Magic Leap's next-generation augmented reality (AR) headset could be AMD-powered according to a Basemark benchmark listing seen by _Rogame. The chip driving this headset is codenamed "Mero," and is a semi-custom SoC made by AMD. The SoC combines a CPU based on the "Zen 2" microarchitecture, with an iGPU based on RDNA2. Basemark reads this as 8 CPU cores, although it's possible this is 4-core/8-thread.

At this point, the RDNA2 compute unit (CU) count is unknown. Magic Leap uses an Android 10-derived OS for the x86-64 machine architecture, and the system name reads as "Magic Leap Demophon" to Basemark (which could just be the prototype's network machine name). The AR display-head is 720 x 920 pixels, and the memory available to the OS is 1 GB (not counting the memory shared to the iGPU).

BenQ has launched a new, quirky projector and this time the company is targeting gamers. The X3000i as the model is known as, is a 4LED DLP projector that claims to have low input lag. Although it supports 4K, this is only at 60 Hz, but it has two different 1080p gaming modes that support either 240 Hz with a 4.16 ms input lag or 120 Hz with an 8 ms input lag. It sports a total of three HDMI 2.0b ports, of which the third, hidden port is occupied by an HDMI dongle that adds "smart" features to the projector. It's the QS01 dongle that we've seen before from BenQ, but it has been updated to Android 10. Other connectivity consists of a single USB Type-A 2.0 port that can deliver 2.5 A, an RS232 serial port, a DC 12 V trigger jackm, as well as a 3.5 mm audio jack and an optical S/PDIF out. One of the accessible HDMI ports supports eARC and the X3000i has a pair of integrated speakers that delivers a not too powerful 10 W audio output.

What's a Gasket-Mount Structure?
The core concept of a gasket-mount design is to provide a soft typing feeling and raindrop-like typing sounds by avoiding direct contact between the keyboard plate and the other keyboard components. Instead of using screws to support the inner components, the traditional gasket structure uses small pieces of rubber/silicone gaskets on the edges inside the keyboard, making the gaskets be the main contact points between the inner bottom of the case, the PCB, and the top plate. Nonetheless, the conventional gasket structures only have the gaskets padding on the edges of the keyboard, leaving the center empty. This can cause a lack of support in the main typing area of the keyboard, resulting in an inconsistent sound and typing feel.

Contract prices of NAND Flash products are expected to undergo a marginal drop of 0-5% QoQ in 4Q21 as demand slows, according to TrendForce's latest investigations. Microsoft has recently released a new Windows 11 beta build to Windows Insiders with initial support for running Android applications. The latest update brings the Amazon Appstore and the Windows Subsystem for Android allowing you to run a limited selection of 50 curated Android games and apps. The preview works on AMD, Intel, and Qualcomm equipped devices leveraging Intel Bridge Technology for AMD and Intel platforms. The current selection of applications doesn't include any benchmarking tools so we cannot definitively say how this compares with competing programs like BlueStacks or native performance. You cannot currently install applications from an APK file however Microsoft has previously confirmed that this will be possible so we may see this functionality introduced in future versions.

The PC will need to be updated to Windows 11 build 22000.xxx or later and have virtualization enabled in the BIOS/UEFI. The Android Apps preview requires your PC region to be set to the US and you will also need a U.S.-based Amazon account to download applications. The Amazon Appstore can then be downloaded here which will also install and set up the Windows Subsystem for Android.
