The Radeon X800 XL was a performance-segment graphics card by ATI, launched on December 1st, 2004. Built on the 110 nm process, and based on the R430 graphics processor, in its R430 XL variant, the card supports DirectX 9.0b. Since Radeon X800 XL does not support DirectX 11 or DirectX 12, it might not be able to run all the latest games. The R430 graphics processor is an average sized chip with a die area of 240 mm² and 160 million transistors. It features 16 pixel shaders and 6 vertex shaders, 16 texture mapping units, and 16 ROPs. Due to the lack of unified shaders you will not be able to run recent games at all (which require unified shader/DX10+ support). ATI has paired 256 MB GDDR3 memory with the Radeon X800 XL, which are connected using a 256-bit memory interface. The GPU is operating at a frequency of 400 MHz, memory is running at 490 MHz.
Being a single-slot card, the ATI Radeon X800 XL draws power from 1x 6-pin power connector, with power draw rated at 49 W maximum. Display outputs include: 2x DVI, 1x S-Video. Radeon X800 XL is connected to the rest of the system using a PCI-Express 1.0 x16 interface. Its price at launch was 349 US Dollars.
