Gigabyte GeForce GTX 780 Ti Pictured

Here's the first picture of an AIC partner-branded GeForce GTX 780 Ti graphics card, by Gigabyte in this case. The card appears to stick to NVIDIA's reference board design, which is practically indistinguishable from the standard GTX 780 and GTX TITAN, except for the special markings. Specifications of the card appear to be consistent with older leaks. Based on the 28 nm "GK110" GPU, the GeForce GTX 780 Ti features 2,880 CUDA cores, 240 TMUs, 48 ROPs, and a 384-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface, holding 3 GB of memory. Its core is clocked at 876 MHz, with a maximum GPU Boost frequency of 928 MHz. The memory is clocked on par with the GTX 770, at 7.00 GHz, churning out a stellar 336 GB/s memory bandwidth. NVIDIA is reportedly targeting a $699.99 price-point with the GTX 780 Ti, which would be $150 costlier than AMD's Radeon R9 290X.

GeForce GTX 780 GHz Edition No Unicorn, a Gigabyte SKU

In the aftermath of AMD's Radeon R9 290 launch, which at $399, makes the $499 GeForce GTX 780 look undesirable, NVIDIA could be pushing its partners to come up with factory-overclocked SKUs that make the GTX 780 competitive at its price point. The first such card is the Gigabyte GTX 780 GHz Edition, which was earlier mistaken for an official NVIDIA SKU. Granted, the card is based on the new B1 stepping of the GK110 chip, but that doesn't constitute a new SKU. The card features out of the box clock speeds of 1019 MHz core, 1071 MHz GPU Boost, and an untouched 6.00 GHz (GDDR5-effective) memory. It's beginning to appear on European online retail websites such as OCUK, at a roughly 10 percent premium over regular GTX 780 cards.

GIGABYTE Rolls Out its Radeon R9 290 Graphics Card

Gigabyte joined the Radeon R9 290 launch party with its own card, the GV-R929D5-4GD-B, which sticks to AMD's reference design board, without too many stickers. The card also sticks to AMD's reference clocks speeds of 948 MHz core, and 5.00 GHz memory. Based on the 28 nm "Hawaii" silicon, the Radeon R9 290 features 2,560 stream processors, 160 TMUs, 64 ROPs, and a 512-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface, holding 4 GB of memory. Expect the card to go for $399.99.

GIGABYTE Announces its Radeon R9 290X Graphics Cards

GIGABYTE announced its Radeon R9 290X graphics cards. Available as a base-model priced at $549.99, and a Battlefield 4 Edition priced $25 more, GIGABYTE's R9 290X sticks to AMD-reference board design and clock speeds, of 1000 MHz core, and 5.00 GHz memory (GDDR5-effective). The company's OC Guru II software is part of the package. Based on the 28 nm "Hawaii" silicon, the Radeon R9 290X features 2,816 Graphics CoreNext stream processors, 176 TMUs, 64 ROPs, four independent tessellation units, and a 512-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface, holding 4 GB of memory.

Gigabyte Rolls Out the Aivia Uranium Wireless Gaming Mouse

Gigabyte Technology has now officially released a new Aivia Series peripheral, the Aivia Uranium gaming mouse which features wireless (2.4 GHz) connectivity and comes bundled with a device called the GHOST Macro Station. The station is equipped with an OLED display and allows the user to view and change the mouse's DPI value and report rate, to re-assign macro hotkeys, and to check battery life. Moreover, it has a cable that will power the mouse if its batteries (two AA batteries are required) are running low.

As for the actual mouse, it measures 130 (L) x 78 (W) x40(H) mm and has a 'Twin-eye' laser sensor (maximum DPI is 6500), 10 programmable buttons with a lifespan of 10 million clicks, a DPI switch, a 4-dimentional scroll wheel, and a matte black finish.

The Aivia Uranium can be found priced at €79.90.

Gigabyte Announces its Radeon R7 200 Series

Following the launch of two factory-overclocked, WindForce-equipped Radeon R9 200 graphics cards, Gigabyte rolled out its entry-level Radeon R7 200 series, with five models based on the Radeon R7 260X, Radeon R7 250, and Radeon R7 240. To begin with, the company launched three kinds of R7 260X graphics cards, by reusing two of its PCB designs for the "Bonaire" silicon, the GV-R726XWF2-2GD revisions 1 and 2 (pictured in that order). A third variant is based on a simpler fan-heatsink cooler. The three cards come with identical factory-overclocked speeds of 1188 MHz core (vs. 1100 MHz reference), while leaving the memory untouched, at 6.50 GHz. The cards feature 2 GB of GDDR5 memory, across a 128-bit wide memory interface.

