Razer, the leading global lifestyle brand for gamers, today announced the new Barracuda and Barracuda Pro, along with a refresh of the existing Barracuda X. The new family of street-styled gaming headsets comes packed with cutting edge technologies to bring gamers the purest sound whether at home or out and about. Featuring Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation Technology (ANC) the Barracuda Pro provides the user with an uninterrupted audio experience in all surroundings, ideal for intense gaming sessions requiring maximum focus, as well as for anyone wanting to enjoy their music outdoors while muting any distractions from the outside world.

xMEMS Microspeakers Should Start to Arrive in Headphones Later This Year

MEMS or microelectromechanical systems have been around for some time and the technology has allowed for the miniaturisation of a wide range of things. If you're not familiar with MEMS, then the quick version is that it's a way of making movable parts out of the same type silicon used to make semiconductors out of, in the same kind of fabs. xMEMS is a company that has specialised in making what the company calls microspeakers using MEMS technology and the first headphones based on its microspeakers should arrive later this year. The company was demoing a 3D printed mockup together with an OEM manufacturer called Vencer at Computex and we got some hands and ear on time with them.

The 3D printed units aren't what you'd call amazing looking and the fit was far from perfect, especially as the foam eartips that were installed didn't form a proper seal for yours truly. As such it was impossible to make any kind of sound quality judgement on the show floor, but it would appear that MEMS earphones share a lot with balanced armatures, in that a good seal is needed for them to sound good. The demo unit connected via USB-C and what's not in the picture, was a rather big and unsightly three button control unit on the cord, which also contained a CX31988 audio codec from Synaptics. One interesting aspect of MEMS speakers is that they can be used in both open and closed modes, where the open mode would be used for things like having phone calls or instead of enabling ambient mode on ANC type earbuds. The closed mode would work like a normal pair of driver units inside your earbuds. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for a final product to arrive and put it through its paces, but we weren't given any indication on when retail products could be available, beyond sometime later this year.

SteelSeries Launches the Arctis Nova Pro-series of Headsets

SteelSeries has released a pair of new headsets that builds on its well known Arctis-series, but brings with it a much more modern and premium looking design. Besides the overhaul of the design, SteelSeries has added support for 360 degree spatial audio and the company has also updated its GameDac, which is built around the ESS Sabre 9218PQ40 Quad-DAC. Other new features include an "AI-powered" noise cancelling microphone and a new headband design that's meant to be more comfortable. The wired Arctis Nova Pro comes in a PC and Xbox version, both sporting multi-system connect with dual USB inputs, although 3.5 mm jack input is also supported. A nice touch is that the ear pads are attached with magnets and should as such be easy to replace.

The Arctis Nova Pro Wireless on the other hand comes in three different versions, with a dedicated Xbox and Playstation version, as well as a PC version. Here, SteelSeries has also added active noise cancelling, which is not a feature you find on many gaming headsets. The ANC is using a 4 microphone hybrid system and has support for transparency mode. SteelSeries has replaced the GameDac with a wireless base station for the three wireless versions, which also charges the batteries, as SteelSeries has gone for user swappable battery packs. A 15 minute charge gives you three hours of usage, and a fully charged battery is good for up to 44 hours. Interestingly there's also an eight second power buffer, which allows you to hot swap the batteries, if you're fast. The wireless side of things consists of a proprietary low latency 2.4 GHz radio, as often is the case for wireless gaming headsets, as well as Bluetooth 5.0 support. There's support for simultaneous use of both wireless standards, which is a nice touch and something we've seen from a couple of SteelSeries competitors. The Arctis Nova Pro has an MSRP of US$249.99, with the wireless version costing US$349.99.

Ugreen Launches New HiTune T3 Earbuds Globally

Today, Ugreen is announcing the global release of the HiTune T3 true wireless ANC earbuds. Before their international launch, the T3 earbuds were trialed in the UK market where they were received positive reviews. During the international release, Ugreen will be releasing a second color option for the T3 earbuds. Previously, the earbuds were only available in white, but they will now also be available in black. The black version of the T3 earbuds will maintain the same sleek form factor and provide the same high-quality audio.

The T3 earbuds feature 10 mm PU+Wool composite dynamic drivers, which offer punchy and dynamic bass without sacrificing mid and high tones. In addition, they offer feed-forward ANC which can reduce ambient noise by 25 dB. This is a proprietary system developed by the HiTune Acoustics Lab. The ANC doesn't produce inner ear pressure, so listeners can spend hours comfortably enjoying their music. The T3 earbuds also feature the Real Voice 4.0 environmental noise cancellation system, which effectively filters out 90% of external noise. HiTune T3 earbuds were launched in February on Amazon with a recommended retail price of $35.99/£35.99.

Sennheiser introduces the MOMENTUM True Wireless 3 - redefining the limits of possibility

The multi-award-winning MOMENTUM series from Sennheiser introduces a new member to the family. The MOMENTUM True Wireless 3 sets new standards when it comes to sound quality, adaptive noise cancellation (ANC), and wearing comfort. Encased in a design that was defined using high-quality materials and precise workmanship, the earbuds offer a range of technologies and features that take the listening experience to a new level. "Our MOMENTUM series continuously succeeds in redefining the boundaries of possibility," said Frank Foppe, Sennheiser True Wireless Product Manager. "The MOMENTUM True Wireless 3 builds on a powerful heritage. With the Sennheiser Signature Sound, TrueResponse technology, next-level adaptive noise cancellation and an even better fit, these earbuds are the natural successor of the MOMENTUM series."

