ORICO Launches 5Big DAS Solution, A Massive Data Storage Center for AV Production Projects

ORICO, a leading innovator in data storage solutions, is proud to introduce 5Big DAS Storage System Solution with 110 TB big capacity and 40 Gbps transfer speed storage system. Boost the unprecedented productivity of professionals, like video audio editors, content creators and filmmakers. Support personal or big team video audio projects that generate extensive data. As a video audio creator in pre-production and post-production, the volume of data can be overwhelming and scattered, from raw footage to final edits, sound files to special effects. And losing the valuable datasets means losing everything. Large, reliable and centralized storage ensures that all these assets are secured and easily accessible.

This system has 5 push-pull bays compatible with 2.5"/3.5" SSDs or 3.5" HDDs. Single bay supports up to 22 TB drive. Provide a total 110 TB lossless data backup and access area, specially tailored for high frame rate video projects and environments requiring high data completeness. It means you can get a storage space the same as: 55 x 2 TB laptop / 440 x 256 GB phone / 11,264 x 10 GB Blu-ray movie / 3,844,778 x 30 MB lossless music, or 23,068,672 x 5 MB HD photo. This system supports up to 3-devices daisy chain. You can get a total of 330 TB capacity available for the next project. On the other hand, it enables data recovery and 7 RAID modes (RAID 0, 1, 3, 5, 10, JOBD, Normal). Backup and redundancy measures ensure data security and reliability.

Silverstone Also Shows Off Interesting New Storage Enclosures and DAS Products at Computex 2024

Besides innovative cases for AI development and acceleration, Silverstone also showed off some interesting storage enclosures in the 5.25-inch format, to be used with some of the above cases that have 5.25-inch drive bays, such as the Alta D1. The FSM08-NS lets you connect up to 8 M.2 NVMe drives, each with PCIe Gen 4 x4 wiring. The backend of this enclosure plugs into eight SDD86423 Slim SAS 4i connectors. The FS304-Lite takes up three 5.25-inch drive bays, and puts out 4x 3.5-inch SAS or SATA drives, with its backplane supporting SATA or SAS. It even has a 92 mm cooling fan. The ECM30 is a PCI-Express 4.0 x16 to 4x M.2-22

The TS434-10G is a USB 3.2 desktop DAS enclosure. It features four 3.5-inch caddies with SATA 6 Gbps backplanes, which are driven by an ASMedia ASM2074 controller, which is connected to an ASM235CM bridge chip. This bridge chip connects to the host over USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbps). There are no hardware RAID formats supported. The MS12-40 is an M.2 USB4 enclosure. You install an M.2-2280 NVMe SSD inside, which is driven at PCI-Express 3.0 x4 (32 Gbps) speeds. An ASMedia ASM2564 bridge chip connects this to 40 Gbps USB4 over a single type-C cable. The enclosure is made of chunky extruded aluminium, its body doubles up as a heatsink.

TerraMaster Rolls Out D4-320 4-bay USB DAS

TerraMaster today rolled out the D4-320, a 4-bay USB DAS enclosure. This is essentially a 4-bay sibling of the D2-320 enclosure that the company released in January. The enclosure features four 3.5-inch caddies with SATA 6 Gbps backplanes, and hotplugging capability. These are connected to a SATA AHCI controller, with a USB 3.2 Gen 2 upstream link that has 10 Gbps bandwidth, and support for UASP (USB-attached SCSI). A type-C cable is included with the DAS. The drive cage is cooled by a 120 mm fan that draws air through the caddies, and exhausts from a vent at the back. TerraMaster says that it put a design focus on optimizing this fan, and reducing the noise and vibration of the device with a full-house. It's important to note here, that the DAS has no RAID function, so each of the four disks and their volumes are individually mounted by the host. There are link/activity LEDs for each drive. TerraMaster includes a first-party data backup software. Available now, the TerraMaster D4-320 is priced at $190.

Intel Announces 12th Gen Core Processors with vPro

Intel today launched its 12th Gen Core Processors with vPro. Released across the company's mobile and desktop product lines, these processors are targeted at pre-built commercial desktops and commercial notebooks that companies typically issue their employees, which come with a host of security and remote-management features suitable to a large corporate environment. With this generation, Intel is bringing vPro to even more market segments, including ultraportables designed under the Intel Evo banner; a new breed of enterprise-grade Chromebooks for businesses built entirely on the Chrome OS platform and cloud-based apps; and for the first time, an SMB version of vPro called vPro Essentials, which will make it to entry-level Core i5 processors with vPro.

Security, Productivity, and Future-readiness form the three areas in which Intel innovated for 12th Gen Core processors with vPro. The company added new capabilities for Threat Detection Technology, which can detect ransomware and supply-chain attacks, and can work with various endpoint security software. Intel Hardware Shield technology prevents attacks from "below" the software (below ring-0, or at the firmware, microcode, or hardware levels). This is achieved through hardware-accelerated virtualization and encryption of the entire software environment. Hardware-based protections extend to vPro Enterprise for Chrome.