Moving on, the company launched a Radeon R7 250 graphics card, the GV-R725OC-1GI. Based on the 28 nm "Oland" silicon, the chip integrates 384 stream processors, 24 TMUs, 8 ROPs, and a 128-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface, holding 1 GB of memory. The card comes with factory-overclocked GPU core clock speed of 1100 MHz (vs. 1050 MHz reference), and 4.60 GHz memory. Lastly, there's its toned down version the Radeon R7 240, based on the same chip, and board design, the GV-R724OC-2GI, featuring factory-overclocked 900 MHz core (vs. 780 MHz reference), and 2 GB of DDR3 memory clocked at 1.80 GHz.

GIGABYTE Announces G1.Sniper B5 Gaming Motherboard

For gamers who don't plan on overclocking their CPUs, GIGABYTE announced a new gaming desktop motherboard, branded within its G1.Killer series no less. The G1.Sniper B5 combines the key ingredients of a G1.Killer motherboard, with the mid-range Intel B85 Express platform, supporting Core "Haswell" processors in the LGA1150 package. It's built in the standard ATX form-factor. Since the chipset doesn't support CPU overclocking, GIGABYTE went easy on the CPU VRM, with a 4+1 phase design, which is guaranteed to run any socket LGA1150 CPU at its stock speeds. The board draws power from a combination of 24-pin ATX and 8-pin EPS connectors.

Expansion slots include two long PCI-Express slots, but only one of them is wired to the CPU, and supports PCI-Express 3.0 x16 speeds. The other slot is electrical gen 2.0 x4, and wired to the B85 PCH. Two each of PCI-Express 2.0 x1 and legacy PCI, make up the remaining expansion slots. Storage connectivity includes four SATA 6 Gb/s, and two SATA 3 Gb/s ports. The audio solution is based on a Realtek ALC898 CODEC (110 dBA SNR), ground-layer isolation, Nichicon audiophile-grade electrolytic capacitors on the AMP stage, and a removable OPAMP chip. There's no Bigfoot Killer NIC, but a decent Intel-made GbE LAN chip. The board features AMI UEFI BIOS with GIGABYTE's latest G1.Killer series setup program (minus the CPU overclocking options, of course), backed by dual-BIOS.

Gigabyte G1.Assassin 3 Motherboard Detailed

Gigabyte showed off an early version of its upcoming high-end socket LGA2011 motherboard, the G1.Assassin 3, at IDF. Based on the same Intel X79 Express chipset as its predecessor, this board is built in the standard ATX form-factor. It draws power from a combination of 24-pin ATX and 8-pin EPS connectors. It uses a 9-phase VRM to condition power to the CPU socket, which uses PowIRstage driver-MOSFETs by International Rectifier. The CPU socket is wired to eight DDR3 DIMM slots, supporting up to 64 GB of memory, and four PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots. A couple of PCI-Express 2.0 x1 slots complete the expansion area.

Storage connectivity on the G1.Assassin 3 includes four each of SATA 6 Gb/s and SATA 3 Gb/s ports. Network connectivity includes two gigabit Ethernet interfaces, from which one is driven by an Intel-made controller, and an add-on card with 802.11ac WLAN, and Bluetooth 4.0. A hyped up feature here is its Creative Sound Core3D audio, with a high SNR DAC, audiophile-grade OPAMP circuitry with user-replaceable amps (Gigabyte calls this AMP-UP). Six USB 3.0 ports, and a number of USB 2.0/1.1 ports make for the rest of it. Gigabyte didn't finalize heatsink designs for the VRM or PCH, and there's no word on when exactly the company plans to launch the thing.

GIGABYTE Readies Cost-effective Socket AM3+ Motherboard with FX-9590 Support

Only a select club of high-end socket AM3+ motherboards come with support for AMD's FX-9590 5.00 GHz eight-core processor, with a gargantuan 220W TDP, and even among some of them, support is 'unofficial,' and through use of beta BIOS (use of which is generally not covered by motherboard warranties). GIGABYTE plans to change that, with a new cost-effective motherboard with out of the box support for high-TDP AMD CPUs, such as the FX-9590, FX-9370, and FX-8770. Called GIGABYTE 970A-UD3P, the motherboard is built in the standard ATX (244 x 305 mm) form-factor.

