AMD Ryzen PC Gets Integrated into a Foldable Keyboard

Ling-Long, a Chinese PC manufacturer, has introduced an innovative device that combines a fully functional AMD Ryzen 7 8840U PC with a foldable keyboard. This design stands out among recent Mini and Portable PC offerings. Unlike Mini PCs, it doesn't require an external power source to boot, and unlike laptops, it lacks a built-in display. Users can simply connect it to a monitor and mouse to create a complete workstation. Ling-Long emphasizes the product's extreme portability, demonstrating how it can fit in a pocket.

Aiming to surpass the compactness and functionality of Apple's Macbook and Mac mini, Ling-Long describes their product as an "unibody" design with a dedicated converting mechanism. Essentially, it's a mini-PC integrated into a keyboard. The device's chassis is divided into two compartments: one for the main PC with a single active-blower fan and copper heatsink, and another for the battery pack. Battery life varies from 10 hours for light workloads to 4 hours for gaming.

Apple Reportedly Developing 20.3-inch Foldable MacBook for 2027 Launch

According to renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is actively working on a foldable 20.3-inch MacBook, with mass production expected to begin in 2027. In a recent post on X/Twitter, Kuo stated that this foldable MacBook is currently Apple's only foldable product with a clear development schedule. Kuo's revelation comes amidst frequent inquiries about whether Apple plans to mass-produce a foldable iPhone or iPad in 2025 or 2026. His latest survey indicates that while Apple may explore these options, the foldable MacBook is the only device with a definitive timeline. This is not the first time rumors have circulated about a potential foldable MacBook from Apple. In 2022, display industry analyst Ross Young and Bloomberg's Mark Gurman both reported that Apple was interested in launching a foldable device with a screen size of around 20 inches.

Details about the foldable MacBook's design remain scarce, but it is expected to feature a single foldable OLED display that can be used in various configurations, such as a laptop mode with a virtual keyboard on the lower half of the screen or as a large tablet when fully unfolded. While competitors like Samsung, Motorola, and Huawei have already released foldable smartphones, Apple appears to be more cautious, focusing on perfecting the technology before bringing a product to market. As the foldable device market evolves, it will be interesting to see how Apple's unique take on the form factor fares. As Apple's first foldable product, it will be interesting to see what design choices are made and what hardware configuration will be present. But we are still relatively far away from the actual release of 2027.

LG Display Announces Mass-Production of 17-inch Foldable OLED Panel for Laptops

LG Display, the world's leading innovator of display technologies, announced today that it will start mass-production of the 17-inch Foldable OLED panel for laptops, a representation of the company's earnest commitment to the expansion of its OLED business for IT devices. LG Display's 17-inch Foldable OLED panel features a Tandem OLED structure previously applied to automotive displays, with a dramatically increased lifespan suitable for IT devices. An industry first in 2019, LG Display's Tandem OLED embodies its groundbreaking two-stack OLED technology, which adds an extra organic emitting layer to deliver brighter screens while effectively dispersing energy across OLED components for optimal stability and longer lifespans. The longevity of the panel is well-suited to IT devices which typically have longer usage times such as laptops, monitors, and tablets.

The company's groundbreaking 17-inch Foldable OLED for laptops integrates a specialized material that minimizes creasing in the folding area of the screen. This results in a seamless display and crystal-clear picture quality, unlike conventional foldable panels. In addition, the 17-inch Foldable OLED features an 'in-folding' design, allowing it to fold inwards with ease. The curvature of the folding portion is reduced to 3R (radius of curvature 3 mm), resulting in a slim and seamless screen design that closely fits together when folded in half. The panel incorporates QHD+ resolution (2560 x 1920) on its 17-inch large screen and boasts an infinite contrast ratio unique to OLED technology, ensuring high-definition content can be enjoyed anytime and anywhere.

Creative Technology has launched Creative Zen Hybrid, its latest wireless headphones which just might keep music-loving users plugged in far longer than they would normally. Featuring Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) technology, 40 mm Neodymium drivers and up to 37 hours of battery life with a minimalist yet sleek design, Creative Zen Hybrid quite simply packs in the highlights as the go-to daily headphone solution for all. This technology is 'hybrid' through implementing feedforward and feedback microphones on each earcup. As a result, up to 95% of ambient noise is filtered out, enabling users to fully immerse in their favorite tunes while on the go.

On the other hand, Ambient Mode allows users to be conveniently aware of the environment without taking the headphones off, for example when listening out for train station announcements, ordering at a café counter or simply keeping users safe on busy streets. Rounding things off is a noise-cancelling microphone, which keeps calls clear for the other party as well. To complement the noise cancelling feature, these headphones sport 40 mm powerful yet light Neodymium drivers. Expertly tuned by Creative's in-house engineers for a warm sound signature with accurate bass and crisp, clean highs, the Zen Hybrid is well-balanced to suit a wide variety of genres while helping to prevent headphone fatigue.