Just like its predecessors, the MOMENTUM True Wireless 3 delivers outstanding sound quality, centered around Sennheiser's True Response transducer. Based on dynamic 7 mm drivers manufactured in Germany, it produces an immersive stereo sound with deep bass, natural mids and detailed highs. The new Sound Personalization feature provides an enhanced sound experience via a guided listening test to setup the perfect sound for each user's individual hearing. In addition, the Smart Control App offers a choice of presets and an equalizer feature to tailor the sound to the user's taste.

Sony's Upcoming WH-1000XM5 Headphones Leak Alongside LinkBuds S

When it comes to Bluetooth headphones with ANC, Sony is one of the best in the business and the company appears to be preparing to launch a couple of new products, if the most recent leaks are anything to go by. First up is the WH-1000XM5, which is an entirely revamped product and doesn't resemble its predecessors in the WH-1000XM series. The LinkBuds S on the other hand is something of a budget version of the WF-1000XM4s, rather than another peculiar design like the LinkBuds.

The WH-1000XM5 aren't as big of a move in a different design direction as Bose's 700-series was compared to the QuietComfort, but they're still different enough to make it obvious that we're looking at a new generation of product here. Sony has slimmed down the headband, but at the same time increased the area of the headband that's covered by soft materials, even though it might not actually touch your head. The earcups have a new design, but it looks like the touch control remains, since the only physical controls that are noticeable in the pictures consist of a power/Bluetooth slider and an NC/AMB button for switching between noise cancelling and ambient mode, as well as presumably turning off noise cancelling.

Bang & Olufsen introduces Beoplay EX, its most versatile true wireless ANC earphones to date

From our award-winning Beoplay H95 over-ear ANC headphones to Beoplay Portal, our premiere entry to the gaming market, Beoplay EX is the natural next step in our superior sound offering", says Bang & Olufsen Dorte Vestergaard, Bang & Olufsen's Category Director.

Beoplay EX differs most notably from previous Bang & Olufsen earphones in the shape of its design. Designed by Thomas Bentzen, the stem-based shape has been adopted and transformed into a finished offering that is equal parts stylish and comfortable. The housing of the earphone placed inside the ear, is smaller than ever before, and ensures a comfortable and stable fit that can be worn for hours without readjustment. The practicality of this new shape is matched with the signature Bang & Olufsen aesthetic, perfected over 96 years of craftmanship and design innovation. From the mirror-like glass interface which catches the light at the perfect moment, to the surrounding brushed aluminium ring, Beoplay EX creates a statement for the wearer whether they opt for the slick Black Anthracite, opulent Gold Tone or striking Anthracite Oxygen finish. Beoplay EX comes complete with a matching brushed aluminium charging case, which is conveniently pocket-sized, making it the perfect travel companion.

Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3 Leak Courtesy of Lufthansa

It's not every day new hardware, or as in this case, new TWS earbuds, are leaked by an airline, but in this case, Lufthansa has jumped the gun and leaked the upcoming Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3 earbuds. This happened courtesy of the airline's WorldShop website, although by now the product listings have been removed. However, courtesy of several publications online picking up on the leak, we now know what to expect from Sennheisers next generation of TWS buds.

Designwise the changes are fairly minor, with the most noticeable changes being in the addition of a graphite colour option, with black and white still sticking around. The charging case now supports the Qi wireless charging standard, which should appeal to some potential customers. Battery life for the earbuds remains at 7 hours, with a further 28 hours or four additional charges provided by the charging case. It takes about 90 minutes to charge the earbuds in the charging case, which also sports a USB-C port. The earbuds have support for Bluetooth 5.2, but there's no mention of Bluetooth LE audio support. On the other hand, SBC, AAC, aptX and aptX Adaptive are supported. The Momentum 3's also supports hybrid adaptive ANC with four microphones per earbud, which should be a step up over the previous generation. The Momentum True Wireless 3 are said to launch later this month and the MSRP should be around €249 or around $275.

Philips Reveals New Fidelio TWS and ANC Headphones

There's no shortage of TWS headphones in the market these days, but Philips latest addition, the Fidelio T1's are standing out from the crowd, least not thanks to its claimed 9 hour battery life with ANC on, or 13 hours with it off, which to our knowledge is class leading. Philips also announced a pair of over-ear ANC headphones in the shape of the Fidelio L3 which claims to have a 32 hour battery life with ANC on, which increases slightly to 38 hours with it off.

The T1's come in black or white/silver colour options and feature a 10 mm dynamic driver, as well as a balanced armature, something that is still quite rare in the TWS marketspace. The L3's use typical 40 mm drivers that most headphones in this class seem to use some variant of. Philips has incorporated its Noise Cancelling Pro+ technology, which is said to be a combination of state-of-the-art hardware and advanced audio processing and it's used across both sets of headphones. Both also have no less than four microphones for ANC, with the T1's getting no less than three mics for phone calls, whereas the L3's only gets two, with both supporting echo noise cancellation during calls.

Denon Launches its First TWS Earbuds

Denon isn't the first brand most people think of when it comes to in-ear headphones, nor wireless headphones for that matter, but the company has a range of very high-end over-ear headphones in its lineup of products. This might be set to change though, with the company introducing two new sets of TWS earbuds in the shape of the AH-C630W and the AH-C830NCW.

The design appears very similar between the two models and apart from the little silver accent on the bottom of the AH-C830NCW, it's hard to tell the two apart from just looking at them. The main difference between the two is that the AH-C830NCW comes with active noise cancelling, insert detection and Google Fast Pair. Both models use standard dynamic drivers, with the AH-C830NCW having an unusual oval shape that measures 11x10 mm and the AH-C630W using a regular driver with a 10 mm diameter.