The 970A-UD3P features an AM3+ CPU socket, with a 10-phase VRM tuned for high-TDP CPUs. It is based on AMD 970 + SB950 chipset. The CPU socket is wired to four DDR3 DIMM slots, supporting up to 64 GB of dual-channel DDR3-2133 MHz memory; and the AMD 970 northbridge. The northbridge gives out the board's sole PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slot, and three other PCI-Express 2.0 x1 slots; the other physical x16 slot is electrical x4, and wired to the southbridge. Two legacy PCI slots take seats. Storage connectivity includes six SATA 6 Gb/s ports. The board provides four USB 3.0 ports (two on the rear panel, two by header). 8-channel HD audio with optical SPDIF output, gigabit Ethernet, and a PS/2 combo port make for the rest of connectivity. The board is driven by AMI Aptio UEFI BIOS, backed by dual-UEFI. It wouldn't surprise us if GIGABYTE prices this board under $100.

GIGABYTE Rolls Out H81M-HD3 Socket LGA1150 Motherboard

While GIGABYTE's first motherboards based on Intel's new entry-level H81 Express chipset were mostly focused on small business PC builds, its latest one could lure HTPC builders. The new H81M-HD3 is built in the narrow micro-ATX (244 x 190 mm) form-factor as the other H81-based motherboards from the company, with a feature-set tuned for the living room. To begin with, the board draws power from a combination of 24-pin ATX and 8-pin EPS connectors; the LGA1150 socket is powered by the same simple 2+1 phase VRM. The CPU socket is wired to two DDR3 DIMM slots, supporting up to 32 GB of dual-channel DDR3 memory; and a PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slot (as PCIe gen 3.0 is outside the platform's feature-set). A pair of legacy PCI slots and a PCI-Express 2.0 x1 make for the rest of the expansion area.

The H81 PCH gives out two each of SATA 6 Gb/s and SATA 3 Gb/s ports. With the help of an additional VLI-made USB 3.0 host controller, the board features a total of six USB 3.0 ports (four on the rear panel, two by header). Display connectivity includes dual-link DVI, D-Sub (VGA), DisplayPort, and HDMI. 8-channel HD audio with optical (TOSLINK) SPDIF output, driven by Realtek ALC892 CODEC; and gigabit Ethernet, driven by Realtek 8111F controller, make for the rest of the connectivity. COM and LPT ports are given out by headers. The board is driven by AMI Aptio UEFI BIOS, backed by GIGABYTE's dual-UEFI technology. We expect this one to go for around $60.

GIGABYTE Announces its First Intel H81 Chipset Motherboards

GIGABYTE announced its first socket LGA1150 motherboards based on Intel's new H81 Express chipset for entry-level desktop platforms, among the trio of H81-based motherboards launched today, are the H81M-DS2, H81M-D2V, and H81M-D3V. The three are based on a common compact micro-ATX PCB design measuring 226 x 170 mm, and differ with connectivity features. The H81 Express is basically B85 Express without SBA, and fewer SATA 6 Gb/s ports, and PCIe gen 2.0.

The H81M-DS2 has a focus on legacy connectivity, which could go well with POS (that's point-of-sale, but we won't disagree with what you made out) PCs that are wired to old LPT printers. Its legacy ports include an LPT parallel port, an RS232 COM serial port, separate PS/2 ports for mouse and keyboard. Its lone display output is a D-Sub (VGA). The H81M-D2V sheds LPT while retaining a the RS232 COM port, and a slightly more modern display connectivity that includes D-Sub (VGA) and DVI. It features a single, common PS/2 connector. The H81M-D3V has the least legacy connectivity, with just DVI and D-Sub for display outputs, no rear-panel COM or LPT ports, and a common PS/2 connector.

GIGABYTE Intros F2A75M-DS2 Entry-level Socket FM2 Motherboard

GIGABYTE rolled out its newest entry-level socket FM2 motherboard, the F2A75M-DS2. With it, GIGABYTE established AMD A75 chipset and black PCB color as the new baseline for its AMD platform motherboards. Built in the compact micro-ATX form-factor measuring 174 x 226 mm, the motherboard seats AMD A-series APUs and Athlon processors in the FM2 package, with out of the box support for A-series "Richland" APUs.

The F2A75M-DS2 draws power from a combination of 24-pin ATX and 8-pin EPS connectors, a 4+1 phase VRM powers the APU socket, which is wired to two DDR3 DIMM slots, supporting up to 64 GB of dual-channel DDR3-2133 MHz memory; and a PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slot. A PCI-Express 2.0 x1 and legacy PCI make for the rest of its expansion. Display outputs include dual-link DVI and D-Sub. Storage connectivity includes four SATA 6 Gb/s ports from the A75 FCH. Four USB 3.0 ports (two on the rear panel two by header), 6-channel HD audio, gigabit Ethernet, PS/2 keyboard/mouse combo, and a number of USB 2.0/1.1 ports make for the rest of the connectivity. The board is driven by AMI Aptio UEFI BIOS, backed by GIGABYTE's dual-UEFI technology. Expect this one to go for around $60.

