and it hits about 68 almost instantly and that's not cool:no pun intended.

hmm yeah thats no fun have you tried just dropping back the ram and tightening the timings like 800mhz @4-4-4-12?

well that's the thing as of right now i've kinda found a sweetspot for it, albeit with a little less core then i wish i had, but 960 at 4,4,4, 15 is giving me a stable 10gigs a sec read/right/copy bandwidth at 42.4 latency. which is just not bad, i mean i wish i could be little fasterd but at 4.4.4.15 that's as fast as the mem goes 5,5,5,15 gets me to almost 1100 but not over which i need 1120 to get my next memory speed i'd like for the same cpu core of 3350

I voted 5/10 because:

good airflow management big plus but, beige on black looks horrid plus you have the same case as everyone else that posts here! -2 from me 5/10

well there are pics from the inside, and yes i'll take the hit for the beige on black sorry didnt' have any other drives on me in black, but not everybody has the 900 and i don't think i deserve a 5 for that, pretty gay man

Amazing CPU overclock at an amazing temperature. The CNPS 9500 looks huge from this angle.

I'll give you 9.9/10 for making the best possible use of available resources.

Yeah the ventilator fan on top of the Nine Hundred is a plus. It compliments the CNPS 9500 that's blowing hot-air upwards.

All in all, a sweet and powerful AMD rig.

Viper2I vote 6/10

I like the Antec 900 cases, only thing that i can think of that would get you a better vote is using black dvd drives instead of the beige ones, maybe take the stickers off on the side there im not sure, does the antec 900 get dusty with the 200mm fan ontop, i cant really tell but by the looks ur room seams pretty tidy so it shouldnt get too dusty as others sometimes do. Nice work and quit smoking so ya have more moeny to put towards ur pc :D:D:D
You must be autistic or soemthing to be able to spot that O_o...

(6/10, fairly good, but need some improvement in the cabling; its not very neat)

Gonna post a 9 to counteract those low scores.

Quit ragging on the guy for buying a great case. There is nothing wrong with the antec900, it offers superb cooling, so why penalize him for that?

Only reason it wasn't a 10 was because of the beige drives. Nice rig.

thanx

the speakers are some altec lansing desktop's that i picked up from comp for 10 bucks after they came out with the going out of business sale. the model number is vs2420. check em out they really aren't a bed pair of 2.0's for the desk. i got a nice headset for the good sound, this is just nice if i want to hear someone else.

just a small update, added an lcd fan controller and display to the case, and rotated the 9500 90 degrees to make it blow out the back instead of top

Hmmm..

I have my 9500 blowing down towards the bottom of my case right now. Would it have more benefit you think to blow it out the back? I guess I would face the fan towards the front of the case then?

Thanx for the comment, and yes the be is treating me very well, about to go to water or tec here in the next month "tax season baby" so i'll where she goes from there, as for the 9500 it's by far one of the best you can get for air coolers. if you've got it facing down then it's going the entirely wrong way. mine was up as you can see in a couple of the pics but as a test because i moved the fan's up a couple slots(thank you for this feature on the 900), i could blow a fan directly over the memory and also into the front of the fan if it blew out the back. I'm not a big stickler on noise so my panaflow sucks practically any hot hair out of the back of the case. Turn that sucker around so that it faces the right way.

great rig

So I take it your faith is restored in AMD? I also have a 5000BE and couldn't be more impressed. I like your machine's specs and the look is nice and clean. I myself need to move into something bigger and really need to work on cable management. So since yours looks better right now I can only give you a 6.....Okay an 8! I do have to dock you for the drive face plate. Match it up and you get a 9.