Gigabyte Rolls Out 990FXA-UD3 Rev. 4

Gigabyte rolled out the fifth revision to its 990FXA-UD3 socket AM3+ motherboard, which possibly heralds a series of upgrades to the company's existing socket AM3+ motherboard SKUs. The 990FXA-UD3 Rev. 4 features a host of changes over its UEFI-equipped predecessor, beginning with a refreshed 10-phase CPU VRM (Digital Power Engine), a different selection of chokes, capacitors, and MOSFETs, newer VRM and chipset heatsinks capable of handling higher thermal loads, and Gigabyte's newest UEFI setup program. The board is otherwise identical to the 990FXA-UD3 Rev 3.

Designed with support for AMD FX "Vishera" processors out of the box, the 990FXA-UD3 Rev. 4 features a split power-plane 10-phase CPU VRM, with chokes that don't whine under load, and lower footprint MOSFETs. The CPU socket is wired to four DDR3 DIMM slots supporting up to 64 GB of dual-channel DDR3-2133 MHz memory, and the AMD 990FX northbridge. This chip gives out two PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slots, and two PCI-Express 2.0 x4 slots (physical x16). Two PCI-Express 2.0 x1, and a legacy PCI make for the rest of its expansion. All six SATA 6 Gb/s ports from the SB950 southbridge are assigned as internal ports, while a Marvell 9172 controller handles two eSATA 6 Gb/s. The board offers a total of four USB 3.0 ports, driven by EJ168 controllers by Etron. 8-channel HD audio driven by Realtek ALC889 CODEC, and a gigabit Ethernet interface driven by Realtek 8111F, cover the rest of its connectivity. Since it's a revision to an existing SKU, we expect it to be priced the same, around $140.

Gigabyte Releases Beta BIOS Unlocking Overclocking on H87 and B85 Motherboards

Closely trailing ASRock and ECS, Gigabyte began releasing beta BIOS updates for its socket LGA1150 motherboards based on chipsets other than Z87 Express, which let you overclock Core "Haswell" K-series processors. Intel intended Z87 Express to be the only LGA1150 platform that lets you overclock processors, but motherboard vendors found their ways around the limitation, enabling a few overclocking features for motherboards based on other chipsets such as H87 Express, and B85 Express. These BIOS updates are marked beta, and typically feature the version number "FXc," with a change-log entry reading "enables K SKU CPU multiplier." With this BIOS installed, you can overclock K-series processors such as Core i7-4770K and Core i5-4670K, by tinkering with their base-clock multipliers.

The card ships with 4 GB of memory (compared to 2 GB standard), and factory-overclocked speeds of 1085 MHz core, 1150 MHz GPU Boost; while keeping the memory ticking at 6.00 GHz. The card uses Gigabyte's new WindForce 450W cooling solution deployed on a number of its new GeForce 700 series products.

GV-N760OC-4GD is based on the same exact PCB as the company's GeForce GTX 770 WindForce OC, which draws power from a combination of 6-pin and 8-pin PCIe power connectors, and conditions it using an 8-phase VRM. The WindForce 450W cooling solution can handle thermal loads as high as 450W. It uses two aluminum fin-stacks strapped along the ends of six copper heat pipes (two 8 mm-thick, four 6 mm-thick), which are then ventilated by a trio of 80 mm fans. We expect the card to be priced around US $300.

GIGABYTE Rolls Out 990FXA-UD7 Rev 3.0, with Updated Feature-Set

GIGABYTE created UEFI-equipped revisions of most of its socket AM3+ motherboards with the advent of FX "Vishera" processors last year, but held back with its flagship motherboard for the platform, the 990FXA-UD7. The company released an updated revision of the motherboard, dubbed 990FXA-UD7 Rev 3.0, completely skipping "Rev 2.0." While the new board is essentially laid out similar to its predecessor, a lot has changed.

To begin with, its based on GIGABYTE's newer (though not latest) Ultra Durable 4 construction. A 10-phase high-amperage VRM powers the AM3+ socket, which appears to be ready for AMD's FX-9000 series CPUs for overclockers. The CPU VRM uses driver-MOSFETs, although not quite the PowIRStage chippery we find on Ultra Durable 5 motherboards. A thicker, chunkier heatsink is used to cool these driver-MOSFETs and the AMD 990FX northbridge. This cluster of heatsinks is connected to the one that cools the AMD SB950 southbridge over a heat pipe. The AM3+ socket is wired to four DDR3 DIMM slots, which support up to 64 GB of dual-channel DDR3-2000+ MHz memory.
